DUCK CAMP 2021. "The Movie" The long standing family tradition continues.

hello everyone and welcome back i'm heading up for the 2021 minnesota duck hunting opener this year up at duck camp i'm going up today is thursday morning usually i go on friday morning and uh my dad's going up today he's starting to get around pretty good after his hip replacement my brother chris my brother and my sister-in-law teresa will be there today and then tomorrow which is friday zachary will come up and sarah and johan so the same people will be in duck camp this year with my dad with his hip replacement i think it's right around two months or coming up on two months since he had it done so he still uses a cane i've seen him walk without one also it seems to get better every day this will be his first long trip that he's made he has not been up to the cabin yet back after this weekend he's planning on going back home and then i think next week going up to the cabin and spending a few days grocery shopping is done and i can guarantee you we will not have to hunt for food this weekend i'm on the last leg of the journey right now i don't know if chris and teresa will be up here yet i don't know if my dad will be up here yet it's 10 38 right now so they could have been i i had to wait until after it was light out to leave because uh my running lights don't work on the trailer my brake lights and turn signals do but not my runners so i had to wait till it was light out every year when i drive up here this is my 44th year in a row i always worry that they will have uh completely made this hard surface road you know or something but it pretty much stays exactly the same oh my dad is not here yet and either is chris or theresa so i'm the first one up get a rare view of where we all sit around the fire over here before it is made into a camp looks like somebody else has used it sometime during the year that's nothing that we left here oh looks like we have some free firewood there looks like somebody has burned all the wood that i had left over here and they took all the rocks out that were around the fire pit water is definitely low that fire pit down there has a lot more rocks that's where my rocks went to i'm going to take them back with me too well i guess i'll get everything unloaded off the trailer drive down here and dump off the canoe and the decoys and start setting up camp that tree used to tower so high up there and then one year we came up and it had broke off but that side branch just keeps growing i brought up my honda generator since zachary got that fixed and i'm not going to use it here at camp and i'm going to leave it on the trailer and i can start that for a couple hours a day to charge up batteries or whatever if it's needed [Music] oh [Music] [Music] wow [Music] oh [Music] uh [Music] whatever storm came through here snapped this one too but it's still got some green on it and i'm gonna leave it because this is where i hang one of the lanterns i want to keep this hanging spot it's nice for the walkway so so [Music] there we go i got the fire ring back i think i just heard my dad pull up over there i'm going to be bringing the trailer over there anyway so let's go check it out and see okay over here oh okay i don't think i'll need that over there that's about 20 minutes to one right now and i'm hungry so get a little fire going and cook some lunch quick and help dad with anything he needs with his camp and get my camp set up oh yeah so so [Music] i guess i better get this tent up no matter how long i wait today i have no kids coming up here to help me uh i dread putting it up but it sucks worse uh taking it down and at least zach and sarah will help do that [Music] [Music] so hmm [Music] uh huh well i have the actual tenth and the vestibule up i'm going to run over and help my dad with whatever he needs and then later on we'll get everything put in here all right every time i put it together i have to do it backwards a step because i forgot something there you go uh so [Music] so [Music] so i brought up an extra cot i had bought three cots for when we had the party at the house this year in case people were gonna stay over and uh i thought i'd make one up in case sarah's caught wasn't all there but luckily this one would still work but the plastic piece that holds this end has broken off so i might as well see what this new one is like it's heavier than that one [Music] pretty much the same size hmm so oh well it's a little after 4 30 in the afternoon i want to go down this i always go down this one grouse trail first see if i jump anything there hasn't been much the last couple of years i think my brother chris went hunting and i did hear a shot i don't know if it was him or not but we'll run down this one anyway i'm gonna head down this trail and i'll let you know how i do if anything when i get back i walked that trail and right when i was getting towards the end of it i did jump one grouse they're not sitting very tight though it was a ways away and i kind of saw it for a second so i walked into the woods and i suppose i had to go 100 yards and i did jump it again but i could not get a shot off in it it was real thick older slashings and i'm walking to the west and the sun is in my eyes i saw just a flash of it a couple of times but i mean i haven't jumped to grouse down that road probably two or three years so that's better than what uh i have been seeing there's one more trail here i want to try that's going to be it for today it's it's too hot out but i've jumped him on this road before so let's see what happens i'll be back shortly i didn't see any down that trail i'm gonna drive down to the boat landing where the big boats go in and