hi I'm Liz Gilbert and this is my house and I'm selling it for no particularly rational reason except for that I love moving and I've spent the last six years making this house really beautiful so if you want you can buy it I'm gonna show it to you come on in this is the hallway it's in 1869 Italianate for over four Victorian house in beautiful condition this is the original ground and entry right the stairs leading up comes into the dining room on this side here's the dining room but this is where you can dine if you need a room to dine in that's what we call fun and we have these doors what you didn't know there were doors there pocket doors just tuck right into the pocket cigarettes or anything else that you want to put your pocket except ours this is the downstairs study which is complete with beautiful built-in cabinets for all of your books and object and wonderful ceiling fan and nice views of the garden from every window is very quiet here and peaceful are you still here would you like to see the rest of that box come with me this is the downstairs living room has really gorgeous original molding has beautiful views overlooking the Delaware River Valley Marvel fireplace and behind above a fireplace secret built-in doors a little wine rack for when you want to complain I'm just kidding not that kind of wine what this is the basement washer and dryer that's all the wood that we burn your furnace totally dry and the piece de resistance of the basement my husband's incredible 500 bottled wine cellar guest bedroom number one we call this the green room not like the green room where your weight to be on TV but the green room because that that is great let's see beautiful Northern Light plenty room for a king-size bed and another bed and a wide closet I couldn't pronounce mocking I'm not can close it look I'm walking in whoa so huge yeah threw me Ruth did KL giant it's like a bedroom for a whole nother person in there probably thinking that's the only walk-in closet in the house it's not house it number two and this is the second guest bedroom we call it the Red Room Western views that's the Delaware River down there this room is the quietest one enough and again join it this is a king-sized bed look how much extra room there is in here it's huge what are you doing all this space I row fill it with your loving family okay uh-oh somebody who's making the bed this is her bedroom this is actually the smallest of the bedrooms but I think the sweetest it has please like it's very nice another king-size bed huge oh nice closets two or all this closed down this is the bathtub bathroom which is right next to the master bedroom original clawfoot bathtub and really beautiful sunset views overlooking the river overlooking Pennsylvania and really nice a peaceful place second bathroom upstairs we renovated completely so there's some of the original fixtures but we added this which is a giant walk-in steam bath oh hello I'm a little cold the steam it's really nice all of this is natural stone it's all heated and I brought back with me tiles from Tunisia that we put in there that are pretty cool there's one there and there's another one here for little fish swimming through the house away from government was born so bad you get lost in here this is um another little bedroom which is also on the second floor I use it as an office I also use it as a yoga space and an exercise area a little treadmill over there and it's got really cool old whiny steps that lead down to the kitchen oh god it makes me crazy when the paintings are off by a quarter of an inch that's why I have to sell this place again I can't take the madness in here okay now the very best thing in the world this when we moved in was just a giant empty attic space and I was trying to figure out what to use it for and we ended up turning it into a remarkable and kind of unscramble library in the sky otherwise known as the sky berry the first thing are the steps that I had painted with a bit of a poem from Emily Dickinson it says the soul selects her own society then shuts the door so this has been my private refuge the whole time that we've been living in this house the sky berry is 1400 square feet a bookshelf space all of it hand-carved by a master wood artisan it is quiet its way up high it's on the tallest hill in town and the tallest part of the house it feels like you're sort of in a tree house when we built it I asked him to build it as if it had grown not as if it had been artificially built so all of the book shops that go around the whole room if you look closely are carved to look like vines let's build a little secret hiding places and tiny little treasures this is the coolest part of February right here this is a little miniature desk it's very whimsical you can pull out and use to write letters and there's all kinds of secret magical things here like for instance here's a little drawer look so tiny what's inside of it the Golden Frog you slide the Golden Frog to the middle of the drawer put it back in the cabinet and pulls out the secret hidden second jar behind it this is only one of the magical mysteries that is the sky berry it's the most enchanted magnificent space people tell me that I shouldn't tell everybody where my secret drawers are but I'm a memoirist and all I know how to do is reveal I'm sure we're all the secret hidden party my house are okay so back then there's amazing beautiful handcrafted details like this that open to all sorts of magical wonderment and then there's this table just 14 feet long made from an acacia tree and this is where I sat and wrote the signature on all things I also made sure that the sky berry has a bed not just a little bed for little kids which is over here but a giant king-size napping bed over in this