English-Add Google drive Image to Power BI - get the Direct links using Power Query

[Music] welcome again today we're going to see a smart way to add photos in our dashboard as you may be know that there is a direct way by uh insert uh photo direct photo from here like this but this way is not dynamic I need another way Dynamic with the project name even if I have dates I can make it Dynamic with the dates so how to achieve this one to achieve this one to do this I explain this way in this video in tips and tricks show image in a smart way however today I going to repeat with another trick that uh it wasn't available at this time so keep continue watching this video first we going to insert two visuals I have here the visual stool uh we can write here image this simple image is the first one add and let's get another one image again we have something here called image grid I believe yes image gr as well these two visuals relay on online imag as you can see image URL to do this we have to use one of the sites that we can store the before I was using this one and I advised the people to use this one however now it it make it more difficult because they limit the free edition by only 32 megab therefore today I I bring to you another option and I think it's available for all of us which is Google Drive Google Drive uh anyone can make of course account and and uh and it provide like 15 GB if you have company account or something you could get like one the so as I said I going to use uh Google Drive and I will tell you the tricks okay I have this city front and this the photos AI generated you can organize your photos p uh date for example since this is a data date 11 first of November so we can create folder first of November and upload all the photo inside it so we can be more organized in our dashboard once you upload all of this photo we can we have actually to select all of them and make from here share share or manage access if you have then not restrict or I will tell you another option this drive itself we can make it as a anyone with the link done now let's see the difference between the direct and not direct if we click on on this photo like this it will open within uh the Google Drive uh um platform that mean there is button here you can see a background there so that's not a direct link but we if we open this photo for example you can see here it's only this photo nothing with the photo and this what we need to uh have in our um d uh in our t for to do this I will tell you how to do it using the power query so let's back to our photos once we uh make it all uh shared with everyone as a link we can select all and uh I can make it from here share share then copy links let's go to our Excel and let's create one column called image the I will paste this link but when you paste all of this photos together it will came in the same cell I will tell you a a small trick we can paste here and then uh there is a nice uh formula called split T split maybe it's not available for everyone just to make sure otherwise you can make it manual and I will select uh C3 then uh column delimeter no I need row delimeter which is the comma then okay here we go this the photos I will take it contrl C let's go here contrl V and I need it as a value this one I repeat it for all of the projects I assume it's something like this okay this is the first step now we need to do some changes by removing this last and replacing at the beginning you can do this in Excel or you can do it in power qu because we work now in powerbi I will tell you how to do this in power query I will save this one and let's go to Power query query refresh this is the photo okay okay nothing wrong okay as I said we need to First extract we we need to remove the last part how to do this one easy we can hear from transer remember this last part so I can select till this slash before View and from transform going to extract extract Tex before delimeter contrl V okay then we need to to replace this one with the direct link uh prefix I will I will leave for you the prefix it's something like this so I will copy contrl C and from here extract first we need to remove the first part so pair with me I will remove the first part contrl C and again extract text after the limiter at this time control V okay it will give me only the ID of the photo now I have to add this part let's select the column and now not extract format add prefix control V okay why I prefer to do this in power query because I don't have to do this again just every time I will base the photo there and refresh it will do this step but if I did this one in Excel I have to keep repeat every time I paste the uh uh every time I baste the links or you can develop your own micro to to changes one automatic let's see now the result you can test this uh link yes it work very good let's from home close and apply and let's go back to our dashboard and in the first visual I will put image give it a while yes Salam it work very nice let's change the project see it change with the project why I add this one there is another way to add multiple images for every project and make link with this so you can preview here all the images at the same time I will show you show you one symbol I will create here new page and in this page I will add the symbol again the simple image the big one like this and then I will add here the image grid maybe as a side of the Big Image then we don't have here any filters so if I I if I went to this one and images if I put it here it's supposed to show for me all the images in the file let's change the layout I will go here setting uh top list Circle no I will want to show it in a grid and then this grid could be maximum column two or one like this then the same link I will use it in the simple image visual what is the difference here I can see only one photo however here I can see multiple photo so by this one if I click here I can present the photos in in a in a new way also I can use here like a card up there like this and I will take the project name here and if I click in this photo it will change the project name of course we can adjust this page in more beautiful way however this is not the subject of uh this video but the s for the sake of this exercise I will keep only one photo I can uh maximize this one and from the setting I can select to fit or run normal and we can make it middle Center actually there is another option but I don't prefer it because uh I will tell you why I will I will repeat the same from share share and copy links and there is a site developed by someone and this site called embedded yo code if you paste this links here make sure it's sharing and then we have to uh remove the comma and make every Link in a single I will just for the exercise in a single line so it's clean like this and then generate link it will uh do what we did in power query replacing uh the prefix with this one and removing this uh this part what you can do you can copy the photo one
