Epic revenge on my MIL (mother-in-law)

meet my evil mother-in-law dear husband and i met 13 years ago he moved in with me less than several months later we've been inseparable since while getting to know each other dear husband tells me that he hates his mother being the naive early 20-something i was i was appalled who hates their mother aren't we as women warned that the way a man treats his mother is how he will treat his wife had i made a mistake i met f mother-in-law about six months in and she didn't seem so bad as it turns out i hate her too dear husband and i married a little over three years after we met it took three years of living together and then some to get the full picture of who she truly is this happened through short stories from dear husband conversations with mother-in-law and my ability to link everything together sit back and enjoy drama llamas this story takes place over my husband's first 18 years of life mother-in-law had dear husband when she was a teenager she married father-in-law during the pregnancy mother-in-law father-in-law and both sides of the family were dirt poor and lived in a poor tiny town when dear husband was a small child mother-in-law's father gf had an accident at work mother-in-law's family received a payout in the millions this is where things go horribly wrong mother-in-law divorces father-in-law mother-in-law sends dear husband to leave with her mother grandmother dear husband has no memory of ever leaving with both parents father-in-law spends time with dear husband but father-in-law is unable to care for dear husband full-time so grandmother raises him in the meantime mother-in-law spends the next several years enjoying her youth she moves several states away leaves at the beach dates and calls dear husband once a week with big promises about him coming to leave with her in which she never delivers dear husband spends years looking out the window awaiting her arrival but she never shows eventually mother-in-law falls pregnant again the money has just about run out and she has no one to turn to so what does she do she moves back to tiny town and father-in-law takes her back now father-in-law is a stand-up guy he was briefly married before getting involved with mother-in-law that marriage resulted in a child dear husband's half-sister after dear husband's birth father-in-law gets a vasectomy although father-in-law is a stand-up guy he's cheap as hell being poor will do that to a person to this day mother-in-law maintains that father-in-law reversed the vasectomy so they could have another child you could drive a car through the holes in that story sheep father-in-law gets a procedure to prevent having children then pays again to get it reversed to have a third child after not being able to take care of the first two on what planet back to mother-in-law she goes back to father-in-law they get married again sister-in-law is born father-in-law is doing well at his job mother-in-law is almost broke they build a home in tiny town father-in-law raises sister-in-law as his own and no one is none the wiser gf has since passed away from injuries from the work accident grandmother is getting older and is sickly but still raising dear husband sister-in-law has a great life with mother-in-law and father-in-law she goes to private school and is a cheerleader i should mention the reason she goes to private school in tiny town is that the public schools there are horrendous to give you an idea the juvenile detention rate exceeds the graduation rate guess where dear husband goes you guessed it he goes to public school he begs every day to go to private school but they just can't afford it fast forward a bit an incident occurs i'm not clear on exactly what happened but mother-in-law is either in jail or in rehab i should mention that mother-in-law is a klepto that is the cause of her absence so sister-in-law goes to leave with grandmother and dear husband for a little while then grandmother gets sick and goes to the hospital sister-in-law stays with family in tiny town dear husband gets shipped off to family six hours away mother-in-law gets out of wherever she is leaves father-in-law again gets sister-in-law back and moves out of tiny town with her new boyfriend and sends for dear husband dear husband leaves with mother-in-law for a few weeks hates it calls grandmother who is now out of the hospital and she picks him up that school year husband left original school to go to new school six hours away to new school with mother-in-law and then back to original school for those of you unable to keep up that is four schools in one year dear husband is unable to keep up fails that year and dropped out of high school before the start of the next year meanwhile in newtown mother-in-law is regretting leaving father-in-law new boyfriend is a bit on the abusive side and she learns he has been using her oh how the tables turn they get into a big fight and he hits her causing damage to her face she mostly recovers leaving minimal permanent damage she flees with sister-in-law back to tiny town she and sister-in-law take residence with grandmother and dear husband who is now a high school dropout this is where the final blow takes place after living with grandmother for a while mother-in-law decides she wants to buy a beautiful spacious home down the street from grandmother all of the money from years past is long gone mother-in-law has never made any real money working here and there throughout her life but she must buy this house she gets a job in tiny town it appears that she is finally getting her life together she begins the process of buying her first ever home all by herself except she can't do anything by herself because well you've listened this far she first has to go to father-in-law to get him to sign a document to relinquish responsibility for the home because they are still married then she goes to dear husband to co-sign on the house because he has now been working for a few years since he left school she needed his stable work history on the loan and he is now 18 years old he agrees but only if she agrees to let him have the bonus room and the bedroom of his choice she agrees she buys the home and they leave happily ever after except they didn't you've come this far when dear husband was 17 he and his girlfriend had a child together d s d s was an infant when he co-signed on this house dear husband and girlfriend leave together at grandmother's house at first then they all moved into the new house together they were on and off throughout this time less than two years after buying the house mother-in-law loses her job she takes a second mortgage on the house so that she can use the funds to take sister-in-law