about how we don't have written welcome to Russell heritage golf today we're talking about the two most kind of common amateur problems that we see as I mentioned in the last video there's variables in the golf swing in the respects that there's rotation around the forearms the way that we hold the club let alone the biomechanics and our general set makeup is what sets us all apart means that we're all going to look very slightly differently when it comes to executing a golf swing the point in this video there really is to kind of just keep getting the message across of the channel that you need to be careful I think that fundamentally there's probably three things which normally go wrong in a golf or swing which causes discrepancies and then it just generally depends how you compensate if you're a golfer who has curvature on the golf ball which is undesirable if you're somebody who is vulnerable of off-center hits if you're somebody who doesn't compress the ball without curvature being applied towards the golf ball or if you're somebody who just generally like I said struggles to compress the ball especially with the longer clubs then you most definitely fall into this category what's happened recently is that you know thankfully through the YouTube and stuff more people have come to visit for lessons which has been fantastic and I think the reason why is that a lot of the stuff that I talked about has obviously been very relatable for a lot of golfers and that's why I try and portray this message of movement across on the channel because I do generally think if you can understand it and I mean truly understand it then you have a really good chance of improving and revolutionising what you do however the reason that prompted this video is that recently I've put a couple of little videos out and quite a few golfers and maybe making associations of things that don't necessarily exist so let's talk about the two kind of problems first what happens in the golf swing is that to categorize them as simply as we can we generally see golfers who have like a slidy sort of early hip extension movement coming in towards the golf ball as probably one of the most common problems or we potentially see golfers that are more kind of over the top coming in towards the downswing so they might look more rotational through the hit but they kind of come more this way so in essence we see golfers that kind of exaggerated start the downswing kind of more this way all we see golfers kind of start the downswing the reason why these movements are happening is because of a couple of things and it's mainly to do with not understanding exactly how the hips is both the sequence in the golf swing the reason why I'm trying to portray this message is because I think quite a few golfers genuinely believe that because the club goes on the plane or because the club goes out here it forces you to come back on the other way or because it goes this way it forces you to come back over the top and when I first started getting into golf coaching ago very much used to talk about the club and the plane and the orientation of the movement because that was kind of all I knew but it wasn't until I started to learn and understand how the body moved more that I could all of a sudden start to understand that if you can move the body correctly then this thing is generally going to react exactly the same sort of way so common problems oK we've been here before in the channel but we're going to retry over them again because they're really problem problematic for most authors let's talk about our golfer who would create the early hip extension what happens when we create the early hip extension is that when you swing up towards the top of the backswing one way or another you are not turning the hips or turning the pelvis into the leg right and this is probably the most important thing to get out of this video so far as I get myself set up I make sure that my posture my belt buckle is pointing down towards the ball so I'd create a nice Bend of the hip so my pelvis is neutral right relative to me and basically means that I'm free to move from this position now right my width of stance is roughly as you can see in cut that ankles in line with the hip bone what I'm doing in my backswing position now is that I am trying to keep my pelvis downward facing and I'm trying to get the feeling that I'm turning in my actual pelvis itself into the leg okay now as you can see as I demonstrate this movement to you one it keeps me compressing credibly centered right so I stay basically still in terms of what my head's doing I start to trigger a rotational movement as well as it I'm putting pressure in towards this side and I start to get activation in the hip area okay what also would happen as a byproduct of this is that you know through a little bit of movement through the wrist and all the rest of it don't get me wrong there is a degree of rotation with the but the club starts to fall naturally more on plane now what happens with our golfer who doesn't execute the backswing in that way and obviously carry it on is that what they start to do is that they pivot around the back leg or I'll give you maybe around the front leg which means instead of the rotation looking this way right as you can see I'm demonstrating here keeping this flex they start to look this way okay I know you know I'm not massively over exaggerating this this is pretty much what I see with our golfers that send the swings into the channel or a lot of good people that come to visit for lessons because your general kind of conception of the backswing is to make sure pressure goes in towards this side now what we can see from here is that my spine