Experiment #4: DIY Lava Lamp

all right everybody we are back we had to take a little break Orion was pretty busy with school and Robotics and some other things we had going on but we're back making our own lava lamp today so follow along carefully it's pretty simple you need baking soda vinegar um oil and food coloring and any color that you want to make it Orion's going to make his yellow I believe unless he changes his mind yep okay so go ahead buddy show them how it's done so first you take this baking soda fill it with two heaping spoons of it TBL heaping tablespoons heaping tablespoon whatever you want to call it it's going to fling out of there buddy you don't need to dig too hard okay okay and then bam Stir It On up I'll just s it a little okay okay and now uh you want it to be 90% oil and 10% vinegar is the goal so we going to do our best with that so when you're pouring you need to leave a little air gap uhuh so that should pour out like that and you should put some vegetable or canola oil on our grocery list Dad I'm just going to let the um YouTube will see that we have to put it to heal on the mockings yep so you have to do this for a while yeah gug gug gug yeah he's chugging his chug right that looks good yep we're going to need more for that more of that stuff for cooking huh and now we put in the food covering so it's probably good Orion okay good you don't need to stir it yet you got to put the vinegar in oh um okay into the line that we had drawn there okay it should be good it's going to be a little orangey cuz you put a lot of food coloring okay well orange actually should be my favorite color cuz my two favorite colors are yellow and red and yellow plus red equals orange okay okay all right and then we pour that in okay all right and the reaction should start with the vinegar and the baking soda and we're going to get a rubber band a rubber band and we don't have a jar lid so we're going to use um piece of suran wrap oh I hope and we can just oh boy maybe not did they put a lid on theirs in the video Isa maybe just poke one little hole in it all right so don't put a lid on yours cuz it'll explode off but we put one little hole just so that it can breathe and we will bring this over to our light do not try this at home and see what it looks like under the light yeah let's go there go there go let's go let's go okay I'm doing the Hest so whoa and you guys have yourself a DIY lava L very cool buddy yeah all right talk to you all later bye
