Expert AI warning - Quantum computing can save us from bad tech

first of all let me say that he's one of the Giants of the field he's one of the Pioneers that helped to create the field I don't mind people saying well let's slow down a bit until we have a bit of grasp of it because remember these chat Bots will lie they can deceive they can be propagandists they can say all sorts of nonsense exactly the danger isn't it yeah the danger is that they don't understand the difference between right and wrong true and false they simply regurgitate what's already in his memory so what we need with these chat Parts is not to ban them but to have a fact Checker so that we know that they're not spouting nonsense now right now our computers are not powerful enough to do this but the next generation of computers quantum computers may be powerful enough to do fact checking for all the statements made by a chatbot our government's prepared for the scale of the challenge here uh no I think politicians are caught flat-footed by this whole thing they were cut off guard uh everyone wants to be one step ahead of their rival so the Rival doesn't grab market share without them and so that's what's driving it it's competition but competition when you tell people that the consequences of unbridled competition could be censorship then they will begin to have self-censorship so in other words I think the corporations themselves have to self-regulate independently or else or else the government will do it for it but what's your advice to ordinary men and women boys and girls up and down the country across the world though how are they to ascertain what is real and what is not people have to self-regulate in the meantime that's why scientists are writing these petitions now the average person has to say to themselves I know I will use a chatbot because it's very convenient it saves time but I realize that some of it is nonsense but but given the complexity the sophistication of all of this ordinary people we know vulnerable people for example have been ended up using chat Bots for therapy and there's got to be real risk in that hasn't there it's like when a movie is done at the very end of the movie they say this movie is fake all the characters in this movie uh are made up there's nothing true about this movie there's a disclaimer at the end of the movie now when something is done with the chatbot it has to have a disclaimer and so in the meantime for those of us who don't have quantum computers we've just got to be careful that's why it has to be self-regulation at first and then the gov the corporations have to get involved and realize that they have to self-regulate because if that doesn't happen the government will do it and then watch out all sorts of nonsense will happen uh for political game individual politicians will try to jump on the bandwagon in order to gain votes rather than to educate the people thank you very much for joining us today
