Giving this OLD and GROSS porch a BIG MAKEOVER! 🪴

celebrate the warmer temperatures and The Great  Outdoors and this lanai is well gross so we pulled   out the wall the wall carpet completely redid  the floors and windows and added some built-in   shelves dressed up these brick columns with some  beautiful faux Coral it's actually made from a   mold oh my gosh really glad that Joy's in this  outfit to just just to pose and we covered the   cement with inexpensive travertine tiles you  can see the theme we're going for right this   is a Lanai on a beautiful island and we need  to bring that Lush Island Vibe into this   space Joey what this needs to go in a shelf  what found off yes this is a working mother   right here so here we are ready to decorate  outside Timber I think you're going to love   this reveal and hopefully get some ideas  for your own spring and summer decorate [Music] Adventures can't wait to renovate there's no  time to go on dates how will it turn out OMG   we bought house on an island wait what it's  our dream home hopefully mom someone that door coming so what's the plan what's the plan got  a blank slate here with the prettiest columns   ever I'm yeah these did turn out really well  so happy with how these turn out these are deck   lights so these are normally used on like deck  stairs but we're we we got crafty with them and   behind this Coral veneer there's a channel back  here if we ever need to change these out but   they look really good and they they cast like  a really cool downlight on them and they're on   low voltage so low voltage is like landscape  lighting the things that can just be kind of   like ambient and on and that's what these are  wired to so these basically are just on every   night they're on a timer and they just cast  like a nice little you know muted glow it's   not like a big bright in your face white okay  so what are we doing okay so in our renovation   still working on getting a window by the way yeah  this is Joey's beautiful custom PLU glass window   temporary so we use the countertop material all  the way through here on this window still because   the idea is that this is a pass through window  the kitchen's just right on the other side here's   our lenai and as you guys saw in our living room  transformation which if you haven't seen that go   check it out you see that we have a living room  with a coffee table and there's the island with   the stools but there's no like dining table that's  where this comes in that's one of the best parts   about living in Hawaii is we literally eat every  meal outside outside doesn't matter what time of   year it is the pass through window is like the  idea of This indoor outdoor living you fit you   know fix your plates pop them on this ledge the  Windows like already popped up you come out here   you're able to eat somewhere around here when  you're done you kind of Stack the plates over   there when we get a window it is not easy to get  things in Hawaii it is not and especially like   custom things okay so how do we lay out space we  need to prioritize the dining table maybe if we   can work in also some Lounge stuff that would  be cool but we're really prioritizing dining   got it got it are those your um heavy furniture  moving shoes yep heavy duty definitely not OSHA   approved Offroad pom poms we're going to put  a rug down it's a gorgeous Moroccan blue it's   handmade it's wool the Lai is totally covered  we have very long eaves on this house this is   where the rug will be and all the way here are  the end of the rafter because I know there's   going to be questions what about rain these rugs  are not going to get wet just thank you for your concern love this rug wool is actually really a  good material see the eaves right there like   on this side yeah cuz this is our like highest  piece y I wouldn't want to put dining here and   then Lounge there and so when you're like looking  at it it's like looks like it's hidden right look   at this table first of all beautiful my favorite  thing about this table it's big belly some thick thighs we're going with muted because the rug is a   Cookie Monster Joey you remember this  do you remember this do you remember this when I decorated a room all by myself  and covered a surb fored wallpaper it looks   still so fun well so we we turned that  room into storage for ourselves now that   we're done with this house so now we have  that surfboard that we can use out here   okay so we've got these as an option I mean  there's plenty of room for it well here's   the thing we always like a little rug area  because we have a child it ends up being a   place where he's playing and there's toys and  whatever so I'm just trying to max out this   lenai for our use oh look at this look  at that that's a this is he has so much personality makes it a little hard to sit in this  chair yeah well you know what we're just hting oh   we have that Big Money Tree you want money yeah  where do you want the money in the [Music] corner   this your plant collection right here this my  plant collection nice all of these plants we have   potted in ceramic pots because as I'm learning  I'm