"ERROR BOX" Opening TOPPS POKEMON TRADING CARDS from the 90's! (Mewtwo Strikes Back)

what is a breaking family sentence of positive vibes in your direction and do I have a nostalgia trip for you today look what I have Pokemon fans this right here is an unopened box of vintage Pokemon trading cards all the way from the year 1999 and when I say pokemon cards I don't mean Pokemon TCG I'm talking about actual trading cards from the very first Pokemon movie here is the catch though this is not just a regular box of Pokemon Trading Cards no this box is actually an air box now the rumor has it that when these trading cards were released tops the maker of these trading cards didn't quite have all the information about what was going on in Pokemon the first movie now a lot of longtime Pokemon fans might remember the pika blue incident well this is where it all started right here in the very first printing of these Pokemon the first movie trading cards there is a card that references a Pokemon named pika blue so who was this Pokemon that they named pika blue well it was none other than morale apparently tops just did not have all the information regarding Pokemon in the first movie and they needed to release their trading card products so they went with pika blue it looks like Pikachu it's blue pika blue now that rumor is nothing that I have made up it is just a rumor that has floated around the Pokemon community for years and years as that top just simply did not have all the information regarding Pokemon the first movie oh right breaking family enough of me rambling on let's get to opening up this vintage box of Pokemon net trading cards now you can see it is still sealed and then all along the wrapping it does have the Tops logo so you know it's official so apparently if it has the blue tops logo it is a first printing and will contain or hopefully contain one of those air cards but if it has a black logo it is one of the later printings and should not contain an air card now there's also another card that has an error on it in the set which is a donphan and the name is simply just misspelled so that's not a huge air like the pika blue so when this originally came out it only 1999 and that happens to be when the set came out as well so here is a side view of the box these are going to be scenes from Pokemon the first movie there is another side view of the other side and then we should be able to see the date right here at the very top you can see all the dates the Nintendo logo right there and that old-school barcode well I guess it's not old school because we still have barcodes around but it's old-school now of course tops is still around making trading cards and sports cards so let's go ahead foo I don't want to open this up but we got to we got to it is vintage and we need to figure out if we are going to pull an air card we're looking for one of those air cards if not both of them open it up ever so gently because I am going to save this box and probably put it on display somewhere oh it's open now there's no going back we have to do it breaking family oh no oh no we've opened up the vintage box so it does say contains 10 packs 8 cards including one foil card per pack plus one extra pack 88 cards per box and that's say one bonus extra pack right there here we go I'm betting there's gonna be styrofoam in here old-school styrofoam oh yes look at that old tops logo I think that's an old top slogan I don't think they're using maybe they are using that logo now I don't know okay so you have that right on top and then here is our packs look at that right there and they're still in really really good condition Wow look at those that even says a dollar ninety-nine good luck finding any packs sporting cards or anything for a dollar ninety-nine anymore so you can see right here it does say collect all 72 tops pokemon cards 72 parallel foil cards 12 die cut in most evolution cards I don't know if I know what in boast means and then 18 sticker cards I'm not that smart we're gonna try to pull as much of the set as we can but the one card we do want to pull is that peak of blue card and I believe it is in the Pikachu's vacation set it's like a little mini subset within the set I'll write Pokemon fans I believe I am ready to open up some vintage Pokemon at trading cards so let's go ahead and start off with this pack right here we're gonna open up every single one of those and we probably open up this first one or the first couple ones pretty gently so I can well probably not that one so I can save the wrapper it's essential that I was trying to do but this one's all destroyed now so I'm just gonna go ahead and set it right over there let's take a look at everything that's inside now we're trying to pull that air peak of blue card it should be inside of this box because why I've been reading is that the boxes with the blue tops logo is going to be the first printing so and the first printing is what contains that error card all right so we do have play time this is from Pikachu's vacation these are going to be scenes from the movie Oh looks like they're a little stuck together there we have a trying out a new toy and then oh wow is that stuck together - oh wow okay chores are we got double chairs aren't action right there that's a pretty ferocious Charizard fight and then we have our a Bulbasaur stay here and there is a site up sticker in this set so we need that because Psyduck is say it with me the best pokemon in the entire world so we do have this awesome Bulbasaur sticker and then we have a trapped Charizard so if you love Charizard this is definitely a pack for you leaving the nest come on we need help and then we have the tipis a bad omen you can see on the back of it they do have little brief descriptions of what is going on you look at the back of that Pikachu's vacation now the back of this is where we are going to see that pika blue name let's see you can we find it oh oh oh wait a minute wait a minute they do reference they do reference pika blue right back here there it is right there pika blue and you can also see that snuggles name is burrow now the thing is is that that could actually just be a rough translation of the Japanese name of snow bull which I haven't written right over here is bulu so the Japanese name of snobol is bulu so that could be a rough translation so that knot might not necessarily be an error from what I have been reading and through all of my research before I recorded this video so you can see we do have the error box because pika blue is referenced right back there but this is not the card that I was referring to even though it does reference pink blue right back there so I'm going to set that one off to the side okay now look first booster pack there we go we already have a peak of blue reference like I said I would love to sit down from with someone from tops around this error of when the PAH this project was going on and just kind of talked to about like what it was like putting this together and not having a whole lot of