Moore's answer is why I sometimes want to join the SBC. The pastor's question is why I still don't.
It bothers me that this is even a question. Individual soul liberty is one of the defining distinctives of the Baptist tradition. In the 17th century Baptists were petitioning the king of England to give refuge and provide place of worship for Muslim migrants. Moore's answer is fantastic. Frankly I would have gone one step further: To call yourself a Baptist and seek to deny Muslims the right to build mosques is like calling yourself a Baptist and denying credobaptism. It's like calling yourself a Pentecostal and affirming cessationism. It's like calling yourself a Catholic and denying the spiritual authority of the Vatican and the Pope. That last one's actually a good analogy: These people who are opposed to the right of Muslims, or people of any other creed, to worship unmolested by government or the church, are essentially the Baptist version of sedevacantists.
R.C. Sproul Jr.'s succinct response is also good.
In my view, I want them to build the biggest and best and most beautiful mosques they possibly can. Why? Because sooner or later, those will be churches. So spare no expense!
Also, since when is Jere Burns a moderator in the SBC?
I just keep watching this because I love it so much. Just watch the magnificently bearded man behind the questioner noping the question.
Are any of you part of the Pulpit Bunker? JD Hall is an interesting guy, but sometimes his crowd just gets mad at the wrong things. This is posted on their page as "Russel Moore Mosque Builder" or some other nonsense.
