so the light of christ [Music] angel rejoice all your holy ones are god's throne let the trumpet of salvation sound the triumph of this mighty king rejoice towards in the radiance of this brightness enlightened by the brightness of the eternal king know that the darkness of the world must [Music] let [Music] the lord be with you and also with you lift up your hearts we lift them to the lord let us give thanks to the lord our god it is right to give thanks and praise it is indeed right and hitting that with all the other heart and mind we should acclaim with our voices the invisible almighty father and his only begotten son our lord jesus christ the holy spirit for christ has repaid adam's dead for us to his eternal father and with his dear blood here is the ball contracted through that ancient sin this is [Music] he whose blood this hallows the night when long ago you caused our forefathers the sons of israel [Music] this is the night which swept away the darkness [Music] in which [Music] the night will be as bright as day the light the night gives me will be all ideas on this gracious night then holy father receive our evening sacrifice of praise which holy church by the hands of her ministers renders to you in the solemn offering of this [Music] have wax now we know the praise due to this fiery mirror lit in god's honor from the shining farm [Music] it has suffered no dimming through the sharing of its for it is fed by the melting wax which the mother be brought forth to form the substance land truly blessed is the light on which as he sings and heavenly humans and divine are joined therefore we pray o lord that this candle hallowed in honor of your name may continue bravely to dispel the darkness of this night accepted as our sweet fragrance made mingle with the lights of heaven may the morning [Music] christ your son who came back from the grave that shed his clear light upon mankind and lives and reigns forever [Music] as we await the risen christ let us hear the record of god's saving deeds in history recalling how he saved his people in ages past and in the fullness of time sent his son to be our redeemer and let us pray that through this easter celebration god may bring to perfection in each of us the saving work that he has begun a reading from the book of genesis in the beginning when god created the heavens and the earth the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep while a wind from god swept over the face of the waters then god said let there be light and there was light and god saw that the light was good and god separated the light from the darkness god called the light day and the darkness he called night and there was evening and there was morning the first day and god said let there be a dome in the midst of the waters and let it separate the waters from the waters so god made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome and it was so god called the dome sky and there was evening and there was morning the second day and god said let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place and let the dry land appear and it was so god called the dry land earth and the waters that were gathered together he called seas and god saw that it was good then god said let the earth put forth vegetation plants yielding seed and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it and it was so the earth brought forth vegetation plants yielding seed of every kind and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it and god saw that it was good and there was evening and there was morning the third day and god said let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years and let them be lights in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth and it was so god made the two great lights the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night and the stars god set them in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth to rule over the day and over the night and to separate the light from the darkness and god saw that it was good and there was evening and there was morning the fourth day and god said let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures and let birds fly up above the earth across the dome of the sky so god created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves of every kind with which the waters swarm and every winged bird of every kind and god saw that it was good god blessed them saying be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas and let birds multiply on the earth and there was evening and there was morning the fifth day and god said let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind cattle and creeping things and wild animals of the earth of every kind and it was so god made the wild animals of the earth of every kind and the cattle of every kind and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind and god saw that it was good then god said let us make humankind in our image according to our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over the cattle and over all the wild animals of the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth so god created humankind in his image in the image of god he created them male and female he created them blessed them and god said to them be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth god said see i have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth and every tree with seed in its fruit you shall have them for food and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the air and to everything that creeps on the earth everything that has the breath of life i have given every green plant for food and it was so god saw everything that he had made and indeed it was very good and there was evening and there was morning the sixth day thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all their multitude and on the seventh day god finished the work that he had done and he rested on the seventh day from all the work that he had done so god blessed the seventh day and hallowed it because on it god rested from all the work that he had done in creation these are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created thanks be to god [Music] somewhere [Music] is [Music] [Music] is [Music] when you are [Music] is [Music] [Music] is [Music] is [Music] [Music] is [Music] is so almighty god you have created the heavens and the earth and made us in your own image teach us to discern your hand in all your works and your likeness in all your children through jesus christ your son a reading from exodus as fellow drew near the israelites looked back and here we are the egyptians advancing on them in great fear the israelites cried out to the lord they said to moses was it not was it because there were no graves in egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness what have you done to us bringing us out of egypt is this not the very thing we told you in egypt let us alone and let us serve the egyptians for it would have been better for us to serve the egyptians than to die in the wilderness almost he said to the people do not be afraid stand firm and see the deliverance that the lord will accomplish for you today for the egyptians whom you see today you shall never see again the lord will fight for you and you have only to keep still then the lord said to moses why do you cry out to me tell the israelites to go forward but you lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it that the israelites may go into the sea on dry ground then i will hide in the house of the egyptians so that there we go in after them and so i will gain glory for myself over pharaoh and all his army historians and historian drivers and the egyptians shall know that i am the lord when i have gained glory for myself over pharaoh mysterious and hysteria drivers the angel of god who was going before the israelite army moved and went behind them and the pillar of cloud moved from in front of them and took his place behind them it came between the army of egypt and the army of israel and so the cloud was there with the darkness and it lit up the night and one did not come near the other all night then moses stretched out his hand over the sea the lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and turn the sea into dry land and the waters we are divided the israelites went into the sea on dry ground the waters forming a wall for them on their right and on their left the egyptians pursued and went into the sea after them all of pharaoh's pharaoh's horses chariots and chariot drivers at the morning watch the lord in the pillar of fire and cloud looked down upon the egyptian army and threw the egyptian army into panic he clogged the arterial walls so that they turned with difficulty the egyptians said let us flee from the israelites for the lord is fighting for them against egypt then the lord said to moses stretch out your hand over the sea so that the water may come back upon the egyptians upon the arterials and chariot drivers so moses stretched out his hand over the sea and adorned the sea returned to his normal death as the egyptians fled before it the lord throws the egyptians into the sea the waters returned and covered the cherries and deterior drivers the entire army of pharaoh that had followed them into the sea not one of them remained for the israelites walked on dry ground through the sea the waters forming a wall for them on their right and on their left thus the lord saved israel that day from the egyptians and israel saw the egyptians dead on the sea shore israel saw the great work that the lord did against the egyptians so the people feared the lord and believed in the lord and in his servant mercies their moses and the israelites sang this song to the lord [Music] is [Music] is [Music] is [Music] salvation [Music] is [Music] is [Music] is [Music] [Music] is [Music] is [Music] i [Music] [Music] is [Music] is lord god our redeemer who heard the cry of your people and sent your servant moses to lead them out of slavery free us from the tyranny of sin and death and by the leading of your spirit bring us to our promised land through jesus christ your son our lord a reading from the book of the prophet jeremiah the days are surely coming says the lord when i will make a new covenant with the house of israel and the house of judah it will not be like the covenants that i made with their ancestors when i took them by hand to bring them out of the land of egypt a covenant that they broke though i was their husband says the lord but this is the covenant that i will make with the house of israel after those days says the lord i will put my law within them and i will write it on their hearts and i will be their gods and they shall be my people no longer shall they teach one another or say to each other know the lord for they shall all know me from the least of them to the greatest says the lord for i will forgive their iniquity and remember their sin no more thanks be to god [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Music] is [Music] [Music] is [Music] [Music] oh [Music] you [Music] [Music] is [Music] foreign [Music] almighty god in christ you make all things new transform the poverty of our nature by the riches of your grace and in the renewal of our lives make known your heavenly glory through jesus christ your son our lord a reading from the book of prophet ezekiel the hand of the lord came upon me and he brought me out by the spirit of the lord and set me down in the middle of a valley it was full of bones he led me all around them there were very many lying