look out there and see if that water if it's high or low or see if i can see the rice situation out there tomorrow we'll paddle out to our duck hunt and take a good look but just want to take a peek right now so [Music] the wood stove is real nice when it's real cold or real damp or if you have wet clothes but the little gas heater is nice especially in the morning when you're waking up just getting ready to go duck hunting you can pop that on and get a little heat and then just shut it right back down well i'm gonna grab a chair and a beer and go over to chris and theresa's camp for a little while [Laughter] we crawled outside the old man got so mad it was just bad but yeah that first year i went you had that big it was an army tent but a dark army tent so when you went in there like with the white one it's light in there but even during the day it was dark in that tent you know [Music] it was so big and tall i had a i made a barrel still four four four gas truck road paint but the tent was so big and tall i couldn't so we would wait for a flood i laughed [Music] oh yeah i remember that thing was your dad the first one to come up here well someone brought on him up here somebody brought him yeah that ted muller okay he was a handler he had at work oh okay stay i've seen that right yeah you take the shovel and cover it i've been trying to step on it so i can scatter it throughout the year he had big saw blades all around the whole entire thing big ones for bears and stuff yeah while i was up there it was from august not through october there was always something cook in there and after the hunt was over the wood being went up there till the fall in here yeah and the pit yeah all the cooking was [Music] is wow i got one that said who they're not gonna yeah i said well i didn't even pull my truck i'm just waiting for that you missed my job yeah he was over to the okay so why are you using [Laughter] that's what i'm waiting for since i'm the next for surgery so i'm expecting a cane yep yeah one moment no hey there's light stones or not well i'm just cooking up a quick little chunk of ham that i bought i got a baked potato there was a zero percent chance of rain tonight and it's starting to rain a little bit i did not put a tarp over the tent yet it's not going to happen tonight so hopefully it won't rain too much oh okay everyone well it's time for bed i will see you guys in the morning good morning everybody it rained quite a bit last night i mean i it at least sounded like it in the tent i woke up several times i woke up one time the water dripping on my head i didn't put a tarp over it because it wasn't supposed to rain so now i got the wood stove going to help kind of dry things out so far i have not saw one duck flying around yesterday this morning i'm looking out there i don't see any ducks trumpeter swans but no ducks yeah not like that now i mean it just got to hear it right up it's 2 30 and i'm outside and then the accuracy walls were hauling oh over there i didn't hear that yeah before you come right here she smoked here i got wet in there i woke up with water dripping on my head because i'm underneath the seam so i started the wood stove to get the dried out in there wasn't it oh i wonder when zach thinks he's going to be up here so i was going to see on the one branch like this and now it ain't rolled on if you want crosstalk you'd be soaked i know we're just talking about that i was thinking about going out but you don't always like more water yeah right you're just supposed to ruin anymore i don't know there's like one other green that looks like it might come over i don't know but other than that i think that's about it creations oh [Music] [Music] wow [Music] foreign [Music] i have enough firewood cut for at least a day i got some of the punky stuff i threw on the fire can just smolder away and these right here this rotted birch is good to throw on in the evening and i'll still have coals in the morning well i don't see any water coming in on the bottom so i think we're doing good i'm going to paddle out right now before lunch and check out where i duck hunt see how much rice is out there and just see what everything looks like so that's a lot of rice there's not even a well it looks like it might be a little bit more open over there i mean usually there's a path going all the way through here because i go follow this point when it's dark and then i head for between those two tall pine trees that are way over there i haven't even jumped a duck yet [Music] that water is really down most of the time when i was paddling through that if you wanted to get a full paddle like really pull into it you'd hit the ground so there's some open water here the only thing is i don't think i've ever come out here and not jumped a duck even last year was bad and i did jump a couple so just the trumpeter swans and it's illegal to shoot a swan tomorrow when i have my waders i can climb right up on top of that and pull the canoe in there this is that same piece of floating bog that i can kind of move around so not a whole lot has changed i just saw some ducks flying against there they gonna see them coming above their wood ducks from three of them four more wood ducks come right from my right side here right over me so at least there's some woodies around so so [Music] thought i could push them all out a spot canopy one of those 10 by 10 canopies all set up oh you did that's good i was thinking about bringing one up here it would have just been more crap to put in but and i didn't really have room but i bought three of them you know for that party so but i never did do that so i helped grandpa yesterday or my dad set up for his for the boxes i'm just