hey guys what's up so today I'm gonna be doing something a little different mm-hmm I'm just getting more popular with all kinds of species what I'm gonna do today is I'm gonna drop shot four giant blue gills and I'm sure you know if you haven't heard or drop shot you know you can check this out um go do a youtube search of drop shot videos a lot of people drop shot bass and stuff but it works for other species too and like there's different types of drop shot weights here's the one we'll be using the day wait this guy is there's different weights you know use bigger weights for deeper water so on and so forth and then what I like to use like this is a size 4 Aberdeen hook you want I prefer something with a nice long shank that way when your drop shotting cuz this hook you know directly sits you know straight out in the fish come and they bite onto it well if you have a short hook you know this line is up and down you don't want them getting that line you want a nice long hook so they can grab onto that and the good news about drop-shotting I mean you can set you can set this weight or this hook any depth you want so I'm actually using a polymer not is my favorite not to use so you're tying but pretty much a long a long keg and depending on where you're at look up palm or not if you guys don't know how to how to tie one there's different ways to do it but I'm just gonna tie a Palomar knot here alright after you tie your polymer not you look your hook should be standing straight out at a 90 degree angle that's you on so the fish can come right up and bite on it you see I got two feet of line out here and then your drop shot weight you know you just put your line through here and give it a little tug up and it'll snap on there we go got my little drop shot on there and there we go my hook I'm probably two two and a half feet something to go with a lot of these fish are that far off the bottom I'm gonna get this out there get a leech or crawler on it and try and get us some big gills [Music] [Music] [Music] alright guys got this hook here I'm gonna hook this leech right in the back sucker here girls are gonna come up bite onto that hopefully we'll see now this like a awesome technique for getting right on top of fish you know if you're going and all sudden you know you see actually there were some fish on the graph here mmm you see fish on the graph you literally drop this drop shot down and what's happening is that weight is sitting on the bottom and essentially what you're doing is you're you're you're keep your trying to keep consistent contact at the bottom while jiggling this and it's going to make that leech you can actually see that leech John they're just swimming and then come up and hit that thing yes right here yeah banging banging it's nice pot of fish now here's a big bluegill that's a nice one see that long a nice long shank get some break by the tip of the nose big fish quite a few fish oh dear God the leech is still looking like he's ready what do you guys think huh drop shot back down there there's a pile of fish down there yeah connection bottom there's there's already fish on it already a fish on it that thing hit bottom I didn't have to wait for it to feel like a decent fish oh yeah it is no it's a real nice fishery dear another one right by the SH note yeah I'll be there yeah get him right by the nose like there that's why I love the drop shot you know right back down there make connection with bottom there we go oh it's ready fish on it that's what's so nice about this drop shot you can target what range you want to try to catch these fish at you know if they're if they're 5 feet off the bottom I mean you can set your drop shot 5 feet off the bottom if you wanted to how these blue gills are just like a silver screen is goldish awesomeness most important thing you're doing you know when you're fishing this drop shot it's absolutely keeping very close contact with the bottom that keeps your tip your line tight so your hooks not moving around so on and so forth oh that's real nice on there that's Jillian oh gosh absent on key go oh my gosh here we go fish all right yeah so you're making consistent contact with the bottom they keep your line tight it keeps that that leach out there and swimming and it really entices that fish to bite me that was any marketing fish that time so hard I need to get some spa and get spa time for this on this old trailer out rock this is an absolute blast you guys giant blue gills unalloyed rods drop shotting that's a big fish my drop-shot got a little kangaroo there may be huge fish Oh what out so drop shotting for big blue eels that was a blast you know drop shotting it's you know it's it's mostly a bass technique but I mean you can use it for all kinds and the best part about drop-shotting I mentioned on the video somewhere is the fact that you know here's my tungsten drop shot right here here you know two and a half maybe three feet above it is my hook so when I and will you know making contact with the bottom this is just sitting here you know wholly on the bottom and this hook is this twitching just twitch it my rod dragging this along the ball at the bottom and now I know after looking at my unit the majority is Fisher you know two feet off the bottom and bluegills they always feed up you know a foot so if I long ago keep in constant contact with the bottom is keeping that bait three feet off the bottom versus and you could do it for anything I mean you you seen crappies you know six feet off a bottom or something you could move it up two more feet and put a fat head on here I mean it's a just a very versatile setup yeah anyway a little bit using my tune-up custom rod seven foot two apex elite actually it does just this is just DX version you can get the elite version online PC fun carbon x1000 real six pound test line I've used this for all kinds of stuff you got to seem use it for everything all spring I talked about my Clement a lot right the other video but this rods amazing seven foot two this thing will handle the load I mean big crappie big sunfish anyway long shake Aberdeen hook on this drop shot man that's very important to place it you if you got a blue heeler something sitting up there you know and they want to bite onto this book you know you don't want a short hook for there and walk into the line you want a long shank where they can swim up suck that hook in and now they got just tip the shank sticking out of their mouth you seen probably on a lot of new girls they took off their hook raise tip the lip there I was using leeches and I switch the crawlers they all work fantastic anyway hope you guys loved this video please like share subscribe share this video i all your guys support just trying to get these videos out I work full-time during the summer a little bit harder in wintertime anyways we're headed to 30k baby thanks for watching [Music] [Music] [Music]