to a new city and her start over she lets the house get foreclosed on ruining not only her credit but dear husbands as well dear husband moves back with grandmother and girlfriend and ds move back to her family but that isn't the worst part hang on to your seats remember the paperwork dear husband signed a co-sign on the loan well that had nothing to do with co-signing on the loan remember the big payout the family received and his grandfather's untimely death grandfather left six figures to dear husband it was in an account that dear husband could have when he turned 18. it was the last of the big payout and dear husband had no idea about it mother-in-law tricked him into signing the paperwork that released those funds to pay for the house the house she let get for closed on meet my mother-in-law the revenge part one we last left off with mother-in-law stealing a sizeable inheritance from dear husband shortly after he turned 18. this is the story of how it all comes back to bite her in the ass enjoy the ride at the beginning of last year my father-in-law was able to retire from his job of 35 years everyone was so excited for him because what an accomplishment well everyone was excited except mother-in-law you see they were still married from the last time mother-in-law ran off when dear husband was a teenager because they were still married she was still benefiting from his medical insurance and she used it often since she is frail old women in her mid-50s insert i roll so with father-in-law retiring she would now have to figure out how to pay for her own health two weeks prior retirement mother-in-law gets laid off from the job she worked at since shortly after she fled tiny town after the foreclosure to the new city no one believes she was laid off instead we think she decided that since father-in-law didn't have to work anymore neither did she at this very same time hsil half-sister-in-law left her husband and took her daughter to leave with father-in-law while she figured things out half-sister-in-law is the sister i like she helped father-in-law with retirement stuff and is really the one that talked him into retirement in the first place she has always had his best interest at heart her line of work put her into a position to be able to help father-in-law the most after leaving her husband she decided to go back to school for her mba and that's what she did while living in tiny town as a side note but this will be important later mother-in-law and half-sister-in-law hate each other mother-in-law has always been jealous of half-sister-in-law in turn all of father-in-law's side of the family hates mother-in-law she has stolen from all of them at one point or another and well you saw her introduction so back to the story things are going lovely for father-in-law and half-sister-in-law in tiny town father-in-law isn't lonely and is spending time with his daughter and granddaughter half-sister-in-law is able to help him with retirement stuff back in the big city mother-in-law can't find a job no one knows exactly how she is managing financially but we all know there is some kind of con going on to hear her tell it she is going to be homeless in matter days no one really cares except to laugh at that any day now has turned into six months so last summer after father-in-law and half-sister-in-law coming for a week-long visit to the big city to see us mother-in-law leaves in the city too father-in-law calls dear husband looking for half-sister-in-law he doesn't feel well but thinks he needs to go to the hospital he can't get in touch with half-sister-in-law and he doesn't text so he asks dear husband to text her they get in touch and half-sister-in-law takes father-in-law to the hospital he was in the hospital for a few days half-sister-in-law advises us to make the trip down to tiny town they think father-in-law is going to be okay but he has been asking for us on the night prior to our arrival father-in-law takes a turn for the worst and is airlifted out of tiny town to a neighboring city we are in full-fledged crisis mode now except for this family doesn't know how to deal with a freaking crisis dear husband and i are about an hour from the hospital when he gets a call from mother-in-law she tells him that father-in-law had called her the night before and tells her that he doesn't think he is going to make it he goes on to tell her that half-sister-in-law has been put in charge of everything and half-sister-in-law has been instructed to split everything four ways y'all are getting this right my dying father-in-law called mother-in-law on his deathbed to tell her that she is entitled to a fourth of his stuff what so we get to the hospital and arrive at about the same time mother-in-law and sister-in-law arrive father-in-law is in icu half-sister-in-law didn't want to tell us until we got there that the night before some awful stuff went down and father-in-law is now brain-dead she goes on to say that we need to go in to see him only two at a time and then we will break for lunch after lunch we need to decide what to do about the machines mother-in-law and sister-in-law go off together we take half-sister-in-law to lunch dear husband and i are stunned shocked we just had no idea that was the situation we would be walking into and i am going to break this up since this has turned into another long read no half-ass storytelling around here meet my mother-in-law the revenge part two so we return from lunch ready to talk about turning the machines off except mother-in-law and sister-in-law have decided they want to talk about father-in-law's 401k safety deposit box and his home mother-in-law calls dibs on his truck y'all still with me father-in-law is upstairs being kept alive by machines and his stuff is what we are talking about half-sister-in-law is caught off guard she somewhat starts answering their questions sister-in-law asks if we need to get a lawyer and i've had enough i informed them that father-in-law is still alive possibly suffering who knows and if this is what they were going to do i was taking half-sister-in-law upstairs to make the decision myself so she could sign off on it half-sister-in-law got herself together after that and told them she wasn't discussing anything else until the fate of my father-in-law was decided father-in-law leave two more days on the machines we said our goodbyes and drove back to our home in the big city dear husband was devastated by the loss of his father mother-in-law comforted him as any mother would no stop that didn't happen remember that phone call about mother-in-law being entitled to a quarter of fl stuff those phone calls went on for days mother-in-law had convinced dear husband that