sponsored by the big 98 Nashville's number one for a new country and the home of a body bone show welcome to the rock review I'm thrilled to have on an incredible artist Dove Award winning grammy-nominated gold and platinum records it is Ernie Haase and he's got a brand new album outs with signature sound jazzy little Christmas thanks for coming on the show Eric thanks for being here and thanks for talking to me about the new record you know I listen to this record it just wowed me with your guys harmonies but also you've got two originals on here actually got three there's 14 songs three originals and and then of course the sacred songs and holiday classics and and so I I'm really really proud of this it has that what when I listen to Christmas records I still listen records I listen to LP vinyl and so and then always gravitate towards the 40s and the 50s the bean Crosby the Dean Martin etudes the four freshmen especially when you're trimming the tree and setting up the house and everything like that and I thought your album is just like perfect for that that was intentional but but you know it's funny I was telling before we came in here too I do the interview Ernie - I knew you from back with your time with the Cathedral easy for me to say the cathedrals and it's like I had a guy they said I enjoyed you with the catheters holy show so at least I wasn't that bad but I mean you know you worked with him for nine years yeah the last nine years of their ministry and and I was you know I was fortunate to get on their coattails I mean they they sang for 50 years well they were fortunate to have you - well I brought everything I had every night definitely tell you that but man those last five years were incredible and so and then you know for it to be it was family for me right George was my father and all and so you know your voices your voices Mel that's did you know George is my father yes I did okay not many people knew he didn't want people knowing really about a man Ben you were such a good fit with them and I think you know with your youth - you sort of brought a new invigoration to the music at that time which you know sometimes bands can use yeah I mean I thank you I mean when they wrote their book about their history they put in their chapter about me here come a young guy that gave us energy and ideas right and I'm like I highlighted that I'm like I was probably the best compliment you can get well you know and like I said that's where I first came to know you and your voice and your music but then you went solo but then now with the new set up with their anyhow and signature sound you guys are doing some cool stuff in the harmonies on here thank you are just amazing yeah started a sick sound right 2003 the same year LeBron James went to the NBA so we have that in common yeah with many things many things and then so I've actually had sound longer than I was with the cathedrals and so so nine and a half ten years with the cathedrals that was my desire was can I have my own group and can I keep it as long as I was with the cathedral so now we're going into 16th 17th year and and but this right here is the culmination of a lot of dreaming and a lot of hard work my 32 years of touring and singing I've kind of put everything that I've learned so you started when you were into this yeah this some I'm really proud of this right here and I let me expand on what you said putting the tree up having background music we record it with that in mind we wanted it to be intimate so whether we were in a a determined or a little Club seats a hundred we want to be able to present the music in the intimate fashion and so that's how we we did it with the fiddle three-piece jazz band and that's how we're going out touring it this whole Chris and I love the doo-wop song on here also hey let's see I'm I just give it a little jazzy Chris my first quartet I sang in was a barbershop quartet my second quartet I sing in was a doo-wop fifties reviewing you've done it all yeah and then the gospel was the third and traveling the world we have we've been we've been around the world we're like Johnny Cash we've been everywhere man now I know this two are for Christmas is gonna go through December 22nd yeah but now I've heard rumors irony and if you could sort of fill us in that there might be another tour coming up in 2020 and a new album yeah so this this this record is on the Gaither music label right and I'm not a battle able to be on no and another Gloria Gaither have been actually my this is kind of a history thing my first concert with the cathedrals yeah was that the T pack here in Nashville Tennessee Performing Arts Center it was with Bill and Gloria Gaither yeah it was before the homecoming phenomenon took over and so they've always been in my life and they've and so we we're at their house I was this time last year bill and I went to our annual Indiana Pacers game and we just started getting on the panel singing classic Gaither songs rights most that you would know some that you probably forgot about you know and so it's a huge cattleman so we just started talking and we started working on a record then we're signature sound interprets the classics of bill and Gloria movie and and so we started doing that and so when we were talking to Paul sighs love with the record company there about that record he says well what do you what have you been working on I said well this isn't a can let me let me show you what I got he says well I think we could I think we could bring some attention to that too so that's how it all started so when we finish up a Christmas tour we'll take a break first part of 2020 and then March we hit the road with a brand new record Ernie Haase sintra sound actually actually on the written on the record album cover the photo shoot I wore this out feel like that jacket and bill and Gloria Gaither are on the cover oh my goodness so it's and they're on the record - they made something special well you know and I think it's so important to you know getting the music out to people and sharing that I think it helps get the message out it's always been about the message and it's always been about connecting with people so whether it's fun or serious and you have a lot of fun because I watched some of your other interviews before I came here to talk with you I saw the one where you guys are standing on the couch yep so you have some fun with your interviews we do I know it's what's that Jimmy Durante song young at heart I'm sorry just like you did for the cathedrals I I tried to bring and you know what they were just as fun in their own age right you know and so I you know what you know there's a lot of hurt in the world and we don't want to gloss over that we have songs that deal with that but you know we're we're called to be ambassadors of joy right and so that's what we bring with jazz a little Christmas well I think it's incredible now I want to make sure that our viewers also know Ernie the website social media everything now is to be able to follow you guys see you live in concert also maybe to get a signed copy I understand there might even be some vinyl there there are limited depression of where should our viewers go so you can just go to my website it's it's the easiest way to find everything you want to know about signature sound just go to Ernie Haase comm and my name is little weird spelling so I'll spell it for you sh a a s e and there you'll find our tour for our Christmas tour right we just redid our website it's fantastic it's very soft fan friendly so you can just do it on your phone not have to be at a computer so you got some cool beanies and everything -
