welcome back guys my name is Wes and you can see  that I've got an issue behind me here and uh of   course you don't you don't know this but this  is not something that I've never actually dealt   with before this tree has basically fallen into  the pond here it's a tulip poplar tree and it's   been here pretty well my whole life as far as I  can remember and it appears that I don't know if   it fell during some wind or what the deal was  but whatever has happened here it is uprooted   a large portion of the bank right here and it's  fallen into the pond and I would really like to   get it out of the pond but the problem is I only  have this relatively small 45 horsepower tractor   here and I really don't know how to get it out  of the pond so let's uh let's just try and figure   it out it's not a particularly large log it may  be like 13 14 inches tops down here at the base   but there's a lot of it and the tractor is like I  said it's kind of a small tractor so I don't know   here's what I'm going to try first I'm going to  go ahead and just cut it off at the base and it's   going to be kind of fun because this root ball  right here is no doubt going to flop over and   make a pretty cool water explosion so I'm going  to cut it off at the base and then I'm going to   wrap a chain right here and use the leverage to  try to wiggle it around that direction if I can   get it over there and get the stump portion  pointed that way hopefully I can just kind   of gradually get it off onto the bank and cut  it off as I get it out I don't know let's try well that wasn't quite as spectacular as I had  hoped that would be but it did patch the bank   there was a y'all saw that big hole that was  in the side of the bank right there and that's   patch looks a whole lot better and I left this  stump intentionally because stumps down at ponds   can be handy uh as long as they're not in the way  and this one's not in the way here so that there   it is right there it's a tulip poplar tree not a  whole lot of hardwood going on right here which   is kind of what I suspected and I think that's  probably because it's had a steady access to a   water its entire life so let's hook the chain  to right up here and see what I can do I'm not   so sure this is going to work or not this is a  lot of weight right here but I'm not sure what   else to do the main thing is I definitely don't  want to leave it on this bank right here or in   the pond because there's enough trash in the pond  and this would just really be ugly and in the way well guys if I hadn't filmed that I don't  think anybody would have believed it that   little tractor just pulled that tree out of the  pond and all the way up into the woods I guess I   really wasn't prepared for where I was gonna go  there so I just found a hole in the woods which   I think was an Old Road and uh just kept going  and plowing through saplings I didn't want to   stop because it was going so I'm really shocked  and and happy that that worked out here's where   the whole setup ended up here this is a current  road actually right here that I still use and   this was where I came through right here I think  this used to be a road a long time ago but yeah   it pulled the entire thing up into the woods  here that was uh that was great now I just got a   gotta see about getting it out of here I had  the tractor in four-wheel drive low range with   the rear differentials locked and those tires  didn't even spin doing that except towards the   end when I was trying to turn a little bit  so yeah I can't can't complain about that   this is the top of the tree that just came out  of the pond here and it did scrape up the bank   pretty bad but this is pretty wet dirt so I'm  thinking it'll fill back in with grass without   too much trouble Pond is a little bit muddy  but the tree's not in it anymore so that's uh   that's a good deal let's see if we can  get this tree into pieces and out of here at this point I've got the two base sections  of this log and I am going to put those on   the Sawmill here in just a minute and this is  the kind of the top of the tree mid to top of   the tree I'm not going to fool with trying to  saw this up it's getting relatively small here   towards the middle but I do want to pull this  out of the wood so I don't junk up the woods   so uh let's get this out of here and then  we'll see if we can get the Sawmill going I can't get down the path to the trash pile whoops that is definitely not going to work I'm gonna  have to move the log down just a little bit thank you all right guys let's go ahead and give this  slog a try here on the mill and to be honest   I'm not expecting a whole lot of spectacular  things out of this log I use the depth gauge   on the saw head and it told me it's about 14  and a quarter inches wide right here this is   the wide end of course and very little heart  wood right here very very little hardwood my   thought and my thoughts and plans don't always  come to come to reality but my thought on this   is to cut it up and use it as part of our  multi-species floor in our house when we   get to that point in the project so I don't know  let's open it up and see what it's looking like let's see what we've got I took a couple of sneak   peeks and I think it's going to  be better than I was thinking here's a piece that's pretty much  mostly all sap wood right here I don't know how well the camera is  picking it up but it's pretty nice too   it's got some nice grain in it there  will not I like the knots personally well I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised I  didn't expect to get such decent Lumber out of   these I'm probably definitely going to try to  put these in our house that means I might have   to get them stickered and get them drying  but we'll pick back up on this tomorrow I'm   out of time for the day