hi friends thank you so much for tuning in to my channel today we're going to make a simple and i mean simple elegant fruit tray that you can make at home and while your friends and family to get started i am going to be using these catering trays and covers they come in a pack of five and i got these from sam's i only need one today so i'll use the other ones for future uses and i also have this members mark knife also purchased at sam's i am going to cut the base of leafy lettuce i just picked up one bunch and i'm going to use these leaves to line the base of the tray i used one bunch of the leafy lettuce and it just works as a really good garnish to the fruit tray the ruffles and kinks of the the leaves are just really pretty and it just adds you know another dimension to the fruit tray and also it almost keeps the fruit in place also so it's pretty and it's functional so one bunch of leafy lettuce will get you going the goal here is to fill in as many gaps as possible with the lettuce just around the edges i am keeping the center open and you'll see shortly what i'm going to do to cover up the center of the tray please forgive me i did not let you all know what fruit i'm using but it's going to show in the video but i am going to start off with the pineapple i cut the top of that pineapple off and we're going to put that top to the side and use it for later so as the video progresses i'll definitely show you the fruit that i am using it is winter time and um a lot of fruit is just not i mean it yeah we know it some of it is gonna taste good some of it isn't because it's all not in season yet but i think we did pretty good with picking out the fruit um for this particular occasion so right now i'm chopping up the pineapple and you'll see up next i'm going to cut up strawberries i am going to finish up the strawberries and i also have a mini watermelon that i'm going to cut up and after i cut these things up all of my fruits are washed and dried i am going to place the top of the pineapple that you saw just a few moments ago i'm going to place that in the center of the tray and then the fruit will be ready to be placed in its perfect little spot on the tray i'm using watermelon pineapple strawberries blueberries and three different types of grapes i thought the different colors were going to be a great touch to the tray and now you'll just see me assemble the fruit and i like to group them and not just all on one side but as you'll see when i start with the first fruit i'll start a cluster on one side of the tray and on the direct opposite side i'll add the same fruit on the opposite side it just gives it a balance of color and texture um on the tray my husband and i we were in the store and we picked up two trays that were already done and they just didn't do it for us you know they didn't have any garnish they were just in um the fruit was just in compartments and it wasn't a lot of it and we were going to end up paying maybe 40 or 50 dollars for some very bland trays and we don't know how long you know those trays really have been sitting in the refrigerator so i said you know what let me go ahead and whip this thing up myself and you know doing that we can have it how we want it we can you know pick out the fruit that we want and we did not even spend 40 dollars to you know get this tray how you know we were gonna end up doing picking up those very bland sad looking trays so this can definitely save you money it will take a little time but when i say time it's not hours and hours the most time that it took me was really washing the fruit carefully and i did do that in um by using distilled vinegar and water and just making sure that it was dry that was probably the longest you know cutting up the fruit but um i kept myself entertained my husband came and talked to me and then i also had a tv playing so you know maybe all together it was maybe 40 minutes but it was under an hour and it was not stressful at all cutting up all of the fruit and you know the juices and peels and rinds those were the things that caused a mess so if you do this just make sure you have some type of trash trash receptacle near you so that way you don't have to keep walking back and forth to the trash can so i have something right to my side to dispose those things and right here with the grapes i like to have little bitty clusters so when the guests are getting their grapes they don't have to stand there and pick you know pick with their hands to get the grapes off of the vine i like to use my kitchen scissors just to clip some smaller bunches so that when the guests pick them up with the tongs they can just pick it up and go and not fight with the grapes so i hope that inspired you you know you can save money and you can create something that you will be happy to put on the table or to give to you know give to friends so do this was really fun to put together and i am loving how it is turning out i even amazed myself because it was super simple it smelled divine and i saved some money i mean that's just ingredients for success or should i say ingredients for happiness i like bringing you quick and easy things that you can do at home that you can be proud of yourself and you won't even bust the bank and this is one of those things let me know down in the comment area if