gonna bring that out there and use those shelves you know start using those up and i've got another probably another 100 rounds of steel i mean more than that boxes of them so yeah that's kind of where i'm at too with like i have one that's kind of loose i better you always grab a fresh box because it fits in the thing so well right it's like i better kind of use these because otherwise they're just gonna sit here yeah just make sure you don't have any leather and fixed in with it basically from the stockings i've paddled out there and i didn't jump any ducks there yep there was on the way back there was three wood ducks that kind of took off over by chris and i was coming down the river here four woods came over from my right side right over the top of me over the over the cat tails but otherwise there was some a bunch of comforter swans probably 20 of them out there but i did not jump one duck i should probably see the dnr guy did oh yeah i bought that one when we lived in ramsey so i mean that's yeah that's 20 years old i suppose yeah i bought one and i got stolen from out of my garage okay the best so i start my charcoal grill gallons of gas if you need it and a tiny bit of chainsaw over here where my dad is going to sit for duck hunting tomorrow he's already been out there and made his blind area but he said that there's like three places there's a log that crosses where he walks and i'm going to go out there with a chainsaw since he's still you know just got his hip done and cut those out of the way so he has an easy walk getting out there wow [Music] [Music] wow [Music] [Music] wow [Music] now [Music] so [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] this is where my dad sits he walks back here and a lot of times the wood ducks will come right down here and just land camp is over that way so so i thought that was a tomato yeah i'm gonna take this off it's warm yeah you gotta wonder when the last time somebody walked on this was wow i wonder what thought it you know you wouldn't think that would be safe at all there no pretty low to the ground for a bird right way out there oh yeah really that one there it's pretty fresh the beaver's been chewing away [Music] [Music] that older one i want to run down one trail for grouse that i haven't been down yet now that it's friday there's a lot more traffic on the road four wheelers the utvs there's trucks on almost every single trail here use the one i'm going to here though people usually don't hunt this i'll be back in about a half hour i saw absolutely nothing and that whole walk back there everything is so perfect for gross the whole time i was thinking something was gonna jump nothing well i'm gonna give one more trail a try here this is that same one i walked yesterday that i jumped the one grouse on so we'll give it a try well nothing down that trail after paddling out twice today cutting wood splitting wood walking around i've had just about enough of today well johan showed up i was just over there and i talked to my brother chris and he did he jumped one grouse and he was out for a long time walked a bunch of trails so he didn't get a shot at it though and now johan just showed up and he's going to canoe out to where he sits and sarah won't get here until about 8 o'clock tonight i kind of want to go through and get all of my stuff ready for um duck hunting tomorrow morning because it's so much easier to do it right now when it's light out so back there probably no because the ducks usually [Music] that's the way to start it there oh there's your steak huh yeah i was gonna put a baked potato on right now on the fire so it can get done and eat in about an hour i suppose i don't know if i have to cook for sarah or not i don't know you know so until she gets here [Music] sarah's supposed to be up here at eight o'clock but i don't know if i'm supposed to cook for her tonight or not she hasn't really talked a whole lot to me so um i'll put a couple baked potatoes on and i'm not going to cook my steak until after she gets up here the tent this morning and i got that wood stove going it must have been 100 degrees in there it felt so good you know because our hair was down i mean i wasn't in there when i would go in there with a resort and him and grandma went there and he found a an old cooler and he said they used to line the coolers with paper papers like newspapers and he said the one was from 1919 right and you could buy a full fox coat like long one for uh like 13 wow wow then he said that they found old glass bottles and he said they used to be labeled like like stomach medicine but he said all it was was booze right right but yeah that's cool you don't want me looking at they had a lot of those crossbows more than the damage oh yeah the rifle they can be expensive yeah but i think they're pretty powerful too shooting time tomorrow is at 6 38. 