either I'm Peter Minard and this is 10 minute workshop we're at 10 minutes in the workshop is never enough in the workshop this week I'm going to show you how I go about fitting drawer fronts or draw fascias or to draw boxes it's coming up next time so this is the banquette I've been making this big box with drawers in there for this big job of mine and fairly obviously when you've got drawers in a face frame like this they've got to fit pretty nicely and one of the niggles that I've always had previously is how to get the the Front's the fascias attached I'm going to show you how I do that now now I've made the actual drawer boxes out of birch ply fairly standard sort of domino draw construction and I'm using bloom movento drool runners for this because they have lots of adjustment not in terms of the physical amount but in terms that there are many different ways they can be adjusted now I cut and fitted the fascias into the holes basically into the apertures so they've got approximately one and a half millimeters of space all around them the trouble is how do you then attach them because you can't clamp that to the draw it's actually really hard I know some guys put screws through the drawers and they give it a quick sort of thump in the hope that you're gonna mark where the screws come through but I do things just a little bit a little bit simpler than that so what I do is I take my one and a half mil Packers let me just take the fascia count and just move it along the level this exposes the edge of the drill and then I can just put a little pencil mark where the bottom of the draw box comes and do the same on the other side [Music] flat and with the spaces in it also mark the ends with the draw front face down on the bench I can extend the pencil marks out with a square then remove the drill box and making sure it's the right way around lining up with the pencil marks tapping it into place carefully with an Omar hammer then fixing it to the fascia driving the small screws through the back of the draw pox rebate with a fascia fix we can turn the assembly round and upright carefully though as it's only held in place with a couple of screws then temporarily tape everything together what are nice things one of the things I like about this bloomer vote and runners is it can get a little extra in out adjuster which means you can adjust the depth of the draw box and draw fascia so within a face rain that's really useful and these just clip in to the draw clips gives you instant access to move things in and out with the extra clip fixed we can offer up the draw and fish or combo onto the runners pushing the whole assembly home until the draw clips click into place it's not bad there's a little bit low a little bit lower than it should be perhaps the weight of the fascia sort of pull it down a little bit so what we'll do and using the sine adjusters just bring them up a couple of clicks so full of the lining up pretty well it's a little bit far in that way so I'm just gonna use the adjuster bring that out very slightly and then what's happening is it's tipping slightly it's not completely level it's not completely flush so what we'll do the back of the drawer there's a little adjuster here and we can raise the back slightly to tip the front forwards effectively spit up with everything set we can take out the draw and face down on the bench fix the fascia with screws driven through the back of the draw box having carefully checked the screw side of the door then remove the remaining tape and confirm that the drawer still fits [Music] so that's how I do my draw fascias anyway there's a there's lots of different ways of doing this you do whatever method that suits you but a couple of little pencil marks always works for me and then just bring everything back into position using the adjustment available in the bloom movento runners I switch to using those fairly recently and though I do like them they're very very useful obviously the insides of the draw boxes these screw holes will be filled and this whole thing is going to be sent off to be sprayed on obviously when it comes back when it goes into its a new home it will settle to a slightly different position and will need to readjust these when they come back but from now at least we know that they're sitting fairly well and we can get them back in nice and even within the range of adjustments that we've got on those on those draw others so that's it for this week I hope you've enjoyed that I hope if I do useful if you did give it a thumbs up share it freely and do consider subscribing if you have already done so well here just check back on a Friday and there's always something new afternoon I'll see you then take you
