in faithfulness you know we get to thank God we get to worship God because the god that we serve is faithful are you glad that the god that you serve is faithful to us let us pray Lord thank you for God has sent the spirit of his son into our hearts crying Abba Father so you are no longer a slave but a son and if a son then an heir through God we have been redeemed because of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ now we can be connected to our perfect Heavenly Father and maybe you're here and you've been praying for something maybe that something is financial breakthrough or health or a promotion or maybe you're praying for someone dear to you or you're praying for someone to be reconciled with this a good reminder and encouragement for all of us that we have been redeemed we're Sons and Daughters we can ask our Abba Father our perfect Father in heaven and we can just ask but he can hear us are you glad that we have a God who hears us and answered our prayers not his not our terms but his terms that is why we can confidently worship Him because you are a father to us a perfect father that loves your children sorry thank you for Gathering us this morning to worship you to be reminded that we're sons and daughters that we have been redeemed we are loved we are affirmed we are secured that no amount of circumstances in this life will ever stop us to experience your love kids such light and life and Hope we thank you for the light you have already shown to them into their hearts and we pray that they may be increasingly open to all your have chosen to reveal in your recollection and served them and not just that we're not just after connecting with them with the hope of disciping them as well and also this coming month we're going to have our level up young level up from transitioning to grade 12 to college grade 12 students we invite them to join this event level up in the space bucket we want to equip them and we want to prepare them to be successful college with ourselves we work hard which is not bad until it comes to the point now most of our time is consumed by our work by thinking of thinking of how can we earn more money more money and so this verse wants to remind us now young lordship is in this verse reminds us now see Lord Jung is to serve nothing Our God who ultimately provides for our need the God our Father who knows what we need who knows how how to meet our needs even the the strength that we need to make wealth you know so as we grow in our relationship with God I hope and pray that we see him not just our heavenly father who knows our need but who will provide for our need who will be our Ultimate Security in LA or in abundance okay so as a church we are here to stand with you in faith and in prayers that's why envelopes where drawn into your embrace there's healing in Jesus name in Jesus name [Music] in Jesus name let you know [Music] Luke chapter 5 verse 12 to 14. while he was in one of the Cities there came a man full of leprosy and when he saw Jesus he fell on his face and begged him Lord if you will you can make me clean and Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him saying I will be clean and immediately the leprosy left him and he charged him to tell no one but to go show yourself to the priests and make an offering for your cleansing as Moses commanded for a proof to them let us pray father we are grateful that indeed in your name in your presence there is healing that in your name and in your presence we are no longer lacking and so today even as we go into your word let this truth become true in our lives let your words speak to us and establish this truth that it's not just a song we sing on a Sunday but it is a life that we live every single day in Jesus name we pray amen and amen good morning [Music] palano we are on a series titled even in the impossible and this is our third week and we have been going through the book of Luke The Book of Luke and as we have said uh last week Luke is a doctor and he was tasked by a man named Theophilus to write a careful account of the life of Jesus his encounters in particular what we are focusing on in the series is the accounts of Jesus when he face seemingly impossible things impossible odds that's why the title is even in The Impossible and that our hope is that in the midst of all of the Miracles that we will study we will see Miracles Jesus and in as much as the Miracles are great it's amazing it's at times breathtaking we know that when Jesus performs a miracle though it meets our felt needs my felt needs you know saying yeah you can feel the person next to you to look back okay felt needs although those Miracles are meant to meet the felt needs of people this series would want us to focus not just on the felt needs yes we will celebrate the meeting of felt needs for us and yes we are expectant and we are in anticipation my anticipation that you are excitement that you are excited no excited and excited Cargo in the Lord no but really in this series we are wanting to see beyond the felt needs that there are real needs that these Miracles are actually meeting now in the past two weeks if you notice the felt needs were the people who were involved just understood their felt needs from the Mother-in-law of Simon not because of his of her high fever so that was the felt need that's all they wanted that's all everyone in that account just wanted the mother-in-law to to be healed but there are more to that Miracle than just what the healing of the Mother-in-law we saw how again the healing came about only because there was a they around they okay and then we were no uh we talked about how