writing subtitles we'll have a look at first of all what are subtitles why are subtitles important how can you start generating revenue as a subtitle writer how can you actually make subtitles and i just a huge demand of video content everyone is watching youtube videos even you are watching youtube videos right now everyone wants to consume and learn things in video but the problem is sometimes people are not able to understand what are you saying in the videos number one number two sometimes people are not switching on their audio when they are on social media platforms number three youtube videos or videos in general are a way for you to learn and consume things passively because of which people get bored and so if you were to have subtitles written at the bottom then they can be learning actively they can actively involve their brain by understanding what is happening in the video also there are a bunch of reports according to which adding subtitles to your videos lead to 25 more watch time and if you add subtitles to videos on youtube it helps you with the google indexing of the videos as well so it's good for seo it's good for retaining your audience it's a win-win for everyone now let's talk about what is the earning potential how much can you actually make as a subtitle writer in subtitles you just basically have to listen to what the person is speaking and then you need to transcribe it and you need to write down the text over there and you need to also time code it if you are creating captions so that's how subtitles really work i'm assuming that you'll work eight hours and so you would be able to make about 600 to p700 rupees every single hour with the help of this one skill now let's talk about how much can you actually charge from the client you have right so normally what happens is the normal rates in the marketer is about 50 rupees at least 50 rupees per minute of the audio that you are transcribing and the next the highest amount in india is about 150 to 200 rupees every single minute depends on how big the client is and how much can you negotiate with them so that's how much you can earn from indian clients but if you can get foreign clients people who are from us then you can make anywhere between five dollars to ten dollars for every single minute it also depends on how big the client is as i've said before so now let's take a look at the next part and that is going to be how can you write subtitles right so you have a couple of things in subtitles you have first of all translation if someone is speaking in hindi and you can convert that into english that will help them discover a new set of audience there are a ton of people who are good at understanding english but not so good at understanding hindi so that's why having this translation is important so this is one thing number two you have transcription that basically just means that you are just listening to whatever the person is saying and just typing it down and the third part is going to be captions in which you're actually writing down the time code as well so you are saying that from one minute five second to one minute 15 seconds this is what the person is speaking in the video that's what a caption is going to be we'll be focusing on captions and even translations throughout this video so how do you write it basically you can just open a txt file you can open a simple text file and then you can start writing down number one the actual sequence of the subtitle and the next thing would be the time code from which time to which time do you want this title to appear and the next part would be the actual text i will be leaving a lot of resources that you can consume to learn about how to write subtitles you can do that just by using your notepad it is completely for free you can also use youtube studio for writing subtitles that is also going to be a great way for you to trade this in less time and for free now there are paid software's as well that you can use for example i have this thing called as capping i pay about 1500 rupees per month for that software and with the help of that it will automatically create subtitles for me using ai and then i can tweak a couple of things but you can also write subtitles using the subtitle editor so that is also one way that you can do that the most important thing that you need for earning about 5000 to 6000 rupees every single day by doing this is your speed how good are you at typing right get a good keyboard attach it to your laptop attach it to your phone and start writing the subtitles and that is going to be really really important next let's take a look at how can you get clients by writing subtitles so this is going to be really really important number one try to reach out to as many youtube creators as possible try to reach out to as many people on instagram who are creating reels or other form of video content on instagram tell them the importance of creating subtitles and that way you can try to convince them you should try to follow up with them try to write effective emails and work for them for free for maybe about two to three videos and then they might say yes this is one way this is how i hired all of my you know people who have made subtitles for my videos the second way is to use online platforms there are a bunch of them you can go to fiverr you can start a gig over there you can go to you know upwork you can go to freelancer.com but there is also a specific website that you can go called as rev.com and on rev you can first of all become a transcriptionist and after that you can start getting work from that platform as well there are people who are making up to eighteen hundred dollars every single month just as a side hustle on rev.com now let's talk about the one con that i see if you are going to go into this field of writing subtitles and that is it can get monotonous it can get a little bit boring just you know writing down down the text for 8 hours straight it can take a toll on you i would personally recommend you to start with this get about you know get a good amount of money so that you can get yourself a laptop and then start learning skills using the laptop and then you can get paid even better all right make sure that you understand that the only leverage that you have is not your skill but your time you're trading your time for money and that's not the best but again if you are just lying around watching random videos on youtube if you are maybe a teenager if you are just into college if you
