what is going on guys a21 mayo here and in today's video i'll be talking about all the roles in their jobs in rainbow six siege before we jump into the video i quickly want to mention that 50 of you guys are not subscribed so if you guys have not hit that sub button already i would really appreciate it i also want to mention that i'm doing coaching so if you guys are interested in that there's a link to my patreon where all of your questions can be answered by scrolling to the bottom of the page and yes i do coach console players lastly there's also a link to my second channel where you can find content from my twitch live stream to your lists or private coaching sessions now with all of that being said let's jump into the video hey guys future a21 mayo here this video is going to go into a lot of great detail so if you guys are wanting to really know about all the roles in the game get a piece of paper or get on your phone to write down notes i promise you you're going to want to take notes because like man oh man there's a lot of good info in this video firstly i want to talk about the attacking side of roles and what they mean to start this off let's talk about the players who will be playing support flex and entry so just to give a basic breakdown of what each of these three roles are supposed to do let's begin with the entry fragger now even though it's in the name fragging does not mean that's what their job is primarily what the primary focus should be from an entry fragger is to take map control not hunt for kills usually you'll see an entry fragger droned in but more on that later for right now let's focus on entry fragging as i said this role's name is not their intended purpose their main goal should be to take map control or to have that first step into the map granting the attacker's map control the reason an entry fragger is named what it is because most of the time the players who are playing this role will usually be the first person who takes the first few gunfights during a round which is why it's called entry fragger this is why you see highly skilled players with a lot of gun skill and confidence playing this role because if they do need to take that gun fight they will need that mechanical skill to allow them to deal with whoever is in their path now the next common role you might hear is flex and this role is pretty self-explanatory the players in this role will be the ones who will adjust their operators around the enemy to better suit the team's needs the flexibility of the player on a large pool of operators can really help the team if they need to bring someone in specific during a round now lastly the support role this role is for the players who might not be too confident in their shot but are still expected to do their job support players are usually on operators like thermite hibana or maverick they're the ones who will most likely be droning in the entry fragging operators okay so now that we understand what each of these roles mean and what their base level job is let's pick each of these roles apart since it's still fresh in our mind let's continue talking about the support role in the primary role in its name you can have multiple jobs for the players in these respected roles you can have something called the soft support and hard support the biggest difference between the two is that when a soft support operator dies it doesn't mean that the round's over meanwhile if the hard support operator dies like a thermite you no longer have access to opening a reinforced surface now what operators can you expect to see when naming these two sub-categorized roles as for a soft support it could be a secondary hard breach in combination with the primary one or an operator like thatcher sometimes montain dokabee and lion or kali it does all depend on what the other operators might be in the lineup i'm not saying that a lion in dokkaebi is always a soft support operator but they can be now as for hard support operators it could be any hard breacher really when it comes to someone saying they play hard support and comp it usually boils down to the operators that have the most influence when it comes to utility during any given round so far from what we understand are the basics when it comes to the support role which is soft and hard support so when you name off these roles you should also have some very basic jobs that they should be doing during any given round now keep in mind that just because i'm attaching these jobs to this role does not mean that these jobs cannot be changed or moved around this video is not here to give you everything you need to know more or less a foundation for what you should expect in most situations and to help you learn how roles are played and what their jobs are so as a support player you'll commonly see that on the hard support role someone's job is to igl if you don't know what an igl is it's an abbreviation for in-game leader and what their job is to make sure that the tempo of an attacking round is fluid and if there are any issues that player will most likely be the one to problem solve and then relay that information to their team again i'm not saying that only a support player can igl it's just seen most commonly since this is very likely the slowest role on attack this way they can think clearer with less stress from gunfights or being closer to the front line the whole round another job you might commonly see for a support player is being the primary planter i'm going to use a player here as an example some of you might know the name goga a pro player currently for vitality and also known for playing on g2 in the past he's known as one of the best support players in the world with his ability to go from planting one second to getting a three piece in the blink of an eye and the role that goga primarily plays is support but keep in mind what i said earlier just because someone is on support doesn't mean that they are also an igl these jobs can be moved around to different players depending on how comfortable they feel or for other reasons same thing applies to goga just because he plays hard support most of the time does not also mean that he's an igo makes sense one last and final thing when it comes to support players is them being the primary droners so you know how i