I'd just take the high road not say a word mm-hmm but when people on the internet again ever saying Hank I could say I mean Dave both be wrong well he had to respond and say they're both lying you know but anyway you know to me again with Gary sure all now it's seamless again we're just moving on yeah like going back to those years with with David Lee Roth again as I expensively with the diamond yeah first it was Dave then it was they were off and it was David Lee Roth and it became Diamond David Lee Roth wondering what's next Ivan David Lee Roth to you I gotta tell you we when we worked with these guys we loved them they were great and we had a lot of fun you know but just like in any relationship sometimes things just go sour and it's that simple you know it was very talented we had a lot of great times together and I respect them both on a musical level then Highland through those years started getting bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger how much pressure was put on on you as the songwriters etc to come up with the goods time and time again I mean yeah there was none at all not at all no I'd seen that suffer through uh you know some tough periods were yeah but it's not that but that wasn't because of the pressure for anybody again it was he was looking for something yeah we all are when we did you know you see always saying meets all of us no no no but I meant sit around and we experiment you know we're still trying to get that elusive drum sound that we hear in our head you know it's just it's not about it's not about topping yourself in a in a commercial saying commercially on the pub little whatever a does records but or not one thing you know to me what we've got 13 records you know darling I have three have 13 children draw a little different but I love them all you know why us that does is that that I mean here you are the judge what's better absolutely you know I mean the pressure was really on but as far as like your grass touring or what and then come back and do another major album out it would come back on the road again and you've shown through all of that whereas new bands today tend to sort of have I don't know so there's some vulnerability and can't almost disintegrate within you know a couple of years because I love a that can't take the pressure Bay it's something else and I think what most people don't realize is that even though we made our first record in 1977 he was released a 78 mechanically about seven years before that we were playing in bars you know five hours a night and that kind of thing that's what we do you know it's what we enjoy hmm and so as far as pressure no the only pressure you put on that you get is that you put on yourself right when you try to drive yourself further canasa they said I mean did you ever imagine back then then that you'd be hailed as one of the greatest guitarists did you have to be one day it was that no no no no no I still do where they can't relate really I think everybody's an individual you know in smile it's just the way I play it's like I don't know it's like it's a various museums remember ed I used to play guitar yeah and Ed played drums and to make a long story short he got batters had plays a time but the moment he picked up the guitar it didn't take a genius to figure out that he had a connection with it mm-hmm no kind of a natural thing for me that's just like dog food it's very grateful to be blessed with two guests and I think if you think if you take yourself too seriously that's what everybody album when you start thinking yeah yeah I'm a guitar hero you know what I really I know oh I danced the night away what is a guitar hero passed away dancing the night away lanlan Ottawa dance the night away is a song that didn't turn out her all the way I imagined it in my head when I wrote it right and I didn't like it at all either not in respect that there's the same anybody added the way that it wasn't the song was didn't come out thank you but it doesn't really matter what it is but you know what's funny is we played a gig once with was a Black Sabbath and I think sandy was actually a gig we parachuted into Ohanian stadium in there stayed here and you know at a stadium I mean Sabbath music really works well as stated yeah I've got the balls and that's atheist night away when is this song ever gonna end get the hell it just didn't end up this is just one section in it that's kind of foolish don't know yeah you know I don't know wanted to be you know senator Spanish yeah West do it this laugh field is dancing do you have to remember though it's like the beginning when you just start out there are other people too a lot of other people involved in making a record meet you know whether it's the producer or the the record company ones and when all this weekend what Unchained uh let's see that was fair warning it was 8081 yeah fair warning was a rough time for the band in terms of kind of a dark record yeah it was it was also a dark experience with eternally things that started to fall apart with Dave in terms of just being together as a band you know and Edie as an outsider I could see what ed was going through and he spent a lot of time making that record and that's why at that point in time or near that time is when they had decided I'm gonna make my own studio as I have Tavor down yeah but it was no that was a setup that sequence defense yeah yeah fair warning I mean I I'd go down a sunset south on land their engineer four o'clock in the morning and do my guitar solos and and do stuff the next day every would walk in they didn't even know what they thought we'd that I'd done it the day when everyone was there but but there was a lot of I didn't know either regardless it was it was more of a guitar record and it was according to Warner Brothers so it was probably booth the worst selling record out of the catalogue and I'm Li still a month multi-platinum but there was no life [Music] including that a doctor does it I mean some people and some waters sometimes can pull them from a gnat absolutely yeah oh yeah I think some of the greatest I think some of the greatest music is on that on for a fair warning yeah yeah oh no I think every emotion everything you feel you know depression anger everything comes out in the music and sometimes that kind of stuff motivates you to really you know like I said a lot the next ones jumped first song we recorded here when he finally recorded it they all just said Wow well did well Panama what does that mean when you hear it cuz I don't understand a damn lyric it had to do with yeah it had to fit the vibe of the Panama hat and smoking dope this is what the song really gets about oh yeah and the rest of the stuff is a hot shoe burdened down the Avenue we don't like that my favorite part is sitting outside here the day was into this trip you know he goes he goes memorize there goes he goes and all these all these little think all these are the latest cranes you know if there's skateboarding he's gotta have a skateboard and then oh well Panama kind of had the vibe and smoke with the big the big ganja at the time and that's what the songs about well he's still in Panama them with with this new era with Sammy it was it hard at the start of having to nursing through being the replacement of David Lee Roth we can ask him that yeah the first of all we never looked at him as a replacement yeah you know I think it's the biggest mistake it's a psychological let's toss there's a new band yeah it was a band that's all it was yeah no really yeah he just saved guys Josiah same guy just different wife you know same guy different motive anyway I've spoken to him on a Friday and he was here Monday hmm and funny thing is he said I knew you were gonna call me really yeah well he was right I did did did but he showed up on a Monday and we jammed summer nights good enough you know summer nights was the first one yeah and hey he could sing you're in well that's simple yep yep what we'll go right through this dreams great song yeah it is great fun right now uh the music for that was written back in 83 mm-hmm and certain people just wanted nothing to do with it so finally Alex and I just tracked it you know and say it Electronics stop loving you I think it was last time we wrote for the balance record the bruise fast he have any you know any any pop things laying around and you know we should see what we come up with over the weekend and that's what we come up came up with human being that was Alex and I went down and saw the twister movie and the bond asked us to do some music run and you know immediately same day I think we came back to the studio and we're inspired by it on the road again oh definitely yes coming to Australia that a promise in 97 I'll give you my address yes we are coming I do if you don't come out Tuesday we are never manga Ruby in your library and they regret it mainly no we finally have the team together that sees eye-to-eye but working and you know there's no there's no attitudes anymore well just normal smells you know we we like to make me it's it's not it's for the love of music and what is music for for people so you're playing for people yeah well I want to go to Austria I've never been there I know we're not that's been a great ride no we have friends there too baby animals or buddies you know yeah mom and they were like right yeah now tell me I've done finally I mean like we talked about all this and just tell me you know there's this there how much stuff is filed away that I should've never heard of you know how much how much do a lot probably about a hundred records worth I'll just show you today blabbering and then this is just it's scary yeah it's just a part of it yeah you know I mean just new stuff we have enough for a couple three were albums full mmm and why don't let's go to the other room I'll show you okay thanks a lot I'm at you're
