all right I think we're almost ready just gonna pop it in we gotta act fast this is the scary moment if you guys have to run I understand okay oh my gosh this is nerve-racking I got it put it up there pop the nest in and close it and run here we go Oh Lord this is not this is not easy this is not easy at all oh my gosh the nerves okay we're going oh my gosh they're really upset I don't know how to do this there's so many this is day two planned to yesterday we tried to tame the wasps by using honey and putting them into a container with our finger but I got stung and it was really slow we got to almost three wasps but there's like 30 more left so plan to is using dry ice to chill the wasps so that we can harvest them all together so I have two glasses of water here we're just gonna experiment a little bit I'm gonna put the dry ice in right now and if you'll see this is our nest today they're actually a little bit warmer so there are even more aggressive which will make this a pretty nice challenge so here we go put the dry ice in the water like so see that steam oh I'm gonna pour some of the water out that steam is what we want that smoke is is nice and cool we want to cool them up all right here they are let's hope this works so the wind is kind of making this hard but we'll give it a try so if you get a good shot of the nest here take a look at the nest the wind oh dear they're getting pretty upset here we just got to ease it in you know I'm saying of course the wind is making a pocket of air and it's protecting them ever gonna do this here we go I don't know how well we're cooling them off I think it's working they're getting really upset but seems to be doing something I think we need a little bit more water we got some hot water this should be a little better oh yes okay we got to act fast here we go let's do this thing come look up close yeah they're getting mad they're getting mad but they're too confused to fly off the nest yeah looking they're close guys we're smoking them out this should chill them down so that when I grab the whole nest they don't attack this should be too chilled to fly that's what I'm hoping so here we go I can already tell they're getting slower and take a good close look in there guys this is I don't know if you can't see cuz there's so much oh wonderful on my neck look at it flew away one more one flew in my neck but we're good we're good it didn't sting me so okay now we're gonna pour out the cold water if you look down here pouring out the cold water pour in some more hot water get it going again we gotta act faster a little warm back up don't touch it with your bare hand bare hands yourself okay here we go oh yeah okay this should be doing something folks I think right I think we're almost ready here we go now the plan is to get a jar and just pop the whole nest in the jar this is brilliant all right okay there we go I'm just gonna pop it in we gotta act fast this is the scary moment if you guys this there's so many okay have any clothes here come over here come over here okay you can't see but you can hear I have the whole nest in there and a lot of the workers a lot of the wasps you can maybe see them yeah there we go we got a lot in the chilling process I don't know if it worked too well they are raging but it was pretty much a mission success a lot of them escaped but they'll probably be coming back to the nest point and we can catch them later but I'd say we got a good number in here pretty well all right so right away a couple came back and so here's a third one I'm gonna try to catch them in this container here really quick Oh crud here let's do it again cuz that was not dangerous at all just stung me on the chin oh just stung me on the chin it's okay it's okay ah okay Wow Wow do that again now we're gonna be content with what we have okay okay now the challenge is separating the wasps from their nest because the nest isn't here as well I need to attach the nest to their new habitat and in order for me to do that I need to separate them so what I'm gonna do is put them in the refrigerator just for a few minutes and show them down because right now they're really aggressive okay it's been 10 minutes in the fridge and now what we're gonna do is look inside so now they're pretty chill but they're coming out anything okay this is not working this is not working at all I managed to catch most of them but a couple are still on the window that's okay I'll just have to catch them later I put them back in the fridge for a while to help make them a little more docile I thought while I wait what a better way to pass my time than to practice picking up the nest with these drumsticks from within the containers so in this scenario this ball of string is the nest I'm just gonna practice picking it up so there it is here we go so the key is I'm going to reach into the container and pull up a nest and as I pull it out there will be wasps on it okay there will be watch this and hopefully they'll be docile enough to just put them back into the container after I take the nest out so here we go there's never one for chopsticks this is actually exactly what looks like me using chopsticks so I reach in and bam retrieve the nest okay I think we're ready okay here we go all right so there are a lot on the nest I'm just trying to have me want to show you guys this take a look all right so it's a lot on the nest but I'm just kind of shoving them off I got to do this quick I hope you guys can see I got to do this quick because they're warming up really quickly as soon as they warm up they're gonna start scaping and flying it's gonna be terrible it's already 1:00 trying to get out okay I'm gonna have to use both my hands for this [Applause] BAM practice on fruit excuse the practice pays off but Mina alright okay this is not so smart huh okay let's run up here no problem okay here we go we're good look good come on back in you guys seeing this there's a good amount on the nest still but they're so docile it's gonna work out oh yeah we now have a wasp free next now I just got to attach it to the habitat and as you guys can see the wasps are so still pretty docile however I'm going to put the cap back on take a look at this beauty you can see eggs in there you can see larvae and the white caps are larvae that are turning into wasps they've capped themselves off and similar to a butterfly or a caterpillar turning into a chrysalis to become a butterfly these larvae are turning into wasps I'm going to apply a light layer of silicone on to the nest and now I'm going to attach it to the bottom of this container which will eventually be the top because I'm going to have the nest up on the top of there and the lid on the bottom so that I can unscrew it and put food in there while the wasps are all chilling up top all righty they are being introduced to their new home now it's October here so the next video will be about how I'm going to turn these into contained environments so that the wasps will be able to survive the winter I'm also going to use these to raise other insects and small animals it's going to be able to maintain the temperature and humidity so that no matter what temperature it is outside I can make my own artificial environment for them thanks for watching guys tune in soon to see how the