said earlier about an entry fragger being droned in for map control while this is where it applies since a support player and operator is so important and if they die it could have a massive impact in how a round has played well if these players are going to be in the back lines let's put them to some use right which is where them droning entry fraggers in is so important since they will need to be kept alive during the majority or all of the round a support player will either place a drone outside of the map near a window or doorway and have the entry fragger spawn in the closest location for them to take the map control or you have something which is called a cut-off drone which is effectively doing the same thing but in a much more efficient manner since you won't have to drone everything up to the point of the cutoff drone instead the entry fragger will take the map control up to the point of where the drone is okay i know that was probably a lot to take in but i hope that helps now let's talk about the next basic role flex in the flex roll as i said earlier this is where a player on your team will be flexing between a pool of operators adjusting to the enemy some operators you might see on this role are attackers like capitao montane lion dokaby jackal nomad gridlock ayanna cali ying sledge buck twitch and iq i said that all in one take i'm a god now you might notice a few operators from earlier when i was talking about the soft support this is what i mean by me saying that just because i classify one operator to soft support doesn't mean that they can't also be a flex operator it really does come down to what the rest of the attacking lineup looks like since there are so many different operators here i'm not going to focus too much on each individually but more or less a basic understanding of what jobs you might see assigned to this role so one of the most basic ones if it's allowed a flex player will fill the spot of an entry fragger if they die early and map control still needs to be taken or you also might see a flex player have the job of something called flank watch now with this name it's pretty self-explanatory whenever you have an operator like nomad or gridlock these two operators are known as flank denial operators and when you have an op like this it's safe to assume that they will be the ones watching or sometimes even setting up flank drones they will do this until it comes to the point of sight execution or their utility is needed closer to the line or if a teammate dies and their flank watching utility is set up they will then rotate to the line to fill the dead person spot or to an area closer to the bomb site another subcategory that falls under flex and sometimes even entry frag is called soft breach slash nades this name is also self-explanatory but it's a good thing to mention this role will be the players who will mostly be sticking between two operators like sledge or buck their job is to well of course soft breach if they need to use a nade for utility or clearing a defender from an area that's their job or if they need to apply some sort of vertical play that's also their job whatever and wherever their utility is needed they should be there i know that this is a lot of information but i'm trying to go into as much detail as possible so if you're still watching until this point pause the video go down to the comment section and confuse the hell out of everyone there by commenting the word pool why the word pool because of the operator pool that flex players can choose from now if you don't do this you're only going to be able to attach a red dot to all of your guns for the rest of your life we got a deal now that we have talked about the macro and micro lens versions of support and flex and everything that falls under it let's finally finish up with the entry fragger roll when it comes to entry fragging it's important that you approach it with the right mindset as an entry understand that your main goal that you're going for is map control and in the process you're going to have obstacles which are the defenders so you have to do whatever it is in your power to get rid of these obstacles to grant you access to your primary goal which is map control so once you understand that let's bring some operators in and break this down more what operators you can expect to see on the entry role are operators like ash zofia sledge buck twitch and iq again it does come down to your team's composition as well there are two different kinds of entry fraggers the primary and secondary entry fraggers the difference between the two can be a multitude of things it could be who has the most important utility who's more confident with the entry where they're attacking from and many other reasons but from my experience in watching other pro league players it mainly boils down to utility since if you're on the entry roll you should already be confident in your shots but anyways i want to bring up another pro league example so if you look at the team ssg you'll primarily see fultz as the primary entry frag while the other player rampy on the secondary entry will be playing an operator like sledge or buck that is from the flex category this is from my experience watching them play it could all change who knows but from what i've seen from watching them this applies most of the time alright so now that i've explained everything to the best of my ability without making anything too specific let's move on to the defending side of the game and its roles so to start us off let's go over the basic rules like we did on attack and then break them all down to begin this breakdown let's first look at the most basic role information this role is primarily there to give you intel for you and your team to react off of and position yourself around the bomb site or map i'm sure some of you might know what operators i'm talking about but for the people who don't i'll give you a list ops like valk maestro echo mira impulse now you might realize that i'm missing mozzie in that list and yes he is missing for a reason i don't consider mauzy an intel operator until he has intel i'm talking about ops that if you bring them you are 100 going to have gadgets that you can use to grant you access to information around the map mazi does not guarantee intel