I got a late start we  all had dentist appointments this morning and   it is almost 4 P.M and I've got a date tonight  so we'll try that other log tomorrow and also   tomorrow I want to try to get this trailer out  there to the pig pen and back to court it's kind   of at one of the gates I guess you could call  them so the pigs start getting used to getting   in and out of the trailer so it'll be easy come  the evening before butcher day to get them loaded what you   doing over here playing what you playing with safety chains show me what you've done inside of the trailer  yeah well what is it I don't know yet but it   had the winch you see [Music] no it's not an  adjustable wrench you're right Adventure I know   I got that one shelf the shop because  that's where I keep my wrenches in the shop   okay well what do you call  this contraption you Maya a slingshot yes okay we'll go with it foreign now this is something that I really  should have done before I started sawing the   logs up I should have put it right there on the  ends of the logs where I where I cut but I want   to go ahead and do this this is Anchor seal  right here and basically this is going to slow   The Escape of moisture from the ends of these  boards and prevent or at least greatly reduce   the cracking on the ends or checking is what  it's called really so I want to make sure I   get a good coat of this stuff on all the ends  of these boards if I had done it beforehand   I would have just been able to slather it over  the the end of the log but I didn't think about   it until just now and this is Poplar so it's  very soft so my guess is that it's going to have   a tendency to wanna don't want to crack pretty  bad so or check pretty bad it's called chicken well my plans have been disrupted just a little  bit today this trailer needs a tag on it and it's   so old that all the serial numbers are worn off  so I've been given a serial number plate I've   got to put that plate on and then go down to the  sheriff's department and have it inspected and   then they'll sign off of it and then I'll get a  tag so what I have done is I actually kept food   from the pigs this morning so when I'm doing  all of this stuff getting the trailer backed   up to the fence they wouldn't be right over  there they'd be more interested in the feed   because they would have been hungry so I can't  leave them hungry all day so I'm just gonna go   feed them and then later on this afternoon we'll  come back once we get this trailer squared away   legally and uh I guess I guess fight pigs  while we try to put this into the fence so of course I don't want these two electric  strands going across this back door of the   trailer I want to redirect them to go  down and count it up under the trailer   here so I'm going to move I'm going to  move this one right here down to here   and then let's do that I think that will  do it unfortunately I don't have any more   of those electric fence standers so  I'm going to use PVC pipe [Music]   I think y'all can probably see this so here's  the back of the trailer here and here are my   two electric fence wires oh here comes a pig  here's my two electric fence wires and I don't   want these sticking out like this because I worry  that the pigs will stick their nose to it and get   shocked and not go in the trailer so I'm going  to take this very dry piece of wood here and just   kind of hook it on to one of those little stobs  right there and I think that'll solve my problem and as long as that's dry it's not going to   be conductive so it should be  good hey don't eat my hammer well guys that's gonna do it for this video I've  had just about enough fun for one day and I'm   hoping that this pig right here goes up in this  trailer and finds this food I've got some food   up in there now so my hope is that they'll start  feeding There She Goes My Hope Is they'll start   feeding up in there and then once Sunday evening  comes I can just shut the trailer door and Monday   morning I can be off with them I almost managed  to get the trailer legal I have to have a tag   for it at this point and I went to the sheriff's  department and got got them to inspect it and they   signed off on it then I went to the tag office  and I couldn't get a tag because it's actually   not my trailer it's a loner trailer so the person  who owns it has to take that paperwork down so   one more hoop to jump through but hopefully I'll  have a tag tomorrow I'm desperately hoping because   that's kind of that's kind of as late as it  can be if you see back here something that   I've done I hooked the Jeep up to this trailer  the reason that I did that is because when it   was off when it was off of the truck it wasn't  as stable people it wasn't quite as stable as   it was of course when it was hooked up to the  truck so I didn't feel really good about that   because once a thousand pounds of pigs get up in  there I'm afraid that it's going to be uh it may   they may move the trailer one way or the other  and get it off of the fence and they may create   some kind of a hole and they might just Escape so  I didn't feel good about that so I figured that'd   be a good task for the Jeep so I hooked the Jeep  up to the trailer and that made it pretty stable   so I don't think it's going to go anywhere at this  point but I think that's going to do it for this   one at this point I just need the pigs to get  used to the trailer we'll close it up on Sunday   evening and take them to the Butcher on Monday  and then we'll have some sausage and gravy next   week we're taking all but one one of them we're  keeping as a breeder sow and uh we'll see how   all of that goes but I'll give you all an update  once this whole ordeal is passed and I'll see you   all in the next one thank you for watching are you  eating paint you're eating paint chips aren't you
