hi everyone and welcome back to my channel today I'm gonna show you how to make three different types of falafel or fried baked and pan-fried with vegan tzatziki sauce if you're interested in the recipe the link will be in the description box below this video alright so the first thing we are gonna do is soaked some dried chickpeas place the chickpeas in a big bowl cover them with water and let them soak for about 24 hours you don't want to use cooked chickpeas because they are too tender and contain too much moisture to achieve the right falafel consistency after 24 hours discard the soaking water and give the chickpeas a good Ren's before putting them into the food processor [Music] [Music] next I have some fresh parsley cilantro chopped onion and garlic I'm chopping up the onion and garlic before putting them into the food processor because I find that they don't mince evenly if I just throw them in whole [Music] the last few ingredients are chickpea flour which helps to soak up some of the moisture from the chickpeas spices here I have cumin coriander cayenne pepper and black pepper and salt toss all the ingredients a few times until there are no large chunks of chickpeas be careful not to over process the chickpeas the falafel mixture should remain course you don't want to end up with hummus also depending on how wet your dough is you might need to add some more chickpea flour if you do is too wet the falafel will fall apart if it's too dry it won't stick together so just add one tablespoon at a time and see how much you need to form the falafel balls I'm using an ice cream scoop but a spoon would work just as well the falafel ball should be no more than one or two inches in diameter this gets you a great ratio of crispy exterior and moist interior as I mentioned in the beginning of this video I'll show you three different cooking methods for making falafel you can airfryer the falafel at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes bake it at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about half an hour or pan fry it in a little bit of olive oil over medium heat I'm not gonna be commenting on the flavor and texture of the falafel right now because that's what we are going to do in the taste test at the end of this video but I just wanted to point out how evenly browned the air fried falafel is the baked falafel which we have right here looks very similar to the air fried falafel nicely browned and just as round and finally the pan-fried falafel which isn't as evenly browned or round because you have to turn it in the pan to expose the falafel to heat on all sides alright the last thing we are gonna do is get that Aditi sauce ready so the Tiki sauce is actually really easy to make all you'll need is a cucumber yogurt dill lemon juice garlic and salt start by creating the cucumber if you're using an organic cucumber like I am you don't have to peel it cucumbers contain a lot of water so if there is a lot of juice coming out of the cucumber as you are creating it squeeze it out so the Tiki sauce isn't too watery next up is the yogurt I'm using coconut yogurt for which I already have a recipe on my youtube channel I'll leave a link to the yogurt recipe in the description box below this video next is a little bit of lemon juice crushed garlic salt and fresh dill mix all the ingredients together until well combined [Music] [Music] you can serve the Tiki sauce as s or if you like really sick Siddiqui let it rain for 12 to 15 hours or until it reaches the consistency you're after and that's it crispy air fried baked and pan-fried golden-brown falafel with vegan - Tiki sauce all right so we've got three types of falafel here we've got a fried baked and hand fried because I understand that not all of you have an airfryer and so you guys asked what does the falafel place like when it's not air fried so here we go yes yes I would agree with that yes the texture is consistent throughout the entire a lawful wall the crust is light but crispy not too dense I find that the other ones specifically the pan-fried falafel is oily to a smoky flavor to it quite high moisture content I'm guessing because it's soaked absolutely so much oil in the pan and it doesn't have such a nice crust and fried it's softer it's soft the oven one is the most different taste wise because to me it seems like the oven imparted a certain character to the falafel like it's got like a cake-like flavor and the texture is very dense for the baked one and I don't I don't like that I don't like the moisture content and I don't like that so it's so thick the crust yes it's a very it's almost crunchy yes crispy crunchy it's very hard and I would say that the baked falafel is the driest out of all of them yeah so the to the air fried and the pan-fried exploiting moist are quite moist whereas the baked is very dry yeah so first second third yes I would agree with that so if you don't have an air fryer I would do the pen but the bake still works yes so the flavors there which are harder to eat that's it the jet ski sauce will moisten it up and it tastes great so you need to make that to that Tiki sauce because this is the real winner here it's like dill and cucumber coming through like really vibrant color from the dill the cucumber the underlying notes of garlic so makes it nice and mellow rounds out the flavor the aftertaste is very pleasing it kind of curves down and so I you have to make the density sense so do that true all right so I hope you enjoyed this video if you did please give me thumbs up comment below subscribe to my channel and I'll see you next time
