[Music] most people living outside of Palestine don't know what sorts of shops Palestine has and what products Palestine is famous for well neither did I during my Palestine trip I visited a huge Bazaar in historic city called Annapolis and it was a Showbox Paradise oh it's possibly overwhelmed by its exotic spy stalls piles of fresh vegetables clothing racks and bustling energy [Music] in this video I'm gonna share my experience at the local market in Palestine [Music] on this day I was staying in a big city called Ramallah collecting information about the situation in nebulus actually I was not sure if I would go to novelist during this trip because there had been frequent clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinians in the north of the West Bank including Annapolis even some of the personal people that I met told me not to go there at the time because it was not safe however there were also other Palestinians who said the chance of getting involved in it as a tourist was so low if I was careful hey they told me which deal was most likely to be safe so I decided to take a local shared event to Nobles on that day during the one hour and a half ride to the north I enjoyed the great view of the beautiful landscape surrounding the road and evil made a new friend in the car yeah you want to be on my YouTube yeah [Music] hey I'm with a new friend she's Aida we're going to novelist by bus now yeah it's a really great View able season one of the oldest cities in the world possibly having been established nine thousand years ago it was originally called chicken by the Canaanite and later the city was renamed neapolis by the Roman Emperor that's passion following that around Muslim conquest of the event in the 7th Century the city was given its present-day Arabic name of Annapolis the older city is a Charming area filled with white narrow streets and small shops I arrived in the city on Friday which is a weekly holiday in New Zealand so most shops were closed and whole city was quiet instead I saw a lot of colorful decorations overhead in the old town hi local people told me the next day was the birthday of prophet Muhammad and there would be a big celebration which was a fortunate coincidence for me after walking around a little I got some groceries and returned to my hotel looking forward to the next day [Music] the next morning the city looked completely different our shelves were all playing the bustling as usual in the old town it seems like everyone in the city was going out to participate in the celebrations and sometimes it was hard to even whip my ways to the crowd [Music] hello English English yes from Japan yes yes [Music] I found the people in novel super friendly and sociable since it's obvious that I'm a foreigner from Outlook as I walked around a bunch of people constantly greeted and talked to me [Music] hello hello where are you friends I'm from Japan thank you so much enjoy your day thank you nebulus is also known as the little Damascus thinkster it's Ottawa air architecture similar to the data of the Syrian capital and its reputation for being a center of learning this Market in the older cities filled with small shops selling all kinds of foods clothing and trinkets and is often associated with al-hamidiyasuk in the center of Damascus The Old City consists of eight major quarters with winding narrow streets you can easily get lost here [Music] people looked so excited for the big celebration and some are even handing out to free snacks [Music] I got some free candies [Music] [Music] I'm completely lost I just want to get something to drink yes [Music] some people call novelist palestine's capital is retreat in particular a dessert called kunafe is popular in all Arabic countries as well as in the West I had no idea where I could eat it but everyone talked with happily gave me directions to the shop do you know where I can eat left right yeah friends yes yes oh my God which direction I should go [Music] although sometimes I had a little trouble because of the language barrier eventually these kids guided me along the road he's taking me to a shop that sells kanafa okay thank you [Music] is a pastry that is layered or filled with white gold teeth soaked in a sugar syrup flavored with rose water and topped with ground nuts such as pistachios [Music] the shop seemed so popular and it was jam-packed with people who are also Desiring some delectable sweets [Music] thank you the Kunal is really good and ranked as one of my favorite foods that I had in Palestine but I couldn't enjoy peacefully because a lot of people are talking to me [Music] [Applause] I'm from Japan Japan have very good education very good culture thank you so much I think Palestine people are very friendly so I really like them too thank you yeah thank you bye-bye although I was often mistaken for Chinese or Korean at the first sight glad that many people had a positive reaction when I told them I'm from Japan nice girl and they have very good minds they are focused about food Seafood [Music] thank you [Music] I assume seeing Asia is very rare here because some people even wanted to take a picture with me it was so funny because once I stopped and took a picture with someone there is a line of Palestinians who wanted the picture as well [Music] [Applause] okay how are you oh yeah [Music] [Music] [Applause] thank you foreign Turkish bath house hamam Napolis has the oldest hamam in Palestine built almost 400 years ago in hamam you can enjoy a great hot bath a steam sauna skin exfoliation and a massage to refresh from head to toe I showed him a unique experience at this Hammam in another video so if you're interested please check it out from the link in the description now this might just seem like a lively in a welcoming place but that's not the only face that city has while I was enjoying interaction with friendly people I also couldn't help noticing the tension the city has with its ready for seed [Music] I saw people walking around holding guns in some areas in the old city where I was told not to film yeah okay I was advised not to walk alone in the evening and I heard some gunshots while sleeping at night which was something I had never experienced in my life [Music] [Applause] I was impressed that people will still warmly welcome an outsider like me in spite of the tense situation threatening their lives although I was not sure if I was even going there at first I'm really glad to have made the decision to