learning guys putting it in plastic pots   is not a good idea ceramic pots are way better  because they help regulate the moisture content   in the soil so if there's a lot of moisture  in the soil it can like kind of absorb it Wick   it away or if the plant needs more moisture it  can soak it back in from the clay so they kind   of work symbiotically and plastic is obviously  suffocating and just bad in general so oh yeah so sculptural this is just a  little side table little bit of [Music] wood you really want to make that one  work huh Joey it's the coolest one I know but   it's so unruly so I Joey okay so I have a plan  for these shelves I've got to go pick up moon   for school but later we going to get these  shelves done and I have a plan to use some   of the wood from the dead tree and I also have  let me just show you hang on look tray full of   airplants you said it what's that it's a Mis  bottle wait do that again you're supposed to   to mist them when they look dry and give them a  little soak like actually like put their Roots   into a thing of water like give them a little  soak I'm learning okay so any tips I will take   all right this tree is getting pruned or cut  down obviously it's not doing well compared to   everything else but but also we're going to make  nature wands using sticks so it's also grabbing   craft supplies for us all right chainsaw  is oh gosh look at this monkey I'm glad   you're wearing your safety glasses though baby  that's smart here it comes here it comes here it comes okay we're going to use this Branch I'll  catch that one to decorate with here come Timber [Music] oh three four five can  I just pick six because I have   so many like this one that's those  sticks here okay that's good come   pick a flower bundle and like two  or three feathers that you like okay can I keep this one for me for myself this  one yeah let's put it on your wand if like we do   this and then we use the thread and stuff to wrap  then we can add like so if I give you the yarn and   you can wrap the yarn around your stick okay and  then we can use these like a felt color as the   handle you know this is the fire wand look here's  your handle right and then everyone can pick out   their little on C their little sprig for the for  the top yeah you can piece off how nice set it out   you got you know how to pull a little piece off I  love this is like a fire wand with this bouet Co   yeah Mi look pretty look it does look like a flame  doesn't it no I can't do this for every kid but   why not because it's you're going to be your whole  class we're making these with oh but look how cool here R the last bit of it so that when  I look exes I know look how cool moon this is   a good idea to add this color okay look I'm  going to tie this one to this one to end it   off nature one gorgeous oh and n's going to  make little I'm going to make little pouches   little pouches out of felt oh cute with like  little straps mhm Moon look how good this looks   you're so cute so this is Moon's nature wand we  just made we're going to do this as a project   with Moon's kindergarten class sticks felt  yarn hemp thread feathers and dried [Music] [Music] flowers all right so we've got this  tray full of airplants from our friend these   are found airplants there's so many of them  I want to figure out a way to display these   on our beautiful shelves and I'm thinking maybe  we use some of this old tree that Joey cut down   DIY I think so like if we kind of do like little  like things like that like if I drill slightly   bigger holes too I want those shelves to be like  an homage to Nature and like the found things   around here our Driftwood some of the little like  rocks and seashells and things that Moon's picked up I feel like the chainsaw would  be easier oh the saw sounds like   it's struggling yeah all watch your hand okay I'm going to get the  chainsaw let's see if that work now now abort abort [Music] abort a jeez Lise all right now I'm just  going to widle in a face yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah   get away come here okay oh the Carnage so the  first step is we picked the area of the log that   had the most personality maybe some little knots  and things to insert the airplant and then Joey   used his wonderful sawing skills to cut a flat  base on it so it'll sit nice and secure on the   shelf or in the middle of the table wherever you  want to put it and now I am using a big huge drill   bit to create some little holes along the log  to our AR istically place the airplants around   I think it's going to be super cute and so easy  and cost us about this much just a little bit of [Music] this oh my gosh look at these  little T it's a baby Bitty Baby [Music] let's put it on the [Music] show this is a piece from the  Shelf in the bathroom the foot   shelf coconut from the [Music]  beach how cool is this [Music] guy [Music] living Bippity bity living [Music] Shelf do you guys remember what this looked  like before it was wall to wall [Music] [Music] carpeted [Music] a [Applause] [Music] let's toast I love it so much I love it so much  this is the Outdoor vibe that I am so excited   to
