let's talk about the Tesla electric semi truck and some numbers put forward by Elon Musk now a lot of you guys are probably already familiar with the numbers that musk brought up for the overall efficiency 1.7 kilowatt hours per mile let me tell you for an electric semi truck as large as these behemoths that is incredibly good it's really substantial and very impressive energy consumption very good 1.7 kilowatt hours per mile he even said there's a possibility of a path to 1.6 or 1.5 which would be absurdly efficient but inside EVS actually talked about this as well and it caught my eye because it got me thinking inside EVS did the math and talked about the overall range they said that the battery pack for the Tesla electric semi truck might actually be around 850 kilowatt hours now some of you might look at that and wonder is that good is that actually okay because it seems like it would be prohibitively heavy and bulky but let me tell you it's actually the complete opposite this kind of vehicle being powered by a battery pack was unheard of until very recently and we've got to remember that the goal here is to be able to transport a great deal of cargo to be able to travel routinely and consistently with little downtime and that is exactly what we are seeing accomplished here we are finally seeing the marriage of this kind of Technology with real utility now a lot of people view electric vehicles as toys especially in the industrial and agricultural sectors they say these vehicles don't have the range or capacity they need for work but what excites me about this is that it's going to open a lot of Minds to the possibility that these vehicles can bring real utility it's going to cross a big psychological barrier where people will realize this is finally a possibility and something we can do it also indicates that Tesla has enough battery cells to get the job done battery sales refer to the number of batteries the company can make and feel and now we're seeing a world where the manufacturing for those cells and batteries is not as limited as it was before if we're talking about semi trucks the Cyber truck pickup trucks even Vans these utility focused vehicles with large batteries would be very battery cell intensive and that's a no-brainer but now we're getting to the point where those battery cells are starting to see widespread availability this is a game-changing consideration it's not just about one vehicle it's about all the vehicles that can be enabled by a very large battery pack and the number of cells that could be flowing it also opens up the possibility of experimenting with new vehicle models like the 25 000 car having a surplus of batteries and battery cells is an extremely important step [Music]