information all right here we go everyone pull pull up where there sign up right there they are a little stuck together and whatever pink and blue is referenced in the back of this one as well rewrite now they're at the very bottom peak of blue once again I want to set that one off to the side as well maybe I can give away one of these pika blue cards on my social media at real breaking Nate on Twitter and Instagram well Twitter is actually breaking underscore Nate but if you type in real breaking Nate you'll find it so don't follow me on there and I'll give away one of these pika blue cards I bet pika blue is referenced on the back of this one as well boom right there pika blue once again oh man oh man okay that's that very interesting okay we do have squirtle and Hiro there we go we have some nice Pikachu stickers and then here is a holo foil card now there should be a silver version and a goal or like a hyper I want to say hyper air like a rainbow version of all the cards in the set so there is a lot of cards to collect less si Thurs and another mu two you can see right there on the back let's go with our next booster pack last when I was able to open up pretty easily now I would like to get another box of these and just not open them up but I think maybe after today's video a lot of you might go to ebay to try to find some so that my raise the prices of these boxes a little bit rebellion they are there are plenty oh I don't want to say plenty but there are quite a few on eBay if you are looking to grab yourself one so I suggest you grab yourself one sooner than later we have the stairwell spooky spooky and Charmander and then we have a squirtle Wartortle and Blastoise ticker we have Ivysaur we have teamwork and then the battle of the champions with Misty and psyduck right there on the card let's see if this references pika blue on the back as well yes pika blue and guru back there I tried to do a lot of research on this before I recorded the video because I wanted to try to make sure I had the most accurate information so if I get anything wrong during this video I do apologize I tried to make sure like I said I got the most accurate information Wow can this not open there we go whoo let's see what we got here I'll tell you when we come across the card that I was referring to I actually didn't realize it was more than one card I thought it was actually just one card but there is a specific card I was referring to when I was talking about pika blue earlier in the video very stuck together I mean they've been in here for over a decade so Mewtwo strikes back the Battle of champions so there is the reverse I really got poked my TCG on my mind there is the the foil pattern of the regular version don't cry togepi let's see if pika blue is referenced on the back of this one I do not see pika blue referenced on the back of that one at all no okay mechanical Mewtwo success any peekaboo references on the back of that one nope no pick a blue references okay we do have one two three four five six and seven packs left to open up very exciting very exciting because I have not opened these up in a long time this is the card right here that I was referring to when I was talking about pica blue right there I know it should reference the pica blue on the back yep there it is pick a blue and Moreau but this is the card I was referring to when I was talking about pica blue earlier in the video so that was the one that I was essentially looking for and we got it now let's see if we can get that donphan card that is misspelled in here and then we'll kind of have all the errors and this should be a checklist yes that is a checklist of all the cards so if you want to pause the video and read that checklist you are more than welcome to do so we have another Ivysaur playtime like it never happened we have another Mewtwo and Togepi in trouble of course togepi is usually in trouble doing things that should not do if you're enjoying this vintage opening it's something a little bit different we see a lot of vintage TCG stuff being opened up here on YouTube but we don't see a lot of this other stuff that brings back a lot of memories for longtime Pokemon fans and I plan on opening up a lot of this stuff so I'm not gonna tell you all the other stuff I'm going to be opening up but if you do love vintage stuff make sure you come back for future videos and then of course we do have newer Pokemon stuff being opened up here on the channel as well okay the trainers failure we got Bulbasaur another nope no other card okay Charmeleon we have a psychic showdown Pikachu's vacation with a very very happy signup and the story of MU - which by the way this movie is getting re-released this fall I believe and it will be released I think in theaters this fall so make sure you stay on the lookout for that so if you enjoyed enjoy the movie you'll get to see it again okay and okay so we do have some Bulbasaur Ivysaur and venusaur stickers I believe it's this one that's getting re-released I'm pretty sure all right more Team Rocket more Team Rocket peacemaker Pikachu alright so we got a double of that one so I'll probably give that one away there since we did get a double so make sure you go over to my Twitter or my Instagram and see where the giveaway is happening I don't know which one is going to take place on but it's gonna take place on one of them we do have all right a call to arms teamwork the Battle of Champions Wartortle ala the water race is on the story of Mewtwo and the ultimate match so we have not got that misspelled donphan just yet not quite yet I'm hoping that we'll pull it in one of these last few booster packs or all right I'm gonna set this trash right over yeah go trash on the ground and then pick it up later after the video is done let's stare well the rebirth of ash such a sad scene and if you said you did not cry during that scene you are a liar my friend because that was an extremely extremely sad scene oh okay so we did get one of those like die-cut cards right here 9 of 12 nice nice oh it feels good on the finger too okay what's that that up there we got Charmander char million and Charizard oh that wasn't very very cool-looking and then we have the invitation new friends and farewells and clones now I remember when this came out in theaters seeing Pikachu's vacation was absolutely insane because it was really the first time we were seeing new Pokemon and this was before gold and silver were released here in the United States so I remember freaking out over the thought of new Pokemon like how could there be more than 151 pokemon it's happening there's more and I love that we get new Pokemon every two or three years it is so cool the water race is on the story of Mewtwo we're gonna drag an air actually really like that one Blastoise teamwork the Battle of champions playtime hopefully it's none of these cards are sticking together because they are a little bit thicker and they've been sitting in there for like I said over a decade so you got to give them a little bit of a