when the Mother-in-law was healed what did she first do she served even it's your receive your Miracle the the real need is for us not just to receive it but to be a blessing to others and so we see that the miracle is more than just the felt need last week how many of you were here for the great catch economic issue it's just an issue of what fish and earnings but we realize that the greatest miracle was not the great catch but it was that Peter later on realized do not fear because Peter at that time feared following Jesus fully um full time full time yes foreign when we talk about being full-time we're talking about being full-time followers of Jesus and Christians my part-time Christian batito foreign we are called to be full-time we're called to be full-time followers of Jesus not just in church that we do not just give a certain we project a certain image in church and we're different when we're out there and what Jesus said to me there is do not be afraid don't afraid don't afraid don't be afraid to leave everything Simon probably to that point had the greatest catch of his life yet because of who Jesus is he was willing to walk away from the greatest catch of his life some biggest questioned on is that's the real the miracle of choosing Christ over what the world can offer know how no matter how great it is some question who catches us is it the world is it the great catch that you have or is it following Jesus that was the Great miracle that happened so again you felt need when we stopped at the felt need we miss out on the greater need today though it's a bit different we have a character in the account who understood his real need at the get-go alamya is no no no no Jesus he was not the language is different and so today we're going to take a look at the person who was very much aware of his real need but what caused him to understand his real need in the other accounts people were oblivious of their real need they just were concerned about their felt need but something happened to this person that forced him to see his real need important thing then what caused this person to actually realize when he works in our lives and allows certain things in our lives there are times now we are our eyes are open to the reality of things something really almost traumatic happens to you that there was no recourse for you but your eyes but for your eyes to be open to the reality of what you really need yeah and so now we go to that account are you readiness although and although sometimes she would look at this and say Indiana before you say that let's look at the account while he was in one of the Cities he was in okay City he was not around the city he was not running about in the city he was in the city in one of the Cities there came a man full of leprosy okay full oh no um now of course Luke is a doctor in all other accounts it was just leprosy just like in all other accounts it's only fever not just leprosy it was he was full of leprosy doctors foreign ER now there's a range of condition that I will talk to you about important but it's it's a condition where your skin breaks out get don't stop to ask because you found to make it last break out you've got to find a way and say what you want to say break out break out leprosy or um foreign foreign later on I'll talk to you about the condition of leprosy from its most it's so hard to say benign but yeah not so problematic to the most problematic ones it is contagious okay so people are asked to stay away they were actually quarantined quarantine no the least amount of quarantine is 14 days actually 15 days seven days to examine on the seventh day and eight days of purification protocol who is okay now today leprosy is called Hansen's Disease okay uh HD high definition now let me tell you the condition before I say if this will make sense if I tell you the condition now if you have leprosy at that time you were not able and you are not supposed to go inside the city Jesus and you must let everyone know that you have leprosy you must wear torn clothes yeah second hair hanging loose or actually you cannot groom yourself Union [Music] it's hanging loose your hand must be over your upper lip bucket foreign because when they're walking in the street they must say unclean unclean unclean unclean N1 um and clean unclean demonstrations and when he saw Jesus he fell on his face and begged him many scholars believe that this person out of desperation because whenever they see a leprous person in those days they will pick up a stone to throw at them bucket now the stoning is not a penalty nicotyled for other things they Stone you to death you dishonor your parents and stone you to death Stone to death they're not stoned to that but they'll just have a stone to keep you away foreign and it was believed he fell from a distance he did not want to go close yeah but he ran he had to run because if he did not run Jesus he had to run to get to where Jesus is and he had what because he knew who Jesus is he fell on his face and begged him and he said Lord if you if you will you can do very important words to very important words if you will you can what is the leper saying I definitely know you can I'm just not sure if you will see you again Lord [Music] um also just who can problema will he knows and can because Jesus can in his name he could do anything there's nothing too hard for him so he can the question is will he sabinya make me clean now what's so important would make me clean foreign [Music] if you care if you will if you will please you can heal me yeah make me clean bakit Hindi heal me because healing is the felt need what is the most important