now I would like to invite dr. Ramesh Richard he's a well renowned international speaker a church planter and also encourages lot of ministries all over the world he is visited more than hundred countries and shared the love of God the message of God let us all welcome dr. Ramesh Richard on the stage please thank you so you won't get this mic I know we've been sitting for a long time why don't we all stand and when audiences hear me say let's stand there and dangerous ground because you know I'm going to go very very long but we will not go past our allotted time what a rich day this has been filled with amazing stories of life change of intervention of rescue this has been one of the most wonderful days of my life and I know that you would agree you may be seated even as we start the festival season with this incredible day I know that the concept has been fantastic the witness is a beautiful word it's a legal term meaning to testify to justify to verify the whole afternoon is going to take a different turn with my presentation because we've heard what is called the power of testimony it is incontrovertible because it is unique to the person and therefore we want to see if everybody here can rewrite their witness as a result of this incredible day I appreciate the fact that two of you said we are not here to convert anybody conversion is not my job or anybody's job we're here simply as pointers we perhaps our day or two ahead of you a step or two in front but we're walking this journey together we expect nothing coming here we are paid nothing coming here we actually have spent energy time and resources simply to spend this day with you and so I'm hoping that these final comments for about 30 minutes will be significant in your life a good thank you for your excellent ceremonial mastering of today I have enjoyed all your jokes about Irish and all this they say the degrees of egoism is I IR and I younger so between those three we have all of them being represented here this is an afternoon talk which is hard for both the speaker and the audience when we were meeting last night somebody said afternoon's difficult you need to put more fire in the speech and I said most people think I had the most put more of my speech in the fire will do the best that we can but this a personal historic moment for the next 30 minutes or so this is a moment which is going to call for your response we will document it we will record it you'll have an opportunity to share what you have thought about this day when we were living in Delhi one morning we opened the Hindustan Times and found a major advertisement taken out by the Gymkhana Club where they teach horse racing and apparently the membership was low so this full-page advertisement went this way come join the Gymkhana Club said four fast people we have fast horses four slow people we have slow horses for fat people we have fat horses for thin people we have thin horses and for people who have never ridden horses before we have horses that have never been ridden before we are hoping that at some point the intersection will be clear regardless of for the faster slower fat or thin with airbags in the front as the Irish host already talked about so if you turn off your phones but not your heart and mind this final session has a different feel I'm told of a young man who was accosted by his future prospective father-in-law and he said son do you drink and the young man said to the older man first of all I have to ask you if this is a question or an invitation I am going to do this together most of the part of my talk will be an invitation later on after our break we'll have time for a question many of you have heard the Bible being referred inside your gift bag it's a beautiful indigo covered New Testament if you want to open it and can read it I want you to move to page number 10 page number 10 this is the 150th anniversary of Gandhiji's this is a very special moment in the history of our land he considered the Sermon on the Mount of the Lord Jesus Christ as the finest sermon he had ever heard page 10 second column starting around number 24 you will find the climax of the stock it addresses a very critical issue of your heart in fact is going to draw a line right in this auditorium a line between the two of you line possibly even between families it's the climactic favorite part or what Gandhi said was his best ever someone that he had heard already so my question this afternoon is on what foundation are you building your life by what foundation are you living your life on what foundation are you building your life by what foundation are you living your life money is a poor foundation on which to build your life most people who address money as the foundation think in too short a term that's why we have corruption throughout the whole world from the highest of FIFA and the IPL and every other realm as you just heard from gold a friend in Indonesia once said to me Indonesia you cannot be honest smart or a public servant at the same time either you're honest and a public servants are not smart or you're smart and a public servant and not honest money is a poor foundation and keeps saying goodbye to you fame is a poor foundation on which to build your life in fact we have so many famous people in Bollywood half of them we've not heard about so famous they are power is a poor foundation on which to build your life I was recently in a country where the man had been president for 33 years and had to resign about 11 seconds and he was complaining to the rest of the country that he had to stop at traffic lights red lights that he had not stopped for 33 years you need to come to X Prime Minister X president X Maharaja X parliamentarian clubs they're all the world power is not a good foundation on which to build your life human relationships are not a good foundation with civilian life why would you want a relationship of a foundation with another human being who needs a foundation or for his or her life somebody said with all the hearts that have been broken when you are 28 up to 28 you are single after 28 you are unmarried I heard there was a classified ad which said wanted wife and the response was the same from hundreds of men who said you can have mine massive relational breakdowns parents and children colleagues work religion is a poor foundation on which to build your life all religions anywhere there's rules and rituals there's nothing you can meet and make it worse than trying to attempt to keep the rules of any religion including the ones you've heard about today education is a poor foundation on which to build your life see when I was growing growing up here in Chennai was a massive anti-hindi sentiment my Hindi teacher actually said even if you get zero you'll pass I'll make sure and I got eight marks and I passed one of the reasons we didn't have as many IAS officers inside the civil services from Tamil Nadu is because we didn't know Hindi very well and so a man which failed his IAS exams actually started an IAS counselling advisory preparatory service man who made a lot of money who lived a good life and plays hundreds of IAS officers around the country and you know where I'm going with this yesterday morning