corner to make sure that if you're having trouble accessing your creative inspiration you can take a very important map and the views out of that window are of the garden don't would anybody ever leave this as I say there's no rational reason whatsoever we just really like moving and we've been here six years and it's time to go somewhere else but it's really pretty it's prettiest house I've ever lived in except the next one just gonna be really nice too okay now to the very tippity tippity-top of the house this is the cupola it's got a door that was made of glass so that light will come through sort of like stained-glass window this is a little tiny 8 foot square room at the very top of the house and this is where I sat and wrote the book committed because the sky barrier wasn't finished by the time I was working on that book so I just sat up here and I felt like I was on a pirate ship it's really special my niece calls this God's cottage this little spot and it has amazing 360-degree views of French town the village Delaware River Pennsylvania mountains on the other side so this is the kitchen the kitchen we renovated but we tried as much as possible to make it look closer to the original then it was when we moved in because when we moved in it was all like dark 1970s paneling and crappy from lekha and now is tin ceilings and amazing marble cat it's called counters amazing marble counters totally custom made cabinets this is actually refrigerator what it looks like a cabinet no it's refrigerator is that another cabinet no it's a dishwasher wait what's going over here all sorts of beautiful cupboards really nice extra space how about these covers Oh psych it's a door what else do we have we have a giant hood because my husband is sort of a super smoky well he's smoking but he's also a super smoky cook um and we have a gorgeous bear does on the Italian stove which I'll actually really miss this is very wonderful um double sink handy spice rack for the wild and Pensions cook and then we took this little wall out so that we get the beautiful afternoon light coming across the river into the kitchen and evenings which is wonderful this is a little window seat in the kitchen also looking out over the gardens and this is the wood stove which is a really wonderful thing to have in the winter and makes this room absolutely the most cozy room in the entire house are you uncomfortable talking about toilets I'm not Japanese bidet toilet shower light switch is here it is hmm I'm not a conjurer it just sensed me entering the room and then there's also this really beautiful Balinese stone sink it's made on local railroad ties this is technically the back of the house but we consider the front of the house because this is where you drive up and this is our Gardens which I wish we're in more bloom so that you can see how Magnusson that they are they're really magnificent you want to take a tour of the gardens hanging cherry tree beautiful yellow roses this is a wall we brought with us from Indonesia and a shipping container and we assembled here and it tells the story of the Buddhist moment of enlightenment it's very beautiful it's stained we're not packing up that wall tulips which are about to come into for different form of an apple tree grafted onto one beautiful apple tree st. John's wort in case you're depressed don't actually eat it in this form this is the lavender garden this is the little miniature Korean lilac garden this garden gate becomes covered with wisteria all the time as this one this is the original outhouse that came with the house but now it's a garden shed this is an entire echinacea garden it isn't right now but it will be very soon and it's really magnificent these are all well-established blueberry bushes there's my greens garden the only thing we have right now is sorrel only cuz april ulema defrost in a few weeks that's gonna be asparagus actually will be asparagus for years to come all the asparagus you could ever want what's here daisies uh kind of like an English cottage garden was what I was looking for Russian sage another lilac campanula this is the herb garden with some really beautiful established rosemary and thyme that should be coming back year after year and lots of green onions and chives those are all tiger lilies tulips strawberries really really wonderful hostas all through here all summer long and this oh how I wish you can see it hydrangeas bright purple hydrangeas all summer this is a really really pretty garden you guys did a really good job with this garden and this is all just lon when we moved in and I had it hardscaped and landscaped this wonderful thing okay there's a garden gate that goes around this whole entire garden so your pets can run out and play children can run outside and play nobody will be hurt we're now approaching the front of the house where I'm standing right here is a wildflower garden not at the moment but it will be in the summer and every summer it's really beautiful there's French town down the hill there's Delaware River there's Pennsylvania that's my whole house Oh I guess to be rational explanations that it's too big for us there's only two of us and we're traveling a lot these days and we sort of want to have the smaller life that makes a little bit sense that's not actually a reason we're moving because I have to move every few years and we've been here six years which is like in dog years oral is ears that's a century to live in one place if you like buy it and I'm staying in town I'll be your neighbor I'll be like a quarter-mile away who who sells a house to move a quarter-mile away for no reason whatsoever except that they like to move welcome to my pathology see you later you you how do I do okay good Degas come on come on video dog refer see