need when you are a leper you are isolated and outcast plus you are not able to enter a place of worship so isolated shafram God and from the church the temple the people of God foreign because if he had said that what he was only thinking is what foreign make me clean because he knew much much more important and the key for him to get back into Fellowship is healing now let me talk about leprosy but yeah lepers now some as far as it's contagious and it's itchy maybe it's irritating disease is a neural disease it's a nerve disease an accidental nerve disease it's an anesthetic it has an anesthetic effect on yeah and so all of these people that is colony yeah better once in a while young situation and this is what happens to leopards and I want you to listen to this because this is important what happens to that person is if you lose if it is an anesthetic effect what happens to you when you lose a Feeling okay let me consult a doctor I say I know I know you're saying I'm a doctor to but not that kind foreign and his specialty is he studied this disease in the modern times and this is what he said the hard work of a modern physician by the name of Dr Paul brand who has been associated with the leprosy Hospital in Carville Louisiana so by then you say Google has brought to light the fact that this deceased primarily attacks the nerves it's an anesthetic disease effect yeah Dr Brandt gives some indication that I think will make clear what happens oh in The Villages of Africa and Asia a person with Leprosy has been known to reach directly into a charcoal of fire to retrieve a drop potato man he doesn't know that if he reaches for a potato in a charcoal he will be sunu guys workers down that means and they will take a shovel and they will work all day Pastor Rich Kids even with Nails in the shovel they would shovel all day until kite lacerated they would know they will work all day Superman foreign they are not warned of danger that will be detrimental to them once in a while people like that gets like this man oh he was in desperation he was awake and he was he was knocked into his senses and he right and he ran to Jesus now why did I say all of those important is because more often than not leprosy has the same effect as Sin and in church history and even in biblical times that that idea of how sin done over time this sentence desensitizes you and time will come it's already destroying you there was one person long time ago who told me this pastor means Church Pastor one thing that I have difficulty with especially with you it seems like when you preach ER but by the way uh I wish I could sorry sorry foreign and this is what I do is I find comfort with my friends I'm sorry you feel that way but you should be thankful that you could still feel the pain the truth because you know you're still in danger because if you go into the colony of lepers and start to talk to them until the feeling is gone you will continue in your sin until you are destroyed you know what leprosy does to you doctor leprosy eats your skin no Hindi they are already scratching to their bones foreign things that happen here is that this is my hope for all of you from last Sunday foreign two coffees this morning so that's really not good for me before I preach anyway so it really hurts solution the solution is not to run away and go to fellow lepers the solution is to run like your life depended on it and get to the feet of Jesus and beg him to heal you that was what that man realized this is not just an ordinary healing account there is something about leprosy that will kill us if we don't come to Jesus to get all of those sensitivity back our senses we need our senses back foreign [Music] [Music] whether that's unforgiveness and we think we're okay and then we find people who will justify what we're feeling but deep inside it's eating us up that's leprosy one of the biggest lesson in this text is for us to come to our senses and because that's the only one who can heal Allah means a church can I just okay okay oh Leo that's what happened to this guy we are the first actually many people are driven away from the church because of us I don't totally blame us as a broken Tayo but now that we know this I hope we would be a people who would do this is Lord is foreign fell on his face and begged Lord if you will you can make me what clean take away what the incense the the lack of sensitivity to sin so I could go back to fellowship with people so I could have fellowship with you that was the real need and he knew it because the trauma was deep in his life he was an outcast and that's why he ran risking being stoned being hit by a stone being shouted at only to go so if today you're in a leper colony if today you are in a leper colony maybe it's time for you to run to him and find your healing and so Jesus answers and Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him stretched out his hand and touched him why why did he stretch out his hand to touch him why why do you think and he stretched out his hand and he and what why did he stretch out his hand to what to what to heal um Jesus could heal with the word he didn't need to touch him Jesus can heal from a distance he didn't need to go to where you're at why did he the word stretch means he was far away he could have said oh too far but he is but he stretched out and he touched why because that person was not just physically ailing his heart was broken because no one has touched him for the longest time and the first that she got was from Jesus Jesus didn't need to touch him what you think Jesus can't heal you from a distance Lord no it was more than just the healing