I am Bertha Skye dashes at McMaster University Hospital I'm here to demonstrate about or a route called in Ontario it's called rat route and Manitoba Saskatchewan and Alberta is called weekís and what this is good for is when you're catching a cold you take a little piece of this it's pretty this is pretty dry take a little piece and and chew chew it and it has a very bitter flavor but I remember when I was a child this was all we used because we never went to a doctor when I was a child when we were catching a cold this is what we took and my mother had her all her remedies that she used for every one of us and this was the main one and it's used for different things a lot of needy people use it for their diabetes they have diabetes they can chew on it after they eat a lot of sugar in sugary junk food and it's good for them and I remember when I was a little girl my dad would go hunting he'd be gone for a week he'd always take take some of this because he would have to sleep outdoors when he went hunting and you know me always made sure he had it and later on that knife my brother made medicine for this was what are the main ingredients for for a cancer medicine that he made today a lot of people so many people across Canada to use it for for their medication and when I was a child I never went to a doctor there was no doctors available if we were going to a hospital or a doctor we'd have to go as far as Prince Albert which was 80 miles we had our own medicine men medicine women and midwives and all the herbs was in in our backyard and and this was one of them that was so important thank you