every round like valk does now i want to talk about ops like maestro and echo a little bit more these two operators are very much like support operators on attack they should have the same thought process of getting on cams early and seeing where the attackers are pushing from so that way they can relay that information to their teammates which brings me to my next role on defense support the support role is very similar and different to the attacking side as i just mentioned as an anchor or support player you should be the one checking cams around the map and giving that information to your roamers or in comparison entry fragger on attack so some operators that you could consider defensive support operators are defenders like echo maestro smoke mute dock rook to chunk and sometimes castle the people who are going to be in the back lines or anchoring so to speak on the bomb site these are the opposite are really going to be the glue for the team and foundation for the defense they're the ones to play the bomb site and the operators that other people don't want to play now i want to talk about our crowd control operators before i talk about the role itself let's understand what this name means crowd control or plantail operators are there to do their job at denying planet or denying the attackers access to areas of the map or stalling them so to speak you can expect operators like tachonka smoke and goyo in this role now goyo not so much as you rarely see his fire shields as actual plant denial but you will definitely see it in front of a doorway or a window to crowd control or keep the attackers at bay from allowing them to walk into sight these are some of the most important operators in the whole lineup as they act as a safety net for the defensive team to not allow the attackers to plant where they want and if they die it will have a severe impact in how a round is played on defense and moving on to one of the last roles in the video are burnt operators and or role this role is for the people who love playing operators like jaeger will mai and aruni you heard me right aruni if she places her traps in the right locations she can definitely be a burnt operator very much like jaeger she becomes even more influential when she is combined with a jaeger oral mai or even both now when it comes to these operators you will often see them also be the roamer or flanker if it's needed which brings me back to the intel role of getting on cams and feeding that info to the roamers so that way they can adjust their positions accordingly now when it comes to roamers well mai doesn't necessarily fall under this category since he is actively generating magnets during a round but if it's needed he can still flank or leave the site when it's appropriate these operators are primarily going to be pushed up further than the rest of the team since they can afford to die and not use utility but i'm not saying it's okay for you to die what i mean when i say afford is when a jager dies all you lose is a gun and a body meanwhile if a smoke dies you just lost a body in all three smoke canisters speaking of dying let's talk about the second to last rule on this list roamers the roaming role is misinterpreted on the same level as the entry fragger as a roamer you are not there to get kills the same way an entry fragger isn't either as a roamer your primary focus should be to waste time i would much rather have someone waste two minutes on a roam than for someone to get an early pick on an ash and then rotate back sight in under a minute in the process of you hitting the roam you should be trying to shoot as many drones as possible without exposing yourself to dying not only are you wasting a large amount of time but in the process you should be chipping away slowly at the attacker's drone count now the reason behind this is because as you do this you're now making the attackers jobs harder at allowing them to get intel on your support operators or anchors on site so if you're someone who likes to roam don't think about yourself also keep in mind how important the four other players on site are r2 okay i know all of this was a lot to take in but i want to talk about our last and final role on this list which is our flex players now when it comes to flex players on defense you won't really see them too often as you would see on attack the main reason is because while you're on defense you will usually have a fairly strict structure to your defense that won't always allow you to change up an operator like you will be able to do on attack so keep this in mind i hope all of this makes sense before i go i want to give some general tips when it comes to applying a structure like this if you're only playing ranked using roles and structures like this is fine but roles work much better whenever there is a basic skeleton or blueprint for your attack or defense another thing to keep in mind is if you're on a competitive team write out or make a very basic strat with operators and roles so you and your team have zero confusion on where utility goes and where people should play then apply their roles to that strat and everything else i said earlier now that is going to wrap up today's video if you guys enjoyed or learned anything new make sure to leave a like on the video writing the script alone took a lot of thought and time so seriously guys liking the video is free it has a much bigger impact than you think it does as i said at the beginning of the video 50 of you guys aren't subscribed so if you guys have not hit that sub button already i would greatly appreciate it lastly before i go i want to mention that i'm doing coaching so whether you're on pc or console i can coach you i have many different tiers so if you guys are interested in that there's a link to my patreon down below in the description while you're down there you can also find a link to my second channel as well as a link to my org the wichita wolves which i am a content creator for but with all of that being said i hope you guys enjoyed i hope you learned something new and i will see you guys in the next video now for all my non-english speaking viewers out there i'm going to start leaving the full word for word script in the descriptions of my videos this way you guys can read along or translate to your
