hey everybody mike chipmarini of chipperz island adventures today's video is going to be my seven month review of my integra odyssey 24b let's see how it goes [Music] [Music] so i've had my rig for seven months i bought it april first i've put about eight thousand miles on it within those seven months and what i did is i picked it up in ocala florida and then i drove around in florida for about a week and then my i made my way back to massachusetts over a week so i was going about two weeks on that trip and since then i've taken a bunch of small trips and then i took a major trip that i put about 3 100 miles on so i think i'd have a pretty intimate feeling for my rig at this point so i'm going to go over a couple things that i don't like they're not game changers they're not deal breakers but these are things that certainly can be improved upon the first one is the water filter placement now i went over this when i was winterizing my rig here's a little video of it the water filter placement is beneath this drawer behind that vent in the wardrobe it's very difficult to get to it's a real pain there's a lot of electronics in there and what i'm going to do is take it out and i'm going to put a bypass in there whether i use pex or something like that so first and foremost is water filter placement you're better off just putting a really good water filter on your hose line don't use one of those single stage inline filters use a good two stage at a minimum of a two stage water filter on your hose line the second thing i don't like about the odyssey 24b is the vent fan so in the odyssey 24b there is only one fan on event and that is this one now for scale i'm going to put my hand up this fan is what is supposed to clear your rv if you have if it's warm in here or something along those lines so obviously that's not enough fan to move the air like you really want to so what i'm going to do at some point i'm going to put in a max fan or or something to that effect i would love to put maybe up here it's just a vent it'll be it would be great to put a fan in there but i don't know if that's possible if i can run the line or not maybe i'll take a look at it someday so that's two is the vent fan you know integra i hope you're listening to these the water filter placement the size of that fan does it really cost that much money to either put the water filter in a decent place maybe under the sink or to go ahead and put a new uh better fannin in that uh vent it's not that hard it's not that much money okay the third thing i don't like is on i have two wardrobes in the 24b i have the big one hey everybody i have the big wardrobe then i have a smaller wardrobe right here so right now there's not a whole lot in it the problem is is those two drawers i have heard nothing about complaints about people's drawers flying open when they go around the corner and i am the same way i had to make my own little fix you can see the magnet right here and that works i shouldn't have to do that come up with a better design anything that is capable of flying open come up with a better design so it doesn't that is a well-known problem another complaint i have is the rear compartment which is your biggest compartment okay on the odyssey 24b under the slide in the rear is the biggest compartment this is also where your wet bay is that compartment it's a good size compartment i can get plenty of things in there what i can't get in that compartment is a gravity chair if it were only a little bit bigger you could get a gravity chair in that compartment but i can't and that's one of my little complaints my next complaint is the battery compartment for the house the house battery compartment is relatively small it's set up for group 24 size batteries which are basically 10 inches long but it's a smaller compartment to the point where if you want to upgrade to a battleborn lithium or something like that they will not fit in that compartment i'm starting to notice that 12 volt 200 amp lithium batteries made by a couple companies are getting smaller and i think they can fit in that compartment it might be a tight squeeze but i wish that would make it a little bit bigger it's under the step what i might do if i want to go lithium is i might transfer and go under the sink if i could find space under there uh you know i think i might be able to do it there is space in back of there a lot of wires i'll have to sculpt it out but we'll see what happens but that that's kind of uh you know you could probably barely get two regular lead acid batteries in there so with the way things are moving technically and battery wise it would be nice to have a compartment that can accommodate today's lithium batteries at a minimum two 100 amp or one 200 amp battery something to think about integra now my next item is the shade over the bunk now the shade over the bunk is a great feature matter of fact it's getting a little dark out so i'm going to open that up it works great as you can see this is my second one and i'm not alone in that i have an integra odyssey facebook page with i think it's uh 600 plus members right now somewhere in there at any rate a lot of people talk about the torn shade what i was told when i had it repaired and i had it repaired in shipshawana indiana the guy said what it is is these need to be tensioned properly if they're not tensioned properly they're going to tear and he worked for a while to make sure it was tensioned properly and i notice when it's retracting and extending it seems to work