it was to tell him you are accepted and I will touch you because whenever you touch what is unclean you become unclean but when Jesus touches what it has until it becomes clean because he is the Fulfillment of the law the only way you could be clean and later on I'll tell you how to fulfill the requirements of the law Jesus said I did not just I did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill the law he is the Fulfillment his very presence was the Fulfillment of the law and when he touched a disciples Fellowship Church we need the cleansing of the written word spoken by The Living Word um the word does not become dirty it is what whatever the word touches let's say folks Union healing physically healthy but they're dying inside I couldn't believe foreign do you think physical healing is just what we need a long and they're physically healthy they're totally rich you think that's the solution that's why Jesus said feeling rejected foreign there was someone willing [Music] this is happening in this moment foreign are you ready for this I will deeply now I could just preach and say you know God is called Jesus is compassionate because in Market says he comes his compassion and he is God is a compassion got slow to anger abounding in love Exodus the same guy but before I preach this to you by just this oh how he's healed let's celebrate I think there's a question in all of our minds because there were times we prayed and he did not so was God just willing here and he is willing not on your behalf have you ever asked that Bible don't just ignore the obvious because this is life Jesus so he healed the yes but have you ever prayed have you ever heard recently I just prayed one of my most longest prayer for someone dear to me what happens now the leper was healed let's celebrate he is good and he is good but what if in your situation that he doesn't answer your prayer he does he just says no does he not become compassionate anymore is he not good anymore that question is real and if I just preach this verse without addressing something very real which is there are times and it has happened to us it happened to me this week this is real to me foreign in the whole Council of scripture we know that God is a god who's compassionate abounding in love he always is compassionate but there are three things you have to understand about healing and God doing things because it's about again I met I it's a question of his will we have our will sometimes it's a bit Lord I will but he must also if he is Lord must be serve to the right to say I won't many times in scripture healing did not happen Jesus came to a town and the town did not have faith so that's why he cannot heal so excuse me Jesus his power is not dependent on our faith that text if you read it from now on means this the reason people did not get healed because they did not have faith the reason is this if you don't trust someone you won't go to them and the reason they were not healed is not because Jesus did not have the power it's just because they never went to him don't you ever associate God's power to your faith it has nothing to do with that powerful how arrogant it is for us to claim that our faith made it happen our faith Tim but our faith does not afford him power latinum difference you get you have to know who God is when God does not heal sometimes not immediately immediately it's because number two it could be a teaching opportunity why because healing now versus healing later and you skipping the Journey of what you will learn and what will happen to the people around you he because his thoughts are higher than our thoughts it could be an opportunity third The Great I Am can say I will and he can say I won't number three and the most important and ultimately is because he's sovereign and he may never explain to each one of us because I never got my explanation I still don't know why my prayers were not answered just like job who went through so many things but God never told him why one of the reasons this is because he's Sovereign and he reserves the right not to tell us what he's doing all we need to understand is this he's a loving God and we we trust his nature not just his deeds We Trust his nature not just his deeds yeah Deeds are deceiving nature is not that's why God never says look at my Deeds he says trust who I am and the reason I wanted this to say this is because we are believing God for miracles this year and some of it will happen immediately some of it Jesus will say I will some of it he says not my will um not my will not yet or he deserves aside he reserves the right to say you will never know because he is God and we are not okay this because that's what the whole Council of I cannot preach any other thing and I want you to know lest I be sound like a Prosperity preacher you know if you just do this God will you know yes you know it's because she did not have enough faith and that's all baloney the word of God says so much more about that please go back to his word and Trust his nature and that he is a sovereign God that's up to you and you have to learn to live with the consequence of rebelling against him and that's on you but what I'm just saying is I'm trying to show you how great our God is and that he is worthy of our worship Our lives our trust and at times he says I won't um Miracles let him be known because I'd rather do this than not equip you and then you get disappointed and you don't understand and then you walk away at least when you walk away now you it's clear why you're walking away because you're rebelling against him and you don't want him to Sovereign [Music] if I preach the