today I'm showing you exactly how I would personally put together a brand new one thousand dollar gaming PC and we're also going to be comparing it to my last one thousand dollar gaming PC build guide just to see how things have changed over the last few months now I've done several one thousand dollar builds recently but they're not all good comparison in this video I was obligated to use some parts for a sponsorship and we even used an AliExpress GPU and then in this build guide I ended up using some used parts so they aren't great comparisons for our video today the last time I made a 1 000 build that was completely starting from scratch and didn't have any sponsorships or spare parts in inventory was this build nine months ago so that's what we're going to be comparing to and please just remember who you're dealing with when you're watching this type of build guide obviously I do value price performance but Aesthetics over everything and you know that I'm the type of person that's gonna spend a little extra money just to make sure the build looks clean because that's important regardless of which side you favor this is still going to be a baller AF gaming PC so let's jump right into it after a quick word from today's sponsor since I know my audience is always interested in saving money when building and selling gaming PCs today's video sponsor gvg Mall can definitely help you out with that I've worked with gvg mall for so long now and have bought probably close to 100 Keys myself and they're hooking you all up big time with the 25 off discount if you use code zdt 18 with the link in the description gvg mall has Windows activation keys as well as Microsoft Office game keys for platforms like Steam and origin and they even have console stuff too like PSN and Xbox prepaid cards activating Windows couldn't be easier just paste in the key that you get instantly after paying on the website so remove that ugly unactivated watermark for good don't forget to use ztt18 for 25 off with the link in the description starting with the CPU this is honestly one of the toughest choices to make for this price range in my opinion and that's because we do have so many options to choose from I'm personally somebody that values getting the latest and greatest in the newest generation products especially if you're spending one thousand dollars on a gaming PC so for the CPU I went with the Intel i5 13400f now this is absolutely a monster of a gaming CPU and I highly recommend it but you certainly could tweak this around a bit to get more GPU performance if you choose a cheaper CPU for example you could downgrade to the Intel i5 12400f which saves you some money and then you can apply that extra money towards a better graphics card same thing with a ryzen 5 5600 or 5600x both of those would work perfectly fine but they have less options in terms of future proofing in my opinion I like the 13400f because it's not only the latest generation from Intel but we also learned that the Intel 14th generation will be staying on this same socket which means our motherboard will indeed be able to handle a CPU upgrade later on down the line if you think you'll take advantage of that and speaking of which here I went with the gigabyte b760 gaming X ax ddr5 and there wasn't a ton of thought that went into this which is typical for my motherboard selections since we won't be doing any overclocking I simply went with the cheapest full-size ATX b760 motherboard that I could find again I like being on the latest generation and I also want a one with ddr5 instead of ddr4 but again that's just for future proofing you absolutely can build a 1 000 gaming PC with ddr4 ram and it'll be able to play any title but again this is exactly how I would personally do a 1 000 build here in mid 2023 and I like the latest and greatest this Ram here is the Kingston Fury Beast 2x8 gigabyte kit that's clocked at 6 000 megahertz and it'll be nice to know that in like two or three years from now this will still be a solid kit of RAM and it won't be on a dead ddr4 platform so with that being said now that we have our CPU RAM and motherboard combo listed out let's take a quick look at what I recommended in my 1 000 build guide from nine months ago back then I had the previous gen Intel i5 12400f shout out to our I3 typo in the build parts list in the video by the way we also had an MSI mag b660m mortar Wi-Fi motherboard and here's the 16 gigabyte ddr4 kit that I was just talking about obviously our combo today is objectively better and newer although we are paying more money so we'll have to keep an eye on the budget later on next up for parts in our build today we have some storage obviously and here's the MSI spatium m450 one terabyte MVD drive and this does in fact Rock Gen 4 speeds this is a pretty budget or entry level gem for nvme option but I do like like that we aren't stuck on the previous gen 3 and this SSD only costs like 38 on NewEgg so it's a great pickup I've actually been buying a ton of these MSI spadium drives for our builds that we sell on ztt builds.com you guys have been purchasing these builds like crazy lately and linked to that is always down in the description going back to our build from nine months ago here's where you can see some serious Market change happening as I only managed to get a 500 gigabyte WD blue sm570 which is only a gen 3 drive and I also paid five dollars more for that one SSD prices have come down big time over the last six months or so and we're now getting double the storage the faster gem four speeds and paying less for the SSD that's a big dub next up we have the power supply and today I went with the apevia prestige 800 watt and this is an 80 plus gold certified unit That's rated tier C on the PSU tier list this isn't an amazing power supply or anything but for a mid-range one thousand dollar build and given our current PSU market conditions I think a TRC is acceptable here if you want to upgrade to a tier B model you have to pay 20 or 30 dollars more and that'll be fine for most people to go slightly over budget but if you do have a very strict budget for what ever reason like I do in this video and we did go ahead touch over budget then this one will be perfectly fine to get I also plugged in some easy DIY black extensions just to clean the build up a bit and yes I did try not one but two different light blue cable extension kits to try to match with our case but they just weren't cooperating here I would have thought due to the pictures that at least the Asia horse cables would have matched perfectly but as you can see these are slightly different Blues so I had to dial it down a little bit to the black color but I think this still looks great and then for a