Exploring his Insane Custom Cars with Ian Roussel at SEMA 2023

hey guys I'm nine the F throttle and today I'm here with I rousell from Full custom garages from Motor Trend you have an amazing two builds right behind us here at SEMA well thank you the one that really caught my eye though was this beautiful crown victoria can you tell me a little bit about where it started what condition you got it in and how you turned it into this well Crown Victoria is an understatement that's what we started with okay so it's a 91 uh police interceptor so it's a police car that we at the auction so uh Victor my client found this old doto in a wrecking yard and he's like man I got an idea the Crown Vic the wheelbase is quite short in comparison so the dashboard the radiator the tail pipes is all mechanically Crown Vic so we we mutated the doodo body to fit those proportions this was the car in the wrecking yard waiting for its ultimate fate and uh we started thinking okay mechanically it's no good right the Victor finds this police car at the auction we strip the body off and we cut the theodo into pieces literally place it on the police car chassis this shows through the process we used a 1954 Ford station wagon nose piece I think these are Dodge bumper grills and then built the sheet metal around Clos the doors up change it around down the line into what you see today so it's a bit of a Frankenstein it's multiple pieces for multiple I Am the Doctor you are the doctor now I'm seeing some beautiful airbrush on here what are some of your favorite features of the car I'm just blown away by what Victor's crew does after I'm finished so I can paint I can do Bodywork but my mission on this with him was to do the artistic sculpting the fabrication and his guys did the airbrush the paint the interior it has air suspension under it so it lifts so all that was done by them yeah so looking at the back of the car when we look at the F it's kind of got this Jetson's feel to it what were you going for we were going for the Jetson's feel exactly okay the basic design of the car was an illustration from Keith weasner he's iconic hot rod Customs artist and that was his thing it was like a space AED Barbie riding this sort of flying car and Victor saw that and he was like we got to build something just like that so what you see on the finish of this is entirely kacho custom Victor kacho and his crew they design and make all this happen look at the purple stitching right in here very subtle these seats are custom made everything the back seat is custom made and yeah it's one of a kind so how long did this project car take you well filming for the TV show is super hurried so we actually spent overtime we went nine months on this one and this is a year later from it being finished so from the TV show it didn't have the graphics of the purple it didn't have the skirt so it's better than it ever was wow yeah okay well speaking of Frankenstein's what is behind us over here this is our ultimate latest creation so when you're looking at this one you're like what exactly is the car making model is it a kit car it's kind of got some Lotus feel a little bit it's a prototype more than anything okay yeah so it was literally sculpted by Victor and me on the Fly we changed this so many times times he brought me a pile of car parts and a lot of little images that he had saved from the internet it feels like this it's got the wedge shape it's got the exposed front tires he wanted the tail pipes coming up out of the back of the car I made all that as per his specs still looking like it's flying themed he well the way we described it he's talking to me I'm like yeah it's like a dart you got a dart board and you can take that car and pin it right to the wall yeah oh my gosh look at that oh this is the Cadillac grill these two pieces of the body are Volkswagen Type 3 rear hoods panel together the fins are uh studa Baker the nose is a Lincoln Zephyr Hood the grill is a 59 edel these tail pipes I made custom so and the body itself is a Nash Metropolitan all right so what do we have here tell us the story that's the funny thing about Victor I told you he's a man with a dream so he had his guys again kacho Customs is like yeah look at this little frame right like a go-kart like a go-kart see that's the fin I told you he pulled that off a car this is a Nash Metropolitan and that's what the doors ended up remaining so we pieced it all together it's a Volkswagen engine and Chassis through the process the Lincoln zeper hood I made these custom panels on the bottom that's me I know that guy and then Victor's guys right there into the Upholstery and what you see in front of you now so is this street legal uh you could register this as a Volkswagen Type kit car yeah it has a bin number from a VW it's got a stock Volkswagen engine mechanically it's ready for the street no doubt wow what do you do with the cars that you built do you keep them yourself do you ever sell them what do you do you must get tons of offers especially after on and that's the interesting thing with Victor cuz he does have a warehouse so he has sort of a museum of all our accomplishments my stuff I'm on to the next I trade out I do whatever and yeah on to the next well speaking of on to the next what's your next project C can you tell us or give us any well this is the big news uh my wife Jamie and I have a YouTube channel great
