finish up the backyard and I've had in my head for a long time what I want it to look like but haven't tied it all together so I'm going to play around today and see where I want what to be and I'll cuz I thought you like it because I want you the only I I [Music] like happy Saturday guys it is such a beautiful day today and I like when I choose to do work in the yard it is beautiful the sun is shining then it enhances my mood I don't know about you but the weather has a lot to do with my mood so today we're in the backyard we're getting ready to just get rid of the old mulch the old soil and just start the process of laying down the new mulch the new soil we are definitely looking towards um getting this done for Memorial weekend we're going to be having some guest over and I absolutely just want to just scheme through the process as quickly as possible but because we're doing this for the first time choosing to do it ourself is definitely the least expensive route and I want to just take my time and do it correctly so that I don't have to turn around and still hire additional help to come and complete stuff for us my husband says that he's perfectly capable of doing this so I'm giving him the floor I will be doing some of the work but majority of the work will be done by him and I'll be assistant so did you all just see how close that Shir P me let me double back with me I remember sh sh this to you in the beginning when I was shopping in Lowe's and this is primarily used when you want to promote root development and plant establishment since these roots are already developed I am just putting extra soil on top to just provide better drainage and circulation for these trees so that they can grow more um I don't know when I purchased the house they were already there and I've been living here 3 years I felt like they should have grown a little bit more already and so I promised myself this year I wanted to just take better care of them now I am going to be putting 2 in of mulch on it to just further insulate the plant roots from extreme temperature swings I am soiling and he's just laying down the mulch and we go with the same color mulch that we have in the front of the yard as well as the back Garden I just feel like black mulch goes better with um the aesthetic of our home so do you guys remember this mirac gr Garden feeder that I showed you when I was shopping in Lowe's I absolutely love it for many reasons one of the main reasons I love it is because it can be used it's multi-purpose so you can use it for your flowers your vegetables your trees your shrubs and you just use it every 2 weeks and you're good just attach your water hose to it that's it it's an entire next week and we're still on this project the weather was flip flapping one day it's sunny and the another day it's cold hence the reason why my husband has a jacket on today so we started today with putting on the solar lights yeah I'm [Music] happy so all the lighting pictures are going up today we put up the solar hangon lights we yes we I was holding the staple gun and the light assisting in the process so all the solar handles are on this end because I get mostly the Sun from this end we then moved on to putting up the Wifi LED scone lights these I cannot wait to see what they look like at night so babe decided that he's going to put one on each side of the door and I think that would look amazing in the background he has a whole tool box for everything literally everything it's just a few items that we may need that we have to run to the store for but he pretty much is prepared for this job I think I underestimated him [Music] [Music] I [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] stay tuned to the end and you'll see how amazing these look do you all remember this grazing ball that I did in the Ross haul well if you're looking for creative ways to add interest to your outdoor space these are perfect I saw someone on Instagram used uh some Firefly light light inside of them and that's exactly what I'll be doing so that it looks reflective at night so we had all intention to put stones in the areas where there isn't much drainage and so it takes a while when it rains for that Aira to get dry so we decided to use gravel stones and we were were initially going to buy gravel stones and Lowe's or Home Depot but we saw this landscaping area that's close to our house and it's more affordable to get these stones from a landscaping era especially if you find out that you need a lot when the gentleman told us it was okay to come back to get the stones we didn't waste any time we got home got the truck prepared and went straight there to grab Stones we had to make a couple of trips of leave I don't want to leave you alone I leave I don't want to leave you alone n later I ran out to go back to Lowe's I needed to get the fire pit ring um the weed stopper carpet some herbs what else did I get I think I got some organic soil to plant the herbs and H this ibiscus plant of course Leo was with me I like to take her out of the house any chance that I get because she's in the house with me all the time so once I got back theyve started on the fire pit which was our next project the next item on the agenda and he's working together today with my daughter I am so happy that she's like getting involved with this she's also excited just to see what the backyard will finally look like the fire pit gives us the option of sitting in the backyard at night especially when it in the late summer when the temperatures start to drop or in the fall I have all intention of adding like a projector screen back here so that we can also sit by the fireplace have a drink and watch one of our favorite shows or our favorite movies here you could see that he's using and any items that you're seeing here will be linked to my either my ltk or my Amazon storefront I'll have both link below but this glue is a concrete glue that you use to hold the stones down and you want to remember when you're doing the fire pit to leave leave a couple inches in between the blocks to allow the flow of oxygen and air outside of the fire pit what we did also grabb for the fire pit was lava rocks and sand the sand went at the bottom the lava rocks on top and then we use some oak wood on top I like oak wood because it has a I like the the odor of it and I also like the crackling sounds I'll touch more on that once we get to down to the fire pit area but around this patio if you see the lining here this is where my drainage does not go away for a few days and so covering it with the weed killer um barrier first is ideal because that will prevent any um weed from growing up we could have used sand on top of the weed barrier just