wrong Doctrine you will become a leper you will not feel that you're already wrong I will be introducing a contagion inside of you there this is the only cure the leprosy the word of God three verses such a powerful display of who God is in his character and you know according to our will because we are not sovereign we are not ultimate God is Ultimate and he will foreign I will be clean immediately the leprosy left him now as we come to an end this is very important and I want you to listen in this is one of the most important part and he charged him to tell no one bucket is he has to go but first Go and show you there must be some go yourself to show yourself to the priest and make an offering for your cleansing as Moses commanded for a proof to them people did not know at that time there was to be a witness particularly the priest who must declare you clean shall command them to take for him who is to be clear and the priest shall command him who is to be cleansed two live clean Birds Yvonne and Cedar Wood and Scarlet yarn and hyssop my word my yarn my history the priest shall command them to kill one of the bird in an earthenware vessel over fresh water okay he shall take the library with the cedar wood and the Scarlet yarn and the hyssop and then dip them and the live bird in the blood of the bird that was killed oh water blood okay actual ceremony the other bird is killed the yarn the wood is placed with a bird his shop is placed there's water there's blood the live bird is dipped into the water and then sprinkled seven times on him is to be cleansed then he shall pronounce him clean and said let the live bird the live bird go what is it one died one live the one who was alive was dipped in the blood with water with wood with hyssop 2 000 years ago on the cross there was a man who hung on the cross with what with wood with yarn so that he would be placed on the wood with hyssop with vinegar and when he was stabbed on the side water came out and blood and when we are under the blood when the bird is dipped that is the reason we can go the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed in the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed it never made sense to the people what the ritual looked like back then they just followed it it only made sense on the cross and that's why when Jesus was walking with people on the road to Emmaus he said from the prophets to the Psalms he spoke of all the scripture concerning him this was a picture that for all of us who are lepers there's a place of purification as a place so that we could go and live our lives so we could go and make disciples I fixed myself before I fix yourself no you go and make disciples not because of your qualifications it's because of what he has done on the cross and that's why the live word was able to go because a bird had to die someone had to die for the penalty of the uncleanness so that the other may let go be let go that is the reason we are living today someone had to die so that we could be let go and that the leprosy called sin in our life that desensitizes us and destroys us from the inside has been dealt with that is the real miracle of the leper it was a picture of the Salvation of humanity that all of us need to beg and fall on our face and humble ourselves and by his Mercy he may say I won't in many things in your life but when it comes to your salvation he will say I will the only comfort I have when I prayed and the answer was I won't is that I knew the person I was praying for long time ago went to the Lord beg for his forgiveness and the Lord Jesus said to that person I will be clean and now that person is with the Lord and that's the same I want for every one of us that we would go to the Lord and be healed and be cleansed that no leprosy is left in us why don't we all stand it was just like the music came to peace come up we're going to pray we're going to respond in worship and okay when we sing this song the word the word says when you touch me and you call me your own those are powerful words and so during this time of worship this is what I'm asking and appealing for you this may be a moment of falling on your face and begging the Lord and this is between you and God no okay but we cannot hear this word and not respond there's anything in your life that you've been keeping to yourself foreign and be grateful that you still feel it be grateful that you're sensing it it may be the Lord telling you it's time to come home father today may your mercy fall upon this room and your grace be on over upon us thank you for your word thank you for your compassion for us today Lord have your grant Grace to your people today Lord thank you that you are a god who hears us who hears us cry out to you before I send you out in a blessing I know you had a moment with the Lord and many of you I think I have a personal moment with God and that's important the Christian Life is a personal it's a personal decision commitment but it's walked out communally meaning when the leper was healed he went back into Fellowship why am I saying that because many of you I think made a commitment in your heart I can see it but it's so hard to do that alone you'll find someone in the spiritual family you trust and you'll talk to them and that's why Jesus said go to the priests do what it says make an offering because that meant he's back in Fellowship that meant he's back in with the people of God the Lord bless you and keep you the Lord make his face shine upon you the Lord lift up his countenance to you Grant you peace God bless you you are now sent out go [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