half-sister-in-law who father-in-law had left his 401k to and was now the executioner of the will that she half-sister-in-law was going to take father-in-law's stuff and run why does this story sound familiar she managed to get him all worked up and paranoid that he was about to be screwed again i had enough of all of them at this point i had to explain to my grown-ass husband that half-sister-in-law would not do that but mother-in-law would and did actually mother-in-law was manipulating him into turning against half-sister-in-law so they together could bully half sister-in-law into doing whatever mother-in-law wanted since i was beyond pissed i called mother-in-law and told her to knock at the f off i explained to her that our goal right now was to get to the viewing and then the funeral and i did not want to hear another word from her until after the funeral she gave some kind of woe is me excuse but she agreed the next contact she would have with dear husband was at the viewing the day of the funeral arrives it was hard but we got through it after the funeral i told half sister-in-law everything that had happened since the day we left for the hospital a week earlier half-sister-in-law wasn't surprised she and i worked together to see what we could do to cut mother-in-law out of everything since everything was left to half sister-in-law the 401k the vehicle the house and his bank account and that document superseded the will half-sister-in-law was free to do what she wanted in the end the three children split everything three ways all mother-in-law will receive his father-in-law's social security checks when she turned 60. and as a final wrap-up remember when we knew that mother-in-law was pulling a scam to survive the time that she was going to be homeless any day now well father-in-law was sending her a large check every month to take care of bills half-sister-in-law found the cancelled checks when half-sister-in-law gave mother-in-law the news she would be getting nothing the reason half-sister-in-law gave is that she would be receiving his ss checks and she had already received her part of the inheritance and then gave her the cancelled checks the inheritance dear husband received is nowhere near what was taken from him but he revels in knowing that he took from her any future security she might have had edit now that you have met mother-in-law i am accepting name suggestions heck at that rate i just call her a cant i hope after all this [ __ ] if you guys have or are going to have kids you keep them as far as freaking possible from that creature the father of her children wasn't even cold and she was worried about about material things f that i hope she lost all her children by pulling that i have been calling her canty cunterson to dear husband for years lol as far as children dear god no i told dear husband from the beginning that child free was the life for me he didn't want any more either so it worked the funny thing is that mother-in-law tried to talk me into children many times she would say things like you and insert dear husband's name would have gorgeous babies blah blah blah each time it came up i would tell her that i didn't want the responsibility it just never got through to her so the last time we had that conversation instead of telling her that i didn't want the responsibility and further explaining myself i looked her dead in the eye and said you do realize we would have to raise them right and then i raised one eyebrow i never had to have that conversation again i'm so sorry to hear about your father-in-law i hope you guys have some lovely memories of the week you spent together to treasure all the best thank you that week was the most magical week we have ever had with the in-laws we had everyone come in town for the holiday weekend and when i say everyone i mean the in-laws d.s who is now grown ds mother we get along great i love her like half-sister-in-law and her mother mother-in-law mostly did her own thing because again no one cares but the rest of us will have those memories forever on the first full day together we had a cookout and pool party i had one of those moments where i looked around so i could take everything in and then it hit me everyone important to diaz was there all of his grandparents all of his parents his sister his aunt and his cousin we don't count sister-in-law as family they have no relationship that had never happened before not even at his graduation i immediately went over to diaz and told him to look around i pointed out that everyone who loves him is here we had our own special moment right there together it makes me tear up thinking about it thank you for asking about our visit what a thief i am 57 or 58 years old and i can't imagine quitting a job at my age because one these are my prime earning years and two i'm unlikely to be hired at my age it just blows my mind that these j-no's are so uncaring about their future i am child free but i can't even imagine expecting my kids to support me when i might leave another 40 years exactly i was having a tough time at 52 getting a job they mostly want malleable teeny boppers that they don't have to give benefits to or much higher than minimum wage the thing about mother-in-law though is that she doesn't do the future everything is about right now and since she has always had someone to bail her out she has never had to plan for the future grandmother passed away a year before i met dear husband and now father-in-law is gone sister-in-law is the only one she has left but sister-in-law has small children to think of mother-in-law is literally on her last leg half-sister-in-law sounds like a darn fine woman and one of integrity since she divided the estate with her half-brother and sister when legally she didn't have two good for you helping dear husband get his head screwed on straight the poor guy sounds sort of gullible hope there's no way the mother-in-law can get to him and talk him out of this inheritance pretty much everyone will be gullible if their parent just passed away unexpectedly they tend to be not really in the right mood for clear thinking half-sister-in-law is the bomb it wasn't an accident that father-in-law put her in charge dear husband is actually a really smart guy i think the stress of losing his father so suddenly put him in a really bad place mentally add to that the trauma of everything his mother did to him and the fear of someone else he loved taking something from him he just wasn't thinking clearly the best thing about our marriage is that we have each other's back at the time i was frustrated with him but in hindsight i can't really blame him it was almost 40 years in the making but dear husband got the last laugh