build from nine months ago here you can see that the power supply I used was actually a used EVGA 750 GT from evga-b stock and that definitely used to be the meta when B stock readily had options available other than a sale that happened like a couple of weeks ago evgab stock has been drier than a desert lately so I can't rely on them for power supplies anymore I also use white Asia horse cable extensions in that build nothing has changed or will change in that department anytime soon getting towards the end here we get to the case and I actually didn't realize this at first but I essentially use the same case but just a different version in both of these build guides as you guys know at this point I'm a huge fan of this fractal design pop mini and pop air series because of the clean look and pre-installed RGB fans and I actually recommend it to a lot of my Consulting clients which you can check out at zackstackdrift.com Consulting if you ever need one-on-one help from me for your next gaming PC project I got you covered over there but yeah today I decided on the pop air black and blue model and I love how this looks by itself the blue accent really makes this build pop and it'll be a conversation piece on top of anyone's desk and I'm still just a little upset that I couldn't find extensions to perfectly match with it a perfectly matched light blue and black set of cable extensions would have looked perfect in here comment down below if there's a specific model that you think I should have went with but finally it's time to get to the graphics card and the market has certainly shifted on this category as well today we're using an MSI Mech 2x RX 6700xt and this only costs 340 dollars the 6700 XT is gaining so much praise over these past couple of months of awful GPU launches such as the 46d and 4060 TI and the 6700 XT remains one of the best pricing performance options available for mid-range systems this is a hybrid between a 1080P and 1440p card depending on the game and how high of settings you want and the best part is that it only costs around 320 to 350 bucks brand new the car we went with last time was this power color hellhound Spectra white RX 6650xt and I paid a nice 420 for this one nine months ago we definitely did pay extra for the all-white model so it's an apples to Orange comparison here but I believe the 6700 XTS were around the 400 to 450 mark back then so prices have definitely come down since then we'll be fully testing this Intel i5 13400f and 6700 XT combo in just a bit we have one more part to go over before that though it's worth mentioning that I think we found blood yet again on some PC Hardware we literally just went through this with our Jawa video a couple of weeks ago and our investigation results ended up being wrong because it wasn't actually blood there but this time I don't think it could be anything else I've watched literally every single episode of Dexter so I know a thing or two about blood splatter surprise and this is definitely blood here on the gpu's PCB we bought this card brand new from Newegg but I would guess this came from somebody on the assembly line for MSI honestly the only reason I care is because it messes up my black and blue color design but if you purchase this PC from us please don't sue us because I'm warning you about it now but now moving on to our last part you may have noticed this already but we have some jankiness here with the CPU Cooler and this is because your boy values Aesthetics too much this was originally supposed to be a deep cool AG 400bk because that's one of our go-to black argb air coolers that we go with but for this teal color there was a big difference in the color between this fan and the case fans that came pre-installed I almost just went with it but I can't do that to you guys so I made the aesthetically best decision that I had available and that was to swap out the slightly off argb fan with just a random black fan that I had laying around in the studio if you are trying to copy this at home then I would just go with an all black cooler like the ID cooling 224 XTS or something similar but if you do want RGB then I would try again with a different argb cooler like the vitro V5 we usually don't have any issues pairing the fractal design rgbs with the AG 400bk but for some reason it just didn't look right today so I had to make the switch with that wrapped up though here's what our final parts list is looking like and we did go a touch over budget like I tried to avoid but I think it's Justified for such an updated system we are indeed spending extra money going with the latest Intel generation a b760 motherboard and ddr5 RAM but again this guide is how I would personally do it and I wouldn't want to spend 1 000 on a build and get last generation Parts but next up it's time to test this build out and for time saving measures we only benchmarked everything in 1080P we absolutely could run any game in 1440p if we wanted to with this system but you obviously have to dial in the settings a bit more for that first up we tested fortnite and with the settings at 1080P and probe we got 299 FPS and this is a huge 28 increase over what we got with the one thousand dollar bill from nine months ago after that we tested Apex Legends and when we put the settings at 1080p very high we got 236 FPS and this is an 11 increase over the last bill Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 followed up next and in 1080P Ultra we got 126 FPS and that's about what we got with the previous build but back then we were testing Call of Duty Vanguard which is obviously completely different for Grand Theft Auto 5 we're pushing the CPU more to the Limit here and with 1080p in very high settings we got 148 FPS which is pretty solid and by finally we tested 3dmark time Spike and the reason we run this Benchmark for every build is for a direct comparison exactly how we were doing today our build from nine months ago got a score of 9858 but today's bill got a whopping 12 794. that's a huge 30 increase and that's all attributed to the newer generation CPU upgrading from ddr4 to the much faster ddr5 and then of course the bump from the 6650 XT to the 6700 XT and here's the other games that we tested for those of you that are looking for a specific game I'm not gonna lie I've seen a significant decrease in the amount of requests down in the comments section ever since we started to add rust and Ark survival evolved to our benchmarking runs per usual though let us know if there's ever a title you think we should add here and if you want to check out yet a different way on how to build a 1 000 gaming PC that I made like three months ago or so then feel free to click the video that's on the screen now