ends are being in a lot of flexion right which means that I've lost the natural kind of shape of my spine angle which suggests again I'm not rotating correctly so although the weight is on this side right if you go back to the video which I talked about and yesterday about the kind of best tip I can offer golfers from this sort of position now I can't separate without the upper body moving at the same rate of rotation which basically means that now I am stuck I'm going to do one of two things right I'm either going to drop the club down and early hip extend and get flippy or I'm potentially going to try and turn my hips and therefore I'm forced to work the upper body at the same rate of rotation which means aa swing over the top it's the same problem for golfers who maybe aren't this way inclines right they're more this way inclined so they create more of a sway it's exactly the same problem if I sway again the way my body moves I'm positioned over this leg it's another pivot point so I'm basically over the actual leg itself I'm stuck which means again if I try and open up my lower body my upper body less physically possible unless you were to try and you know drop the club down back onto plane which again would trigger the early hip extension you're forced to do one of two things which would be swinging over the top or drop it down and this is what I generally say I sit on the channel all the time this is why you get variations of this and there might be golfers the thing well I don't look that way or I don't look that way and I'm and that but you're within that same parameter of fault okay just because your backswing doesn't necessarily look this way completely even if I'm just a little bit this way it's still the same problem it just looks ever so slightly different it still means that you can't create separation it still means that from this position you can't drive the hips downward and compress the ball and you're gonna get stuck one way or another so the point of this video is that and the point of the YouTube channel in terms of the content is to genuinely help people improve the level of understanding of the golf swing for things that actually matter and I know this because when I get the opportunity to work with golfers yes I'm not suggesting after an immediately short space of time that they start to just immediately compress the ball in Haiti 20 yards further but what they do can do is that they're capable of mirage' ng movements very quickly and all of a sudden once you can understand it it becomes more logical and it will live with you so my advice is really that in the last video you can do this little separation tip first okay my other a piece of advice is that if you did start to move correctly okay in terms of the rotation going back yes as you know on the channel when I've talked about things like the takeaway there are are the movements going on with the hands and arms but if you can understand how to move this in your golf swing then you have a really good chance of becoming a successful golfer and I know this from the people that have been sending emails in kind emails in golfers or to the game late but can understand this and they demonstrate a very high level and that's why because they're relating to this because they know how important this hit rotation movement is and understanding that it's not just turn your back to the target because again now I've moved over my leg and it means I can't separate you know it's not this way you know and your head starts to move in you're stuck in flexion it's not sway you know it is actually just fundamentally understanding turn the power this in towards the leg create that sense of resistance underneath that trail side you'll get activation in the back of the hip air in all of a sudden you'll have a backswing where you look Center do you put in pressure and you have the ability to mirror image it on the way down and a way you can go right so hopefully you understand the video it's kind of like the idea is that rather than thinking you have a different fall time you know like said it's generally you either swing you either get stuck over here and you're forced to swing over the top and compensate or you are kind of getting stuck too much over this sort of side and then you're forced early hip extend and obviously yes there are other ways of doing it right you could move this way and then laterally move and then try and time they hit at the bottom but in my opinion it won't be the most consistent way to move forward hopefully you enjoy the video as always you know I always appreciate a thumbs up everybody always does be great to get your kind of comments in the box below it you know it'd be great to see if you guys are understanding it and if you're kind of getting the general message across from the channel this moment reference the golf swing as ever you know you can send swings into the channel that's absolutely free send them into my social media platforms the links for those are in the description below and basically yeah remember press that subscribe button that's also absolutely free press the little bell icon just basically means you'll receive notifications every time a new video comes out which is pretty much I'm trying hard at the moment to keep bringing content out daily just to help you guys as much as I possibly can that's it for today hopefully you understand the message is like yes we all look slightly different the effectively it stems around the same sort of problem make sure you watch yesterday's video as well around that kind of best tip that I can offer you because hopefully you start to understand the message I'm really trying to portray catch up with you guys soon