6 38. you got to be out there at 4 30 then well i'll be out there i'm leaving at five you know them guys are leaving early too they are a lot of paddling to do you're leaving at five yeah right around five i usually try to get out of here i think that's when i try to get out of here that's why i can't i couldn't figure out was you know did you haul all the stuff there i think so okay because i think it's gonna be too large [Music] it's come trying to find a place pretty soon to be it's almost standing up like a flashlight they're going somewhere else we've had that out here too before somebody's coming you got your light going [Music] um so i go in there and i grab the sandwich i'm like this looks good roast beef and i go and i like take a bite or whatever and it tastes like the way a feed store smells [ __ ] and i ate like half and i'm like i can't do it anymore that was all i had so i remember one time i was going out to um williston north dakota to work and i think i was it was when i was pulling i was pulling a travel trailer i think it was the one that you and i stayed with the new one and i needed fuel and i thought for sure i was going to run out i mean i've never seen that was with my gas truck and it uh anyway i finally found a place and i stopped and got it i was i was hungry and i was so nervous for the last half hour cause we need to fuel so i get two of the breakfast sandwiches yeah you know because i like those and i get in and i'm driving and i take a bite you know when i'm eating one and someone's like man it tastes a little bit off open it up in this mold all over the bottom of it maybe i've told you that story before and it was like i'm not turning around with the travel trailer yeah so yeah so i didn't have any food yuck to let you finally get rid of it should work oh crap i didn't know that the batteries in those ones are going down i had no idea holy [Music] [Music] [Music] hmm sarah just went over to talk to zach to see if she's hunting with him or if she's hunting with me or whatever she had a really busy busy last few days so her getting up here was kind of rushed lucky i didn't cook before i was gonna cook and it's like well i'm sure she ate it's like well what if she didn't you know so no i know this is what i ate today a handful this this much turkey okay one corn on the cob half a cinnamon roll and then i tried to eat that sandwich [Laughter] so i didn't eat anything the stew meat yeah and then i went to grab the the metal thing yeah and it burnt right through here and oh you can't see that it was a complete mark oh i can see a little bit yeah yeah i was like oh great it hurt only for like two hours man oh that reminds me today i was um i was taking muffins out of the oven don't burn yourself do not burn yourself right i'm being so careful i take them all out if you're all on the table and everything's good and i'm like oh good i go backwards until i get out of the oven so i can close the door and i hit the stupid door and i burn myself not your shooting hand oh of course it was [Music] yep did you put butter or something in here well yeah of course i did i was looking at him like it looks like there's something in here and um i have no idea about thomas views nothing the uh hurricane now did that do any damage to actual house we don't think so we haven't been inside yet but outside of me there's a big tree down next door i mean the house was right in the eye was it really i remember you posted some pictures and it looks like stuff in hotcakes or something just they're flying away everything really and one of my artists friend came up to me she's like hey what's up like that much i haven't seen you in forever how are you she's like i'm good you need to raise your prices really like are you kidding me i'm like i just ruined frozen again she's like you need to be this thing which point that one she's like hundred bucks she's like that needs to be 150 i was like all right next one i do they're gonna go up again way of the tent there's he said like a dirt path right there and he and he said he went across there before and he thought that would be a really good spot for a stand like that and then he was like you can almost run an electrical cord to it right and so everyone back because it's probably sitting right at the bottom of the stand yeah or in the stand yeah that's i don't know why i've got turned around in there too you go in there and you take a right but and why is it so hard because there's all the rocks to the left there's like a rock cliff and then you go way down if you go over there just like shoots way to head down and i have gotten turned around and there more than one time so another uh camp and street yep yep it's like it will be for a few years i think because friday and the next year it should be on saturday and then i don't know if it'll be on sunday because it goes back again at some point but maybe a couple of years now i'm getting up at 3 55 i'll wake her up at 4 30. i'll be out of here by 5 and then yeah so sarah sarah it's 4 30 it's time to wake up [Applause] good morning everybody about 15 minutes it'll be time to head out to the duck blind so sarah it's 4 42 it's time to wake up good morning i did not set an alarm i forgot i was surprised all right guys good luck so well i made it now we just sit here and listen to the boats and see how many people come out and hope that in about an hour there'll be some ducks well i guess a little bit more than an hour we can shoot at 6 38. i brought this little led light out here it's hard to see with that lands like that but that's the little lighthouse because when the kids come up here when they see my light they kind of know where to start turning to the right there goes sarah and zach so oh this has definitely been the slowest opener oh there's a flock of geese way over there anyway like i was saying this has been the slowest opener i think i've shot five shells i've got one duck and for once if i would have hit everything i shot at i would not have had my limit i mean it's only eight o'clock in the morning right now and it's just pretty much dead there'll be a few stragglers coming in when uh people start going back to the boat landing but looks like chris already left his stand but he might have fell down he shot quite a few times back there about a half hour ago there was a flock of ducks that come in here and they were really a dark duck and i don't know what they were if they were ring bills and they come in real low and they were you know just if they're right at the edge