to level it out but I had no intention to spend extra money just to put scent to level that area out because how much do I really walk on that area I'm just stepping on it to step off meanwhile in the afternoon World Market finally deliver the other two pieces of the five piece set that I ordered apparently these are bird feeders but I do not I don't plan on using them for that purpose I am going to be using them as bases um one thing though I do not like the color so of course I am going to switch it to either like a Earl Gray uh White off white cream we'll see how that goes I absolutely love the finish product I love how it looks I'm also going to just continue and renew these P the patio post with the same color just to freshen up the area and that will be it for today [Music] so it's the third week on this project and we started with this Garden area that initially I was going to turn into a vegetable garden but now I want Rose Garden I plac these Planters to the left of the house I want to just get into cutting herbs from my own garden because they spoil too quickly when they're refrigerated I have the organic soil in here and everything like I stated before will be linked on my either my ltk or my Amazon storefront these organic soil I I had picked up from Lowe's and I know it's primarily for vegetables and I wanted to give these herbs the best boost that I can I'll be planting in here Rosemary lavender and th because according to the Chart these three can really go together because they require the same soils same fertilizer same everything so those three will go in this pot and then the pot that I have in the back I'll just put all the peppermints all the mints together peppermint sweet mint and um what's the other one I forgot but those all those mints are going to be going together because mints spread a lot so it's not ideal to put it with other herbs hubby then went on to start putting together the sofa set from World Market so the first day when we initially started to prepare this area we wanted to make sure that the area was safe for plants so we sprayed it and waited couple hours into the next day to really just start planting we laid the barrier down first this is the weed barrier and then and what I plan to do is cover it completely so that I don't have to tend to it and worry about weeding through the garden because it's a rose garden and there will be Thorns that's something that I do not want to deal with these Oaks are the same Oaks we use in the fireplace area and what the O does it it just holds the barrier plastic in place hubby is then now I had also use those ooks to Mark the areas where I want plants to go and so then he has an idea exactly where I want to dig holes I started to help with a digging but this clay DT and me is not friends so he init he just finished it completely okay and then what I did was I came in and started planting the roses at the end from what I calculated I needed about 24 roses and so going to those early in the morning for their rejects was the my best bet because I would get four or six for the price of two and that is a game changer things we also did this weekend was to put up these waterproof patio share curtains I specifically wanted share and I went for white um they're perfect also for living room bedroom porch prola kabana I went with a couple of different lens it I believe the length go up to 120 in length morning early I got up and I started the decorating process finally we are at that space where I could start seeing the elements and the style and aesthetic play a role in my final decision making one tip from a professional designer that I had always in my mind is to treat your patio or deck like it's another room in your house and you'll have an outdoor space where everyone loves the hangout of course choosing one of the best rug is key since it's the center piece of the space and a chance to make a style statement not to mention it'll add texture and make my patio look so much cheer outdoor spaces need to be divided similar to indoor ones I chose a J's rug to go with this rug so that that it could accessorize the AA rug to refine the space at first I couldn't decide where I wanted this rug I had it underneath the swinging chair for a second then I went to the corner with it and eventually I ended up putting it under the table one thing to keep in mind while rugs are designed for outdoor use a lot of exposure to UV rays can cause them to lose their color so I definitely wanted to go with a natural finish because it's also UV and mold resistance um you could put an outdoor rug Pad but I didn't do that I'll see how this holds up it's ey quality polypropylene and it doesn't need to be vacuum and it can occasionally be hos down and left to dry so I think I'm just going to go with it for now it looks beautiful it feels great under my feet and especially because it's designed to withstand the inevitable wear and tear off backyard get together so this is what it looks like after I decided to put the J's rug on top of the area rug and I like the finished look at it I'm going to take the plants and put them in the designated areas where I feel more comfortable I'm playing around with it to see how it looks and then I'll remove the plastic from the cushions I bought Scotch Guard to spray them with and what that will do is also prevent the the cushion material from UV rays from it's like water and stain resistant do you see these bird feeders these are the bird feeders that I turn into vases and I like how it looks with those ball plants I went with walk Spiller candle for this outdoor uh I forgot what that the name of that thing is but I wanted to get something that was durable this has a timer on it so I could always set a timer for it to come on at night and um I think it used like two AA batteries those hanging lanterns I had found them in Marshall's like over a year ago I was I was buying stuff and putting them in my garage because I already knew the concept and the theme that I wanted to go with um so I had them on Deck this is like a baby rug that I bought and Leo is already sampling it she's too much later that day we went to Home Depot to get some Lumber cuz hubby says that he can build me this picnic table and look how it looks unfortunately we couldn't stain it that day because rain was supposed to be coming 2 days later so we waited 3 days actually later to start staining it I am going to look for the stain and and tag it I I grabbed it in Home Depot I didn't do any research on it but it's been like 3 weeks and it's holding up a lot so I'll look for it and I'll tag it um in I'll put it on my storefront actually this man really outdid himself do you see this I'm just going to