a lot better and a lot more evenly than the original shade that was there the other problem is is the way it's constructed it's tucked into the bottom handle that you can't see right now the shade itself is tucked into it with only one loop the shade comes down and loops over a little plastic thing and that's what tends to pop out it isn't that the shade tears it actually starts literally popping out from the bottom so they really need to come up with a better design on that and um you know i i have my thoughts but that's up to integra and jayco to figure that out but that shade i love it but i don't like the way it's designed it's too many faults on it and a lot of people have had torn shades or faulty shades let's put it that way okay another complaint i have is the roof this cab is awesome that cab is awesome because it's one fiberglass piece the only seams are under the cab so your likelihood of ever having this leak is just phenomenal the roof they say it's a one-piece fiberglass but my roof is already cracked in four different places along the edge what the roof has a curved area and along that radius along the radius just above the sides i've had four small cracks that's not good i live in a very big boating community so i know fiberglass half decently that's more like a gel coat i don't like that fiberglass at all i think it's more like a very thin gel coat if you're gonna make a fiberglass roof make a fiberglass roof make it you can walk it so you can walk on it no problem no worries about cracking or leaking make it correct i'm not a big fan of the roof up there i may have to take alternate measures in order to make it waterproof my last dislike and i've gone over this before i've talked about i've i've made a video in the past is the sway bars and the steering stabilizer that comes stock with this you know they make a big deal about the uh easy ride or whatever it is they put in as a package hey maybe some of it's good all i know is the steering stabilizer and the sway bars are useless if you buy a new rig make sure you have it a uh make sure you get an upgrade because what's stock is no good and i went to safety plus and i had new sway bars put on front and rear and a new steering stabilizer and my ride changed dramatically changed dramatically so that's something you definitely want to consider because the ones that come stock are inferior if i was integra in jayco and i was selling a rig like this and people are driving it like me who had never driven one of these rigs and i've driven big trucks whether it's a deuce and a half in the army or a fire engine for years or ladder trucks or whatever with the fire department when i got in this i was white knuckle all through florida until i got up to outside indiana and went to the safety plus factory so that's a big that's my number one my number one dislike with this rig and it's straight across the board with all the odysseys so don't think any one of them are different so that's my dislikes that's my dislike so and i'm doing this kind of in the flavor of matt's rv reviews it and i i just want to give a shout out to matt he's the one that i watch all the time and did a lot of research and he was my stepping stone so if i wanted to know about an odyssey 24b i watched his video first and then i searched for others but i always went back to his to study i just want to say thank you to matt i also purchased it through him and i did really well i was happy with what i paid so big shout out to matt's rv's reviews and will and jen and andrea you guys are all great so let me just say um let's go into the likes i want to make it positive so let's go into the likes for me my first like with an odyssey 24b is it's a perfect size i love this rig i really do it's got a good sized bed it has a beautiful bathroom it's a good size shower a fine kitchen the over-the-head bunk is excellent i've slept up there a few times and the dinette table if there was anything that i would want in this rig other than what i have it would be nice if i had some end tables or a couple little tables on the side or something i have a couple ideas a couple little fixes i'm going to come up with and we'll see how it goes [Music] um but yeah that's it i love the size of the rig it is awesome no doubt about it it is awesome like i said it's got a good sized kitchen i have more than enough storage i have so much storage i haven't filled it i mean looking in here it's basically empty i keep one of those pads well actually bolt the pads up there some water you know my pantry i use a lot but the bottom line is i have a lot of storage in here and to be honest i do a lot of my rving by myself my wife she's not into it but that's all right she will go with me at some point so with her coming with me i still have a full half of wardrobe that she can use so the size is great size is great it's perfect for me and the 26 foot length of this rig is easy to get around anywhere anywhere i go i've had no real problems so that's the first love it's not even like it's a love the second thing i like is the over-the-cab bunk i love this i'll probably get a pad to make it a little bit more comfortable this is the best if i look at all the videos i don't care if it's a class a class c class b this is the best looking and most useful bunk i have seen yet it has plenty of headroom nice little cubbies right for for putting your things in it has outlets usb and 120 and it has a tv setup if you wish to put a tv up here and then of course you have the shade so