of my range i will let them go in here and then circle around theresa might shoot at him chris might shoot at him johann but i think johan is over i think he went behind over there and then i'll get a better shot when they come back out they went in i'm waiting i'm waiting no shooting no nothing no ducks came out i don't know where they went i'm going to ask chris and teresa later if they saw him and what happened to him how did you guys do that was my second time shooting really i thought who was doing all the shooting over there on that point again oh really yeah even then they didn't shoot as much as they normally no this was the slowest opener i've seen in a long time it really was i mean i shot one dock right there did you you know i don't think i shot five six times total today so yeah yeah it wasn't much yeah there's a couple batches that came but it was such a weird angle it was like if they would have came right up above the cat tails right here so it's like if you could have seen them it would have been a really easy shot but they were like low and they just go like that you know who was shooting at the geese that was those people oh it was they it's surprising how far to the left they are from me because i mean they were like way over here when they were getting shot at and it's like oh sky busting i would have sky busted at those two though i mean when i see them they unwrapped them and i heard them loading three and a half did they yeah i don't know if theresa shot i think johan went back in the back part i thought it was my dad's shooting it's like wow he's getting a lot of shooting but i bet you that was johan oh yeah so yeah yeah definitely slow i thought for sure there'd be a few stragglers there was one flock that come in of dark ducks i don't know if they were ring bills or what coming real low and i'm just waiting it's like they were just out of range i could have popped at them but i thought i'm going to wait because usually they'll go in there and circle and then when they come back this way they come more toward me nobody shot never saw where the ducks went i watched chris go over here going over to where theresa was never jumped them it's like where did the ducks go and then when you guys were coming there was one wood it flew i was going to try to just scrape it you know i wanted that coot man but he wanted it i don't care at this point there was one duck that was over there and he was just looking at me for a long time it must be a diver you know and it was quite a ways out then it swam across and i watched and i grabbed this camera and took it off the tripod and i zoomed in on it it was a duck duck i probably would have tried for it you know it would have been just at the far i don't have any of my three and a half's in with me but yeah slow morning female wood duck [Applause] so so it just you know all right [Music] okay yeah that was probably the slowest opener ever yeah that i can remember so ever all right come on boys let's go come on come on oh we gotta make a fire i gotta see the waiters off right sitting there and they come about this far off the water behind me [Laughter] did i only shot like five or six times i got one duck so one female woody um yeah uh zackton yeah you already talked to him yeah he didn't get anything and sarah didn't it was just slow it really was [Music] right usually about two minutes before and everybody starts shooting yeah i missed the old kind of these when i was a kid that had the little thing you break off the back and then you twist off the top i remember seeing those yeah i'm just going to start the stove it just feels a little damp in here it's kind of damp outside so i'll warm it up in here and everything will seem nice and dry well i'm going to go over and start the generator and get all this stuff plugged in so we can charge up and then i'm going to get that duct cleaned so i can get that in the cooler i like to get one more two ducks to be a nice little meal for melissa and i if you had them sitting in the same spot every year you could you could have put pores on your forearm we were just talking about how we never see teal that was there i mean some i should have filled out right away it's just stupid some of those shots were just ridiculous i even scraped one and missed it did you really but it took off i shot and it and it took off and it was right going right with the rice and it was too dark i couldn't you know couldn't see to get a second shot right i was hoping maybe it would go up a little bit so i could see it but yeah how did johan do yeah how did he do i have no idea last year he had yeah oh i didn't know that last time i heard he had zero he shot a bunch and had zero huh i thought that was after that because i don't know i was in the woods i thought i thought it was dad shooting and then later on i remembered oh that's right johan was talking about going back in there it's like man dad's getting all the shooting you know did he get anything no he said he's seen one like 15 minutes before opening and that was it and that wasn't bad going over the race or you know going over stuff like it's have you heard of the dresden files no okay yeah it's like uh yep i'm super popular i just love the first book you should text that to me yeah sure so i have cause how many are in the series oh man i think it's like over ten now oh that's good yep text that to me so i have it yeah because i need a series okay for when i get my [ __ ] hip done oh what is that december 10th oh scary i think are you excited for it i might chicken out and not do it yeah well it's hurting isn't it yeah but still yeah i don't never had surgery before oh yeah i'm afraid to be put under you have