Eminem Goes Sneaker Shopping With Complex

[Music] what's up everybody its Joe from complex were in Detroit at burn rubber with rap legend Eminem I've always felt like shoes are like 90% of your outfit gonna do some sneaker shopping tonight gonna see what he's feeling what he's not and then hopefully is gonna buy some sneakers or hopefully you'll buy some for me I have $2.00 we're gonna figure it out let's go take credit cards yeah [Music] and the cool thing about your collaborations is most of them go to charity did you keep that in mind when you wanted to do these sneaker projects throughout the years that you would give back to a charitable cause yeah I mean for sure if people want to pay you know a ridiculous amount of money for for shoes you know I understand the collector will just give it to charity it's kind of how we figured you hop in and out with sneaker projects did you ever think to design projects consistently because you're influenced some of these are super super rare where every few months if you had a collab they'd probably sell out really I just I just you know Nikes always been pretty much my favorite shoe since I can remember since I was a kid I was like thank you saying it's amazing to be able to do something you know anything with Jordan in the first place me doing that might oversaturated or something too we have the shady records that came out in 2004 bad meets evil with Royce the car hearts which made a huge splash in the past couple years is there any that stick out to you that are your favorite the force have always been my favorite thing but sometimes they don't always look the way I want them to when I'm within a certain outfit right so you know I might wear something else but these are like my go-to shoes that I love if I'm doing something I gotta coordinate and everything usually rock things but I do like airmax a lot too you are an investor in a Detroit based company stock X which has made a huge impact on the sneaker culture what was it like to get involved with something in your own city well that's incredible you know anything that I can do for Detroit and in coordination with is is great and there's a new thing coming out the Encore jordans which I saw last week at a store in New York City for $75,000 those are the original the first on yes well these are these are the reissue but the thing with these is there's only 23 pairs crazy and actually it's only 22 because Mike took a pair Wow he's got first crack at it yeah of course well why not yeah and they're gonna be for charity of during the holidays yeah how do you feel about when friends and family shoes make it to consignment stores get your hustle on I don't know you know it's fine well what I do is when I get a pair I put them in my closet and then I sell them like a couple weeks later are you yeah anonymously online so that nobody knows that's why I say I'm not mad at the people who do that because I do it I'm kidding I read that you first got into Jordans by seeing eazy-e on a single easy does it is that true absolutely I don't know where you read that where did I say that it I probably said an old interview yeah it was not the first time you saw Jordans and were like there's something about them that I like it's the first time I've seen somebody to me probably to rock them that was that cool you know it was the it was the color it was the 12 inch cover easy does it and he was standing there like this and he had the I'm still trying to find somewhere that do you remember that did you ever it wasn't like a it was a Jordan top to it and it matched the shoes yeah and it was so crazy it had it was like grey right here and it was incredible that was the first time that I was like you know when you're a kid man you see you see your idols on TV rocking or in posters or whatever if definitely rakesh that you want it was it ever weird in the city people wearing Jordans because they were Pistons fans or Jordan just got a pass because the shoes were saying oh it's Jordan yeah so obviously yeah and what about some newer models what are some of your favorite I just got a pair of these the other day he's crazy yeah these are incredible I remember being a kid and my mom would say you can buy a pair of shoes and then that's it right or and you're gonna have to get your outfits from Goodwill whatever but uh I would always pick the shoes and you went through a airmax phase I remember the rap god cover you at the airmax Ltd's but you also wore like the airmax right which is like an obscure airmax yeah I feel like just I don't know there's something about the bubble I always like I feel like it's I don't know maybe it's mental but it adds comfort or something I don't know they're comfortable and what are some of your favorites you know the 95 well I wouldn't do my face with these I went through a phase with these for a long time there's something about there's a pet peeve that I have with shoes and it's one of the reasons that I've always been so attracted to the Jordan force when the toe points up on the shoe okay and it goes like this because then it kind of looks like you're walking in clown shoes that's one of my pet peeve so whenever a shoe has the toe points up like that I usually run the other way naked speaking of naked you could probably walk around naked in these what do you think about some of this this stuff and they would notice these first just doing a lot one thing I want to ask is social media now we see that like people get new shoes and they get so excited they post like to flex on social media is it weird for you to see or do you get it no I totally I completely get it because you know I've always felt like shoes are like 90% of your outfit definitely so whatever shoes you got on if you're wearing a tablecloth as long as you've got some cool shoes you're gonna get you'll be respected for it for sure [Music] and you performed overseas recently at the UK and you wore adidas what you like about them especially when wearing them on stage first of all Nike is not the only shoe that I've ever liked you know I like adidas - I've always liked adidas of like went through phases Fela Puma these though are just like some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn like these and the Air Max like I sometimes when I'm just lounging I like to just wear what's comfortable you know for a show I figured why don't I try them out just because they're so comfortable when I wear them regularly you know and they're super light too but yeah these are dope one thing I want to talk about another brand you talked about being a fan of other brands the 50 cent explosion when you guys signed him and then he got the Reebok deal it was incredible I mean I don't know another way to say you know 51 I was super excited and you know plus the g-unit ones were they were really good at shoot definitely and then in the Defiant ones it's funny that we learned that Dre thought about getting into sneakers before beats you think he made the right decision no no he should have got into like sandals or something [Music] so M we talked about everything now you get to browse the shelves see what you're gonna take home and I get to see what Paul's gonna buy me so yeah and you heard him say he'll buy me whatever I want yeah I need a pair too okay cool I got I'm just gonna get a couple pairs where your heels at Paul is this cool I don't want to overdo it you know you're being so kind to offer I'm gonna make sure I win light okay so these five pairs right here is what Paul wants to buy me take credit cards yeah push it
