town will leave you feeling uplifted and energized one of the best things to do in Dingle is to go to a pub and listen to some live music Dingle is famous for its traditional Irish music scene and you'll find tons of pubs that have musicians playing every night you can hear them playing instruments like the fiddle the flute the accordion and the drum and singing songs in both English and Irish you can also join in the fun by clapping dancing or singing along and of course you have to try some of the local drinks like Guinness whiskey or Dingle gin trust me they're delicious visiting a local pub in Dingle is an experience that will stay with you long after you've left it's a chance to connect with the locals soak up the town's unique culture and enjoy some of the best live music in Ireland I've had enough of the town it's time to go out and see the natural beauty of the Dingle peninsula one of the best ways to do that is to drive along the slea head Drive which is a loop that goes around the edge of the peninsula along the way you'll see some of the most stunning views ever the ocean crashing against the cliffs the Green Hills rolling into the distance the sandy beach is inviting you to swim or Surf and the ancient monuments telling you stories from the past you'll also see some places where they filmed movies like Star Wars The Last Jedi Ryan's daughter and Far and Away how cool is that one of the highlights of the slea head Drive is Dingle Harbor which is one of the most iconic landmarks of the Town serving as both a hub for fishing and a popular destination for visitors the harbor is home to a colorful array of fishing boats and Yachts which bob up and down in the Sparkling Waters of Dingle Bay Dingle Harbor has a rich history and culture and is a great place to learn about the town's Maritime heritage the harbor is home to a number of historic buildings including the 19th Century Custom house which now houses the Dingle Ocean World Aquarium [Music] Dingle Harbor is also a great place to indulge in some fresh seafood local restaurants and seafood stalls offer a variety of dishes from Classic Fish and Chips to Freshly caught lobster and crab one of the most famous inhabitants of Dingle Harbor was fungi a wild bottlenose dolphin who became a beloved local celebrity however on October 13 2020 fungi was reported missing and is believed to have passed away the next stop on our tour of Dingle Peninsula is the Dingle Lighthouse which is at the mouth of Dingle Harbor the lighthouse was built in 1885 and it still works today it has a white Tower that's 12 meters tall and a red light that flashes every four seconds the lighthouse has awesome views of the harbor the town and the mountains another thing that you can see from a boat trip is the blaskett islands which are a bunch of islands off the coast of Dingle Peninsula the islands are empty now but they used to have people living on them who spoke Irish and wrote books about their lives you can learn more about them at the blaskett center on the mainland or you can go to the biggest island great basket Island where you can see their old houses and enjoy some hiking and Wildlife watching one of the most interesting things about Dingle Peninsula is its history and archeology the peninsula has hundreds of ancient sites some of them dating back thousands of years you can see Stone circles ring forts ogum Stones beehive huts and more of the most amazing sites is the galleris oratory which is a small Stone Church that was built sometime between the 11th and 12th century the oratory is made of huge stones that fit together without any mortar it has a roof that looks like a boat turned upside down and a tiny window that faces East the oratory is a masterpiece of early Christian architecture and engineering and it's still in great shape after all these years if you're looking for more things to do outside in Dingle Peninsula you'll have plenty of options you can chill on one of the many beaches like inch Beach or ventry Beach where you can swim surf or sunbathe you can also explore some of the hiking trails that go all over the peninsula giving you awesome views of the mountains valleys and Coast [Music] one of the most popular Trails is Mount Brandon which is the second highest mountain in Ireland it's a bit of a challenge but totally worth it for the views another Trail that's pretty cool is East Tower which is a stone tower that was built in 1847 to help ships find their way to Dingle Harbor and finally there is no better way to end your day and