in the valley and they were very dry he said to me mortal can these bones live i answered o lord god you know then he said to me prophesy to these bones and say to them o dry bones hear the word of the lord thus says the lord god to these bones i will cause breath to enter you and you shall live i will lay sinews on you and will cause flesh to come upon you and cover you with skin and put breath in you and you shall live and you shall know that i am the lord so i prophesied as i had been commanded and as i prophesied suddenly there was a noise a rattling and the bones came together bone to its bone i looked and there were sineas on them and flesh had come upon them and skin had covered them but there was no breath in them then he said to me prophesy to the breath prophesy mortal and say to the breath thus says the lord god come from the four winds o breath and breathe upon these lame that they may live prophesied as he commanded me and the breath came into them and they lived and stood on their feet a vast multitude then he said to me mortal these bones are the whole house of israel they say our bones are dried up and our hope is lost we are cut off completely therefore prophesy and say to them thus says the lord god i am going to open your graves and bring you up from your graves o my people and i will bring you back to the land of israel and you shall know that i am the lord when i open your graves and bring you up from your graves or my people i will put my spirit within you and you shall live and i will place you on your own soil then you shall know that i the lord have spoken and will act says the lord thanks be to god [Music] oh [Music] foreign [Music] is [Music] indeed [Music] nations [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] shall [Music] is [Music] me [Music] oh [Music] lord god of our salvation you speak the word to your scattered people and bring up our life from the valley of death breathe your spirit upon your church that we may live and stand before you in the confidence of your risen son jesus christ amen [Music] [Music] hallelujah christ is risen yeah [Music] life and power who through the mighty resurrection of your son overcame the old order of sin and death to make all things new in him grant that we being dead to sin and alive to you in jesus christ may reign with him in glory to whom with you and the holy spirit be praise and honor glory and might now and in all eternity amen a reading from the letter of paul to the romans do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into christ jesus were baptized into his death therefore we have been buried with him by baptism into death so that just as christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the father we too might walk in newness of life for if we have been united with him in a death like his we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed and we might no longer be enslaved to sin for whoever has died is freed from sin but if we have died with christ we believe that we will also live with him we know that christ being raised from the dead will never die again death no longer has dominion over him the death he died he died to sin once for all but the life he lives he lives to god so you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to god in christ jesus this is the word of the lord thanks be to god [Music] is is [Music] r [Music] my is [Music] hear the gospel of our lord jesus christ according to mark when the sabbath was over mary magdalene and mary the mother of james and salome bought spices so that they might go and anoint him and very early on the first day of the week when the sun had risen they went to the tomb they had been saying to one another who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb when they looked up they saw that the stone which was very large had already been rolled back as they entered the two they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side and they were alarmed but he said to them do not be alarmed you are looking for jesus of nazareth who was crucified he has been raised he is not here look there is the place they laid him but go tell his disciples and peter that he is going ahead of you to galilee there you will see him just as he told you so they went out and fled from the tomb for terror and amazement had seized them and they said nothing to anyone for they were afraid this is the gospel of the lord [Music] [Applause] as we celebrate the resurrection of our lord jesus christ from the dead we remember that through the paschal mystery we have died and been buried with him in baptism in baptism god calls us out of darkness into his marvelous light to follow christ means dying to sin and rising to new life with him therefore i ask do you reject the devil and all rebellion against god do you renounce the deceit and corruption of evil i renounce them do you repent of the sins that separate us from god and neighbor i repent of that do you turn to christ as savior i have turned to christ do you submit to christ as lord i submit to christ do you come to christ the way the truth and the life come to christ may god who has given you the desire to follow christ give you also strength to continue in the way [Music] we shall [Music] oh [Music] we [Music] is [Music] for me [Music] praise god who made heaven and earth let us give thanks to the lord our god almighty god whose son jesus christ was baptized in the river jordan we thank you for the gift of water to cleanse us and revive us we thank you that through the waters of the red sea you led your people out of slavery to freedom in the promised land we thank you that through the deep waters of death you brought your son and raised him to life in triumph bless this water that all who are washed in it may be made one with