here we are we're looking at the 1971 ferrari detourner and the gentleman here is going to give you a quick tour of it yeah so uh 1971 cannonball daytona there's only one this is the one that best all-arounder driver good friend of brock yates at the time kirk white uh exotic car dealer of the time also racing was the owner of the car who loaned it to these two what do you call them uh scuffle scofflaws to go out and have an adventure after brock and his team had recon the route 1971 cannonball winner because it goes 172 miles an hour according to dangerous but at no time did they go over 175 miles per hour and now this car is shaped like a wing it won't go much faster than 172 miles per hour because after that it begins to fly and that's the truth whatever that's because there's a columbo v12 motor underneath here that makes well in this case over 400 horsepower because this car has been massaged by holmen and moody to be probably one of the best performing v12s of any daytona in the world yes i'm a bit of a bragger about that but when you get the opportunity to handle a car like this things go to your head a little bit would you like to see inside i'd love to see inside that'll be fantastic so for the record the first 18 hours right here is where brocky sat gurney took the first 18 hours and did not uh give the seat up until he felt that he really needed to get some rest gurney being a tall man six foot four i think he was in the story in the in the cannonball book they said he fit comfortably in this car whereas most times when he was driving in a race car he pretty much sat with one butt cheek raised up in the air and his head cocked a little bit to the side so they could fit him and his helmet in a car you probably also heard of cars that had the gurney bubble in them which were a little uh thing and a bubble at the top of a car that allowed gurney to fit comfortably in a race car again best all-around eraser at the time uh look up his accomplishments if you don't know them and i mean generally gentlemen of a man throughout one of the great friends of the owner of this car as well as brocade it's a great friend so the driver's take note on the back here or cannonball plate this has been on the car for an eternally uh general order of police trying to get a little bit of respect when the car is being driven because most of the time this cars might be driven and i'm not admitting to anything but it might be driven at speeds that might be over the posted limit especially if that limit is 55 okay uh kirkwood motorcars stickers on here reapplied properly due to historic photos 20 year old tires this is the seat that gurney sat in this is the seat that i sat in the last couple days and believe me i love hashtag just doing my job has an awesome horn in it the interior is all original as far as i know the car was restored uh in the late 1980s by a previous owner who basically you know fixed up the body went through the motor drivetrain suspension and everything because the car had been driven the way that you would you like to see the motor that would be fantastic nice solid click on that lever ta-da now this is not the original motor because over time kirk white had robbed parts from the columbo v12 motor that was in the daytona at the time for his race car and eventually that race car got sold uh he took the motor out of that race car put it back in the daytona and that motor was the one that was tuned by holman moody to get an extra 40 50 horsepower out of it and a few extra revs torque whatever this is like i said the best running highest performance daytona motor that you will probably ever come across in this documentation the only things that aren't original here in the engine bay except for the motor itself obviously the filters have dates on them from last time those were changed the battery has been updated as batteries fail over time but this thing fires right up would you like to hear the car start i would love to hear the car stuff the best for last except for when i take my shirt off no we're not going there that costs extra well the music played in the background will probably do that okay yeah i am a bit bold so if i was asked to i probably would but i don't want you to get that many likes from those kind of people all right ready one two oh wow it's kind of heart starting that should stir you someone one of the most beautiful sounds in the world the ferrari v12 yes quad cab colombo border just an amazing thing one of the things i would have to do every time i get in this car to drive it as i say dog leg oh you're cool because otherwise those bad things can happen if you do not remind yourself of the fact that there's a dog leg woke up especially the car as expensive is this one exactly that grinding sound actually hurts when it happens and it's very particular there's no lockout so if you did the wrong thing it will go right into reverse and then you