you ever been put under i put under for my wisdom teeth it's pretty it's pretty like they just are like count down from 10 and you make it to 8. really yeah it's like and then it's just like and then you're awake again at least for me it was because i'm not having a spinal they have to do general yeah so and let's go no we're done with that all right i'm leaving come on get your stick chronos let's go don't forget to have him text me that series oh yeah i will [Music] [Music] these brats aren't that good yeah they're like okay they're like fatty too fatty they're telling that story i was in illinois for fourth of july one of the people there was like oh man we got we got hot dogs we got hamburgers and i brought brats i'm like oh i can go for a brat i kid you now to go out there it's a hot dog it's just another hot dog i'm like are you kidding me right it's kind of how these are too yeah but that at least looks like a bra this thing is just a hot dog was it yeah did you guys have lunch over there yeah grandpa had a couple burgers and some chips i had a couple it was better with cheddar thing [Music] about this traveling stories you should have had your camera going it was in the tent there's no way i could get away it's all right i got him i got him upstairs don't remember him but we all know you don't have very much up there oh i got left or grabbed was it like his hunting ones or like his places he went yeah when he went to like mexico and south america and took a dug-out canoe to a village and really all sorts of cool stuff can you go to a shooting range and they shoot it like this way you can do a ski yeah yeah i think all of them probably have that now because so many people do like sporting plays and stuff that would be a good thing to do back behind vector yeah wild marsh sporting place zachary and sarah went out uh grouse hunting and my brother chris is out grouse hunting i think teresa is she's gonna blaze a trail going all the way out to the point beyond where my dad sits ah because she wants to sit there tomorrow so i'm gonna go find a grouse trail and walk it if there's not somebody on it there has been a lot of four-wheeler and side-by-side uh traffic going back today there's a lot of people up here i just walked this trail years ago when when they had first kind of put this road in and i don't know i think it was like a gravel pit or something because there's a little pond back there that's dried up now we actually deer hunted back there so i put on my once i got all the way out there i don't think i've ever went that far on this trail and really there are parts of it that you can't even tell are a trail anymore but uh i went 1.26 miles in and then came back i didn't want to go in it was really thick back there i didn't want to go any farther you know you have to come back so that was a good long john oh i did not jump any gross on the way in on the way out i was just coming along i stopped for a little bit and i heard one take off and i i there's no way i could see it there was way too many leaves but uh yeah i did hear one gross well i went over and talked to chris and teresa and johan and they walked way back on that one trail and they were on and they did not jump one gross i want to go see what uh sarah and zach have to say if they saw anything or not oh you did huh yeah even the area back there tons of beer sign is that the trailer you go in and then you go to the left and it was logged out and then you can also go to the right or is that the one where you walk in and it's all oh yeah and then there's a trail that goes that's the one where we used to cut down to go into that secret spot for ducks the one over here or no you guys went to the one where you walk in and it just ends in like a field yeah yeah i mean just last year they cut that field down again because there was a bunch of stuff going on oh it wasn't that one it was i know that one so it was the other one you went and almost took to a y and it went this way and then it was a smaller field it wasn't even that it was like it was a dirt pack and all around it was like poplar trees like i don't know and it's just like that's all it was so we're like oh this guy comes with your path yeah that's a long haul i remember going doing that once with dad and then we split up because there's a when you go down there there's like and i went to the right that's the only time only it was twice up here that i've got turned around but i got lost that time didn't know where i was where i got almost like a panic and the worst part is i was going down that finger that goes so if i went on this side i saw the bay and in my head we were just by the point of the big lake i was seeing the big lake on that side and then once you do that you don't know which is which so i didn't know where to go oh and eventually i made it back out again i remember you saying where were you you know the big deal but you and i got lost up here yeah that was going down that deer hunting road on the right side i mean it's like we couldn't have been more than 30 feet from the road but just got turned around and then you don't believe your compass when you should you know or you think oh something's wrong with the compass and that's where you screw up as soon as we follow the compass we just pop right out yeah we those people were shooting at those ducks out there until we looked at the time and because they shot and chris was like oh you're cutting it close and then i looked it up and it was 706 and sunset was 707. wow and there wasn't a shot after that [Music] they were getting them then if i would have known that we could hunt till dark i would have went out there today never in my life have has it not