hello the video I made last week about how much does it cost to go to the doctor seem to be very popular I got a lot of views and also got a lot of questions and one of the questions was what would I do if I had an emergency in the middle of the night in a hick Mexico like I fell down and hit my head and I actually have an answer to when that really did happen my cousin was visiting and he fell down and smacked his head anyway I'm going to tell you what we did when that happened but I'm not going to have you watch me while I'm talking about it I went into Guadalajara a couple of days ago and I used my GoPro to just film the traffic coming and going and I don't like that footage because there's always so much noise in the band and in traffic when you're filming like that so I'm going to play that with the audio muted as I tell the story of what did we do for an emergency in the middle of the night and I keep Mexico a medical emergency please enjoy my stories or whatever else might be on mine today my cousin who was visiting from South Dakota fell down by my pool smacked his head real good on the flagstone and knocked himself unconscious for a minute or so uh he got up and he seemed to be okay for a couple of hours and then he started acting a little goofy so I called my doctor and I have my doctor cell phone number it's on his business card is your doctor's cell phone number on his business card if you live in the United States probably not you have to call and get the answering service and well never mind you know how that works anyway I called my doctor and he was out to dinner with his family but he made a call and had a different doctor come to our house for a house call to examine my cousin to see if he had concussion and he charged us 400 pesos which was about $25 for that examination he decided that we should go to an emergency hospital in Guadalajara and he called the hospital and made arrangements for us to be received up there for a cat scan and whatever other services you need if you might have a concussion so that was like about 8:30 at night and we took off it's about an hour's drive into Guadalajara to get to Guadalajara it's big cities five million people and if you're gonna drive to the north part of Guadalajara from here it might be a couple of hours but it depends on the time of the day in the traffic I'm very comfortable driving into Guadalajara I've long time and I've been to Guadalajara regularly for many years anyway I'm comfortable so we jumped in my van and we took off the alternative would be to get a cap and for those of you who might be considering you know visiting Mexico or the chapala area and you were wondering about that that's or if you weren't comfortable you maybe there are people that live here that aren't comfortable about driving into guadalajara at any time of the day like I said it's a big city and it's it's intimidating traffic anyway I drove him into there it took about a little over an hour we arrived at the hospital at 10 o'clock they were expecting us and a neurosurgeon came from home and met us and after they did their tests and then the doctor talked to him and examined him and looked at the results of a cat scan and I don't know what else they did but there were some other tests of some kind the neurosurgeon decided that he was okay that he did not have a concussion and that he should be released from the hospital that his goofy was just normal goofy anyway there are 24-hour places here at Lakeside that you could go to for some kind of some kinds of an emergency a few years ago my mother on her way to bed late in the evening slipped on the steps and got a fairly severe gash on her shin and we took her to the clinic and a doctor there sewed her up and according to her US doctors when she returned home did an excellent job so there are things that you can get taken care of here 24/7 here at Lakeside there's another facility being built I don't know if it's finished yet it might be built or it might be soon in business where they will have things like cat scans and MRIs and that kind of equipment that for years haven't been available here at Lakeside we can get x-rays but we couldn't get a cat scan or MRI we'd have to go to Guadalajara for that anyway the bill at the hospital for that emergency room visit for my cousin was 7200 pesos which is about $400 and he paid for that with his United States visa card so I hope that information might be helpful if you're considering visiting Mexico or living in Mexico and you are curious about the question I got on my youtube channel about what would happen if you fell down and banged your head in the middle of the night well that's exactly what we did when we thought we had a family emergency in the middle of the night in ahi hate Mexico thanks for listening hey if you liked me give me one of those thumbs up and please subscribe and hit that little Bell so you know when I post next please share me with your friends on social media thank you for watching I hope you enjoyed what was on my mind today
