if you're fast and curious about an EDC toolkit that fits in a credit card based wallet like this one and just weighs 168 grams just stay tuned now the video has been inspired by Todd Parker's lightest EDC toolkit video in which he really mentioned six car tools that for him I essential actually seven if you include lights but as I choose a completely different way of handling the light question um I have not put them up because I think that for me these are the core tools a knife that is a functional knife with lots of functions pliers scissors tweezers a pen screwdriver kit with 14 bits and that is quite a challenge now beforehand I was using something like this and this is for example a wrench with by Victorinox hex range and I can use it with all these Bits And as you will see already we are at about 100 something grams now then I often used um a Victorinox Ranger like that now we are 217 and then if I use these knee pegs Cobra access water pump pliers then I'm about 270 grams and although this for many EDC kits this is actually pretty lightweight because it's much lighter than typically some pliers-based multi-tools that are pretty capable it is still bulky enough and heavy enough to be not really for the pocket and I also agree that this one the Ranger with the saw Etc is maybe not really the best Urban kit but I really liked it so I based on his video reviewed my tool set and I came up with two of the same tools that I already had and therefore I'm was even more intrigued to use the toolkit they are the cletex Cobra XS pliers usually they are 60 grams sometimes my balance is a bit off um they have taken the EDC Community by storm because they are really they look tiny but they are Mighty powerful um you can stretch the the opening pretty far and still because you're usually you're only using this as really your leverage um they're really great and therefore lots of people actually now leave their place based multi-tools the leathermans and even the victorinoxes Gabba Sarah they leave them at home and take these instead the other one I also was very intrigued about because it's rightly so I have never used it although I have it for years I've never used this really as my primary EDC knife but let's look at it it is a relatively large plate it's the Bantam airlocks by Victorinox and just for the sake of it so we've got 28 grams usually it's 20. nine grams my balance is again off but let's just check the size of the blade and compare that with a classic 91 millimeter enable see that actually there's not much of a difference the length is astoundingly capable and of course on the other side you've got the iconic combo tool which is a can opener bottle opener screwdriver etc etc don't want to go too much into it but it's a very known tool especially with the Victorinox compact which is also one of the EDC iconic multi-tools so these two tools I fully agree with but now we come to the scissors the tweezers and the pen and those are when I heard this or when he listed them for me this was self-evident I wanted to use like I always do for years now the Victorinox signature electronic signatures if you first look at it you sometimes think it's something like a toy a miniature model of a real Swiss army knife but it is not everyone who's got these knows that these are pretty capable we've got another blade which in this case is not really that interesting but we do have the tweezers on this side and they have the same length even though they are from a relatively tiny blade they have the same length the difference between the these tweezers is usually just the head which is then configured for the usage in this case it is the head for the 58 millimeter range and I've got the um nail file the nail file of course you can use it for other stuff filing away plastic Etc it's not great but it probably will work um you've got a little smaller screw a flathead screwdriver but the most important party trick actually is then the push out pen you just push it out and actually you can also easily replace it by just extracting it so this pen is mighty capable and I love writing with it so this has been my basic EDC pen for years and I don't wear it in a wallet I have to say for me it's much more practical on a keychain but now comes the part and that is really a challenge that is the screwdriver kit with 14 bits as I said in the past I've been using some normal quarter inch bit sets but that is not really comfortable to wear in a in a sleeve like that and of course it's rather heavy the whole thing so what I did was I used this hex key it's a hex5 key in just a normal one this one's by Vera but it really doesn't matter um and I've used that in combination with one of those sets because it's really lightweight and this one is a toe Peak adapter that I just slid on top so that I can use it for something like a crank set of a bike and then we have the pbswiss tool adapter it's called the pb470m it's really tiny but mighty mighty nice it's because the it there's very very very little play with this and the magnets are astounding but the weight um the weight shaving is it can only be really succeeded with bits other than the quarter inch bits and thereby I'm using the four millimeter Precision bits in order to do that there are these quarter inch bit adapters for precision bits and they internally have a magnet as well so this whole thing if we if we're in weight again is about 35 grams and I'm using double-sided builds to save even more weight this is a normal Precision bit that I use as a four millimeter drive so um and then if I turn it around it's a hex 20 which I wanted to have this as a combination so this is actually not a real double-sided um bit but by definition it is because it's a four millimeter hex now these ones here are of this set which are double-sided Bits And as you see here they are really the tolerances are pretty amazing so it is no problem uh using the screwdrivers with that and of course then in the end I also have just like Todd two normal sized ones that I haven't shaved off in in size and this is a hex4 because the hex6 sorry X6 if you want to use that for example with a saddle of a bike in order to loosen it or Shrink that yes you want I think a quarter inch bit rather than an oversized four millimeter Precision bit and the same is here for the Torx 25 now let's put them on the balance bit adapter off [Music] and all these just wait 20 grams which is really amazing the bits that um Todd is using are the Leatherman double-sided bits which are often called two-dimensional but they are actually quarter inch drivers that have been shaved off so they are thinned and thereby of course they they are maybe you can't use them with the same amount of torque then you would use a normal quarter inch bit the other thing is that because they don't fill out the whole volume of a screw especially the larger sizes they can grind off a little the screw as well as of course the bit driver as well so all together that should be around 54 grams so this set is actually more lightweight than the set that Todd has proposed I'm losing a little on this one here because this one is 10 grams heavier than his solution for scissors tweezers and pen that you can look up on his website so I think that I've really done an interesting job now how to wear this I've eased my solution here I already have here the bits that I select and then I've got this little sleeve it's a credit card sleeve I just I'm usually pull that around and then put that into the sleeve and I can even now push the knife here which makes it nice and flat I'm taking now the wallet and I'm inserting the wallet in here so next is the key I'm just inserting it here we go I have a set in this case even with 20 bit sizes in this wallet and I think that's really good because I now never take this off I can go over to airports over this because this is not sharp this is not considered a weapon I hope um and I I could just use it and forget it in my wallet it's even possible to put the um the the pliers in here so I have gotten out this little hole here I can push that through it's a bit tight it's a bit but it could work as well so um I think I succeeded in completely reviewing my EDC kit and now I have a fully functional yet very compact way and this goes with my keychain if you've got any ideas or if you've got any questions about some of the other tools and how I came to the idea of using these double-sided bits then just put it in the comments and let's start a discussion I hope you had fun and you got some inspiration see you soon
