hello and welcome back to easy English with James today we're going to learn all about the letter T in English the letter T is a consonant letter and it is the 20th letter in the English alphabet and there are a couple of different ways that we pronounce this letter in English it's also a very very common letter so it's very important that you learn this really well so if you want to master pronunciation of this letter stick with me for this important lesson okay so the first way that we can pronounce the letter T you probably already know because it's the same way that we pronounce it in the alphabet so how do we make this sound well we put our tongue on the roof of our mouth and then we blast it down and push air out of the mouth like this okay you can make this Softly or you can make it more powerful and either one is okay depending on what you want to say so let's practice this sound at the beginning of some words words like talk now talk has a really interesting vowel sound after the T or or so you can see my my mouth my jaw goes in talk talk talk talk or test test and time time and also toward toward I'm walking towards you I'm walking towards you okay toward so talk test time and toward okay let's practice T in the middle of some words words like Twitter Twitter actually has tea everywhere Twitter now of course you probably know Twitter from this guy Twitter Twitter or words like enter enter I enter the building or words like interesting interesting you'll notice there's a silent sound in that word somewhere interesting interesting and finally words like obtain obtain obtain obtain so practice again Twitter enter interesting obtain Twitter enter interesting and obtain okay let's practice T at the end of words like night night day and night or went I went he went she went or against against me against you me against him and finally accept accept accept so night went against and accept night went against accept night went against accept try this are lots and lots of words in English that are just three letters that end in t and have different vowel sounds in the middle so we're going to have a look at those because it's a great way to practice the letter T and some vowel sounds in English so first of all look at this Matt sat fat and Cat with that sound mat sat fat and cat or sit fit bit and lit sit fit bit and lit or Get Set pet and let Get Set pet and let or put but root and Hut or finally bought pot rot and got bot pot rot and got go back and practice those many times because you're not only practicing the sound but you're also practicing a couple of different vowel sounds in there so it's really good practice and now try this amazing practice sentence I got the pot and put it next to the fat cat who was sat on the mat lots of different vowel sounds okay now the second way that we can pronounce the letter T in English is as a shh this is the same sound like when we're telling someone to be quiet shhh okay and when do we pronounce the letter T like this it's most often pronounced like this in Words With t-i-o-n or words with t-i-a or t-i-e let's look at some examples words like Nation Nation what nation are you from I am from England that is my nation Nation you might also see the word nationality nationality remember it's with that sh sound nation and nationality or words like patient patient and patience patient and patience be patient be patient or finally words like initial initial and action action or education education can you think of any more words that end in t-i-o-n here's a little test for you if you can think of any more words with that sh sound write them in the comments below how many can you find okay you'll notice in some words with the letters t and I the T and I can sometimes be
