Bought a last minute ticket for like 7 bucks In Upper reserve right field. I dont think I'll ever make a better purchase again . The silence was incredible when Blanco dove for that fly to right center
I paid three dollars apiece for three tickets to this game. Three fucking dollars. Granted I was in the last row up top above the first base line...but I was there. The best part is I couldn't find a taker for the third ticket (it was the Astros after all) so when the game ended every person I'd asked to go was texting me to share their regret.
This game was an incredible experience. I remember looking at his strikes and balls after 4 innings and thinking, "Man, Cain's got a good game going." It hit me in the fifth what was happening. The really fascinating thing was the feeling of each person in the park slowly realizing what was at stake. Just watching the hushed conversations of folks trying to state what was happening without enumerating it was really funny. The crowd noise grew with each inning and the video posted by OP really does a good job of showing that. I started chanting "Let's go Giants" at the top of the seventh and suddenly felt that if I stopped things would go wrong. So I continued through the rest of the game with breaks in between innings to get my voice back. It's by far the most superstitious moment of my life.
This was a baseball experience unlike any I'll ever probably have. For about four innings, every single pitch was steeped with tension. Every. Single. Pitch. Arias' throw hitting Belt's glove was such a relief.
Blanco's catch is hands down my favorite moment in baseball history. Bonds may have hit 71 and 72 on my birthday. We may have won 3 world series. I watched 756. I've seen many other no-hitters.
But that God Damn catch. I have never experienced anything like it. I didn't think there was a chance in hell he would get it. I had already started yelling, thinking history was over. Then out of fucking nowhere, he shows up with the ball.
Fucking incredible.
I lived on the stupid East coast then with there stupid time zone but I'll never forget my wife waking me up in the 8th inning so I can see the end of the game
18th b-day for me, never got a better present.
Thanks Matt!
I'll never not get a thrill of anxiety when Arias takes that extra little stumble and fires off the throw.
I was there!
Was invited to go as a team building exercise. Didn't much like my coworkers and loathed my manager so I said I couldn't go. Some plans fell through and so I called back. Ended up going with them. Had one coworker saying he's perfect after every inning until the 7th when I hit him in the arm and said it'd be his face next time. Ended up being one of if not the best game I've ever been to.
He is probably my favorite Giant at this point. Grew up with Matt Williams, then Barry, then Cain and Timmy and the old horse is hard to top. Class act.
