It’s fascinating to watch the bold and jarring color pop up with Gone with the Wind and then slowly see black and white yield to color exclusively.
It’s also interesting to realize how few women above the age of, say, 40 actually seem to win.
And, of course, when you actually see with your own eyes that Halle Berry is the only woman of color to have won, it’s a bit disappointing.
Thank you for sharing this. At one point in my life, a couple of decades ago, I made it my mission to see every Oscar-winning performance (along with every Best Picture and Director winner). I managed to watch every one of these except 3 of the earlier ones. Life got in the way of finishing the task, but I should track those down to complete the list.
For some of them I barely remember the movies at this point, but most of those short glimpses brought back some very good memories and feelings. So, thank you.
