Electric Vehicles Are Destined to Fail - Here's Why

[Music] hey everyone welcome to the rectifier report the channel where I plug you in with the latest and greatest on scientific advancements I'm your host and today I'm going to talk about the downsides of electric cars or EVS for short you might think that EVS are the best thing since sliced bread and that they are better for the environment cheaper to run and more fun to drive than conventional cars but are they really all that good or are they just a bunch of glorified golf carts in this video I'm going to share with you some of the disadvantages of owning an EV and why you might want to stick with your old gas guzzler because let's be real my electric ball trimmer sounds better the first downside of EVS is their High upfront cost these are still quite pricey compared to petrol or diesel cars and many buyers find them out of their budget for example the cheapest brand new EV in Australia that you can buy is the Hyundai ioniq and it costs around fifty thousand dollar drive away that's a lot of money for a small hatchback and if you want something more fancy or fast like a Tesla Model X or a jaguar i-pace you're looking at nearly two hundred thousand dollars that's a lot of money for any car you could buy a house with that kind of money or yet or a private island the second downside of EVS is their limited range EVS can only travel as far as their batteries allow them and once they run out of juice you need to find a place to recharge them this can be a problem if you're planning a long road trip or if you live in an area where charging stations are scarce for example the Hyundai ioniq has a range of 250 kilometers on a full charge which means you can only drive a quarter of the way from Brisbane to Sydney before you need to stop in charge and charging an EV is not as quick or convenient as filling up a petrol tank depending on the type of charger and the battery capacity it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours to fully charge an EV that's a lot of time wasted on the road you could watch a whole movie in that time or read a book or take a nap or watch five hours of 4K Ultra HD 275 Hertz gorilla meeting rituals with David Attenborough oh yeah baby the third downside of EVS is their lack of variety EVS are still relatively new in the market and there are not many models available to choose from most EVS are either small hatchbacks or large SUVs and there are not many options in between if you're looking for a sedan a coupe a UDA or a sports car that runs on electricity you might be out of luck because all that available is soccer mom Teslas that look like an inbred tortoise and even if you find an EV that suits your taste in budget you might have to wait for months or even years to get it delivered as there is often a long waiting list for popular models a much better option if you're looking for a piece of is a Mustang Plus you can hit crowds and they're much better than a Tesla that's a lot of hassle for buying a car to travel around the world in that time or learn a new language or start a family the fourth downside of EVS is their uncertain resale value EVS are still evolving rapidly and new models with better batteries performance and features are coming out every year this means that older models might become obsolete or outdated quickly and lose their value faster than petrol or diesel cars also since EVS rely on batteries that degrade over time and use Cycles their lifespan and range might decrease over the years so what are you green is going to do with these old batteries shove them up each other's asses this can affect their appeal and demand in the second hand Market that's a lot of risk for investing in a car you could lose a lot of money in that time or make a lot of money or donate a lot of money so there you have it for downsides of electric cars that you should consider before you buy one don't get me wrong I'm not saying that EVS are bad or that you shouldn't buy one I'm just saying that they are not perfect or suitable for everyone and that you should weigh the pros and cons carefully before you make your decision thank you for watching this video If you enjoyed it please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel for more content like this and let me know in the comments what do you think about electric cars would you buy one why or why not I'd love to hear your thoughts
