hi I'm Steve Lauer I'm the trader of durable firearm finishes and owner of our custom weaponry today I am here to introduce an exciting new product something we've been waiting a long time for and that is duracal in an aerosol can Jericho is a two-part system the first part being the dura coated firearm finish itself and the second part being the dura coat hardener when the two are mixed together it creates a chemical reaction and at that point the dura chol it begins to harden and that is why we have to isolate the tool okay let's take a look at this technology this is can within a cam technology the inner can we have our dirt called hardener the outer can we have the dirt coat itself what do you say we give it a try the first item we're going to work on today is a 1911 slide I went ahead and stripped it down to call the small parts out and now I'm ready to degrease and we're going to use true strip which is another one of our manufactured products I'm going to begin by spraying the surfaces all surfaces here get it good and wet and then I'm going to also take my 3m Scotch brake pad and get that good and wet and then I'm going to start to clean and I'm going to scrub over this entire surface inside and out and get it as clean as I can I'm going to keep applying my trouthe fist allowing it to rip off here onto my paper towel all the dirt and grime will go off onto that paper towel and be contained I'm going to move over to the other side here is this good clean there's good and soaked up and just keep cleaning you can never clean too much want to get inside of all the little nooks and crannies everywhere where that brine can build up because you're not going to have good luck with your dirt coat unless you get everything clean that's the key key is the key is to get things clean and you can see the dirt falling off your stripping off onto my paper towel okay well there we go she's pretty much clean now let's move on to our next step the next thing we're going to do is activate our direct aerosol and the first thing that we have to do is is shake it good we have to shake it for about two minutes okay well that's been about two minutes so the next thing we're going to do here is pull this red button from the top of the cap and then take it and place it on this plunger right here okay so on it goes and I'm going to put down on the bench top and now I'm going to grab it firmly and I'm going to push down to the top okay there you hear that snap what's happened now is we've released our hardener into the dirt coat so the two can mix in the can now so I'm going to have to shake for another couple of minutes okay four minutes now so we can stop shaking and we're going to pop the cap off and there we have our nozzle and now it is ready to go okay now we've got our activated dirt cold aerosol and we've got our decreased part so we're ready to spray and we're going to do this in some slow smooth strokes and try to get into little nuts and trans there I got about 75% height I can just see through it so I'm going to set my can down I'm going to grab my hairdryer and what I'm going to do is I'm going to turn this hairdryer on and I'm going to blow air hot air over this surface so it's going to flash these solvents off and it will get to be a real matte dull flat look okay all the solvents are flashed off and now we'll give it another layer okay set the can down again hairdryer all solvents are flashed off again so now I'm going to go for third layer okay now we'll flash it off again hang that hairdryer back up and we'll go for a floral file layer and there you have about four layers of dirt coat on this slide and that gives us about the right mil thick as we're looking for about a mil and that's what would I put on here and you can see it's got that nice matte finish that we're looking for with the dura coat and that's it that's all that's all there is to it vertical can be used on wood plastic carbon steel stainless steel alloys etc dura coat is used by individual firearm owners gunsmiths militaries and manufacturers all over the world during coat is not just for firearms anymore dura coal can be applied to bolt water crops fishing baits compound bows bicycles lawnmowers ATVs cars trucks light fixtures plumbing fixtures etc just about anything very coat is so durable that it renders your firearm completely