been four o'clock on opener i mean i've hunted many times for ducks when you could you know two weeks later could hunt till dark but even then you usually only do more but anyway i go to him he'd be like yeah he'd be like um you can buy this stock all you have to do is put down 10 bucks for this 100 stock they'll provide the other 90 bucks but if the stock goes down in value you have to pay back that other ninety dollars well what's up they're just going up and up so all these people are like here's your ten bucks cool i'm making my money and then it crashed and all those people lost everything no real money behind you right they didn't have money to pay the whatever they owed you know so that was back when all that was looking at the fighters too dangerous no really them [Music] real slow today we got uh you guys didn't shoot anything he didn't i shot one nothing like usual okay any birds in camp here or sure take a look at them also let's see has anybody's than you get many did you just go all over it's been kind of slow everywhere yeah how about where i was but i haven't heard a shot all day no girl something's been pretty slow too yeah yeah i haven't seen a whole lot is that the one you got or so are all these camps is everybody all together yeah we're all one group so yeah this is the one since 50 1957 so oh well that's a long time appreciate that yep thank you missing and i figured i was the federal duck stamp i had a thought go through my mind i'm like what if i just didn't get it they never are there to check it right this would have been the time you know i'm glad i got it were you with me in the boat when they checked us in the boat i know but you told me about it yeah came right up and checked me right in the duckline and the thing is that's how i it should [Music] we'll come up with something i don't want to see what i got around what are you going to eat me yeah finally got it she's a little slower today oh we got checked by the dnr tonight they used to come by almost every year and stop and talk to us and see how things were going because it must have been like the same people and now they haven't stopped for a few years so it's like when you pay that much money for license it's nice when they stop by and everything is legal and he was on his way somebody on the channel sent me everglades seasoning have you ever heard of that never it's pretty good it has some i don't know what the over towering seasoning is yeah but it's not bad we've used it a couple of times and i think when we did steaks one time and melissa asked for that again instead of using the johnny's so it was pretty good what if the main ingredient was like pineapples i wouldn't eat it then because that would remind me of an ipa beer which sucks [Music] two and then they shot two more and then the two that i think of the first two that he shot they were fighting and he and he had the picture which one brought one home before my dad brought one in this one there's only one mountain he said that they had all right i said him and ernie divvied it up so maybe he got more meat only wanted one set horse maybe there was me out maybe there was could have been maybe they weren't all ernie got a moose but it was small oh yeah all 355 comes pretty early in the morning it's time for bed so low setting last night good uh yeah i didn't get cold or anything hmm [Music] sarah sarah it's 4 30. it's time to wake up so good morning everybody it's almost time to head out to the duck blind sarah it's 4 45 it's time to wake up you sleep good yeah i don't know yeah they don't seem so gung-ho to get down there today so even well yeah but even yesterday didn't seem like there's many people no oh never goes [Music] good luck what time you guys go gonna pick up my decoys and head back in i don't know where these guys are headed but they're not going to make it very far with the motor looks like they're turning around and leaving get any shooting what get any shooting in uh about the same as yesterday oh really yeah did you get anything no no i should have shot there was one i don't know how i missed but i shot three times like this like die die die and it wouldn't go and there was a couple that come pretty close over you know that i that were just right over my head and it was like there i didn't even see them coming yeah yeah normally they really shoot a lot yeah it was just really slow i figured eight o'clock was a good time to leave especially after that boat goes by you know i was ready to go at about 7 30 but i was looking at the coots and salivating and they didn't even come over that's how bad it is [Laughter] yeah it's slow i wonder if in a couple weeks if they'll start more of them will be migrating i mean i didn't see one ring bill this morning there was some teal there's one woody but yeah it was just dead and i actually heard more of them whistling coming in this morning you know i didn't hear that yesterday but it didn't matter yeah so this year if i would have shot hit everything i shot at i would have not even i wouldn't have filled out isn't that weird yeah there was a couple that landed over here well let's go back and break camp huh [Applause] [Applause] so [Applause] yeah it didn't take him long to get rid of all that stuff did so there's a lot in there [Music] so yeah we could use a new one it's getting there yeah how many years have you gotten out of this oh man i don't know when i bought this this is well i mean when you were kid we were in the back of the truck and then we did yeah then we did the tent on top of the trailer yep and then i bought this so you could been more than i didn't think it was up here very long before you got it right if you had to help put a