christ in his death and in his resurrection to be cleansed and delivered from all sin send your holy spirit upon all the baptized bring them to new birth in the household of faith and raise them with christ a full and eternal life for all might majesty authority and power are yours now and forever [Music] joyfully [Music] brothers and sisters i ask you to profess the faith of the church do you believe and trust in god the father i believe in god the father almighty creator of heaven and earth do you believe and trust in his son jesus christ i believe in jesus christ his only son our lord who was conceived by the holy ghost born of the virgin mary suffered under pontius pilate was crucified died and was buried he descended to the dead on the third day he rose again he ascended into heaven he is seated at the right hand of the father and he will come to judge the living and the dead do you believe and trust in the holy spirit i believe in the holy spirit the holy catholic church the communion of saints the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting um [Music] he has done more [Music] peace [Music] joyce almighty god we thank you for our fellowship in the household of faith with all who have been baptized into your name keep us faithful to our baptism and so make us ready for that day when the whole creation shall be made perfect in your son our savior jesus christ amen may christ dwell in your hearts through faith that you may be rooted and grounded in love and bring forth the fruit of the spirit the risen christ came and stood among his disciples and said peace be with you them were they glad when they saw the lord hallelujah the peace of the risen christ be always with you r [Music] [Music] lord of life with unbounded joy we offer you our sacrifice of praise as we are fed with the bread of heaven may we know your resurrection power through christ our risen lord amen the lord be with you lift up your hearts let us give thanks to the lord our god it is indeed right our duty and our joy always and everywhere to give you thanks almighty and eternal father and on this night of our redemption to celebrate with joyful hearts the memory of your wonderful works for by the mystery of his passion jesus christ your risen son has conquered the powers of death and hell and restored in men and women the image of your glory he has placed them once more in paradise and open to them the gate of life eternal and so in the joy of this passover earth and heaven resound with gladness while angels and archangels and the powers of creation sing forever the hymn of your glory [Music] accept our praises heavenly father through your son our savior jesus christ and as we follow his example and obey his command rather by the power of your holy spirit these gifts of bread and wine may be to us his body and his blood who in the same night that he was betrayed took bread and gave you thanks he broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take eat this is my body which is given for you do this in remembrance of me in the same way after supper took the cup and gave you thanks he gave it to them saying drink this all of you this is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me therefore heavenly father we remember his offering of himself made once for all upon the cross we proclaim his mighty resurrection and glorious ascension we look for the coming of your kingdom and with this bread and this cup we make the memorial of christ your son our lord great is the mystery of faith christ has died christ is risen christ will come again accept through him our great high priest this our sacrifice of thanks and praise and as we eat and drink these holy gifts in the presence of your divine majesty renew us by your spirit inspire us with your love and unite us in the body of your son jesus christ our lord through him and with him and in him in the unity of the holy spirit with all who stand before you in earth and heaven we worship you father almighty and songs of everlasting praise blessing and honor and glory as we join our prayers with the church universal so we say each in our own language the prayer that jesus taught us our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom thy will be done on earth and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for the kind is the kingdom the power and the glory forever we break this bread to share in the body of christ though we are many hallelujah christ our passover is sacrificed for us therefore let us keep the feast hallelujah [Music] as we pray during the administration of communion let us pray for the unity of the church which means in its present state that we cannot all receive this evening let us pray for christians in persecution and especially those in mozambique who suffered from the terrible attacks this week the body and blood of christ so [Music] [Music] so [Music] oh [Music] is [Music] [Music] my [Music] twice [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] god of life who for our redemption gave your only begotten son to the death of the cross and by his glorious resurrection have delivered us from the power of our enemy grant us so to die daily to sin that we may ever more live with him in the joy of his risen life through jesus christ amen almighty god we thank you for feeding us with the body and blood of your son jesus christ through him we offer you our souls and bodies to be a living sacrifice send us out in the power of your spirit to live and work to your praise hallelujah christ is risen indeed the god of peace who bought again from the dead our lord jesus that great shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant make you perfect in every good work to do his will working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight and the blessing