it's a great over the head over the cab bump i challenge anyone if you see one that's better set up than this let me know and this sucker holds 750 pounds so i think it's great it's an excellent bunk not a whole lot to improve upon it i've already gone over how much i love the wardrobe space look at this right full-blown closet i keep the dinette cushion in here for now i'd like to find a better place for that but look at that male female et cetera this closet wardrobe is an excellent size you got two drawers per person you got a full half of one person a full half or another good mirrors to make the space seem a little bit bigger so that that wardrobe is absolutely awesome and like i said you get more wardrobe over here and down below you have a couple drawers and i'm not sure what we use that for my first day gets here but basically the bedroom begins here the bedroom begins here and goes back and you have plenty of space for storage and don't forget you got a couple storage areas up top here right so no shortage of wardrobe another thing i like on the odyssey 24b is the dinette table now i i like the u-shape i like the fact it's comfortable and when i'm sitting here like so i can watch tv and one night one night i had me my friend and his son who was around 18 who were traveling my friend who has a bad back slept on this dinette converted to a butt uh bed and his son slept up taught and my friend who has a bad back was very comfortable his son who was up there sleeping when we watch tv the father and the son sat here and i swiveled one of the front uh cab seats around and i sat there and we're all totally comfortable very comfortable so i like this dinette table i know it's not for everybody especially if you're traveling with kids i don't need the couch you know i really don't need any of that but you know if someday i wanted to swap this stuff out for a couple of seats i could do that but i like this i like this in the 24b that's the reason why i bought the 24b i was actually looking at the 26d what what drew me to the 24b was the wardrobe the wardrobe cabinets and the u-shaped dinette because the what i lost was having a couch or something like that but if you look at the 2016 they lose a lot of wardrobe space so it's a big trade off when you get that couch you're gonna lose that wardrobe space so that's up to you it's you know to each their own and so this is what i like though i like the fact the table spins around and i can have it whatever way i want okay a couple other things i like i like the overall space in this when you have the slide in with the slide in you have one rug worth of width and that's three feet and there's plenty of space here to walk from the front to the rear the only problem is you can't sleep in the bed because the bed is folded up to bring the slide in but hey that's okay because i use the top bunk if i want to crash out for a minute when you put the slide out look at this space it's pretty outstanding you can walk behind this bed no problem there's space over here and the point being you have a lot of space that slide out goes out pretty far i would say it goes out close to three feet and if you look at like a 25r because of the different setup they have this slide doesn't go out as far which is good because that's the way that rig is it's kind of a smaller footprint but this here one um goes out about three feet and once it goes out boy you got a ton of room in here you can actually bring in a chair and set it down here you can bring in a chair and set it down here in front of the table so it's a a great overall the space is awesome my last like major like is that once i did the upgrade to the steering stabilizer which i've already talked about and the sway bars this rig drives like a dream it drives great i drive one hand down the road holding a cup of coffee and it just it i'm very comfortable in the seats i know some people you know not every seat is a good fit for every person so i understand that but it's been a um it rides great you know um when you're driving down the road and it handles well but this of course is once i did the upgrades once i did the upgrades when you first get it you're not going to have that but now that i have them this thing rides like a dream so i think that's about it for my quick hits uh you know other than things like it has a really good awning outside that comes out it covers a lot of ground uh it has the awning has uh good exterior led lights on it and uh you know a lot of little stuff the windows are nice the shades aren't bad so so i think that's about it for my likes and dislikes oh i will say one last dislike then i'm gonna have to come up with a like i don't like to end up on a bad note one last like uh dislike i don't have an inverter i wish i did i wish i had an inverter but i don't have one okay syrah i believe the new ones are coming with them as far as another like because i want to end on a positive note um once again in honor of matt it has a porcelain toilet has a nice little sink by the way integra feel free to install these on your own i put this one in it's a great rig people that's all i can say i love it um unfortunately i'm putting it into storage next week so i'm gonna miss my rig but i plan to get it out right about march sometime end of march and right when i get it out i'm going down south head down um down south so i think that's about it for my likes and dislikes um if you like these videos hit that like button give it the thumbs up and feel free to subscribe