Shanker there verizon took his life at the age of 45 extremely accomplished but nothing can really qualify as a foundation for your life if it's the wrong object so on what foundation are you building your life by which foundation are you living your life what you find on page 10 number 24 on is a simple story of two men two men who are building a house they both built a house one built his house on the sand another built his house on the rock the rains came floods rose and the winds beat on both houses and the house that was built on the rock stood and the house that was built on the sand was smashed such a powerful little parable to probe deep into your heart after this very rich day of personal stories of having chosen wisdom over foolishness I want to tell you about a couple of similarities between these two men and then a couple of dissimilarities and we will close similarities between these two men both men had heard Jesus words I mean you heard phenomenal stories today I'm in the business of teaching speaking and some of the finest speakers ever presented you heard articulate short sweet filled with energy everybody here today has heard Jesus words and if you were sleeping till this time you're hearing it again for one last night both also we're building a house now in the Middle East the building of a house was not just a physical it was a metaphor for living a life if you're alive today you're building a house I don't want to assume that you are awake this afternoon but if you check your pulse you have a heart still pumping in your chest you're building a house I cannot see you so I don't know if you're awake there's old Burmese proverb which says it is hard to wake up people who pretending to be asleep so I cannot see you you're building a house both are jesus words and then you'll find a number 25 and number 27 that there was a huge storm both faced storms it says the rain came down strong from on top the floods came up strong from the bottom the winds from the side and that's how storms operate all kinds of storms their purse were storms financial storms relational storms storms of a dark future horizon that seemed dismal and distressing the storms of grief some of you are facing right now of having lost loved ones those are storms if you notice both men experienced storms you know why because storms do not discriminate storms hit rich people and poor people fast people and slow people fat people and thin people storms do not just pick the bad ones to hit everybody is affected by storms so those are some similarities some time ago in the Rockefeller Center in New York they had a painting of your four murals of the progress of mankind the first mural said this is man the primitive cave dweller the next mural said man the primitive tool maker the next mural said man the advanced technologist and then in a switch of motif the fourth painter part of this painting took a entirely different turn that a picture of the Lord Jesus addressing multitudes and underneath that the artist had said this that the progress of mankind does not depend on the progress of technology or science but whether people will listen and believe in the words of one who spoke 2,000 years ago that is the kind of wisdom we're talking about that brings us to the dissimilarities between these two men first dissimilarity they were different in character one is called a wise person and the other is called a foolish person look at number 24 and number 26 now who is a wise person who is a wise man a wise man is not just data man some of you can memorize a whole bunch of data some of the most brilliant talented people are sitting right in front of me at this point a wise man is not necessarily any information man I know there are some who can process huge amounts of information a wise man is not just a detached man some of the stories we heard today of those who have detached himself from life and they don't know the practical press of the realities of life oh by the way a wise man is not an educated man either I know many educated fools a PhD somebody's dead stands for a permanent head damaged a THC stands for total heart damage and a heart damage is worse than head damage education does not necessarily make you WAIS who is a wise man the word that Lord Jesus uses is one who pays thought to life and acts upon it all morning and early afternoon you're being care fronted by unbelievable stories of those a day or two a step or two ahead of you saying here's the way here's the Pointer you too can be wise in your choice for eternal consequence that's a wise man one who pays attention to takes thought and acts on it but the Lord Jesus also uses the opposite word fool man now what is a foolish man the best English word was what Raghu used to earlier today already it is a schoolyard epithet that we throw around for now in schools are you my childhood classmate is sitting here today and we probably thought of each other as morons morons they know what should be done but they don't take action about it you know as I said earlier I went to school and college here and my struggles were in all the subjects I had a tumblr class and I was so poor whenever the teacher erased the board I would erase the notebook he would come to me and ask me questions in English asking me to answer in Tamil what is your name imperil ramesh put serve their emperor sir Ramesh thummell as you know is the world's oldest living continuously survived language there are other languages which are older which are broken and come back in by ninety some million who t speak Tamil but the issue was I was being a when I was being given advice I didn't want it and people were telling these stories I said that's good for them I don't want it for myself even though the power of testimony had a way by which it could draw me into their lives and I don't want you to walk out today as a actually there's a still which continues in my life that I must mitigate they were different in character some time ago I was speaking in IIT Chennai one of our friends had organized it and I told him the story and the meaning of life about how first class pass they get all the technical seats of doctor an engineer the second class pass they become MBAs and you know the administrators that control those who are doctors and engineers the third class pass they become politicians and ministers and they control those in the second class in the first class and those who are failed of course David joined the underworld to become goon doesn't control everybody on top and those who stopped attending school they become Swami's and gurus and everybody follows them we do not want that kind of ISM there were different in character secondly these two men were different in what we're going to call authority one man built his house on the rock the other man builds his house on the sand the man who built his house on the rock paid careful attention to what life should be now and for ever and he said that's where I find my security I need a foundation which will hold me in the storm of life so Rama and I've been used to go to Marbella from there we have a lighthouse that's the marina beach light house light oscillation light oil bust and so on that one over there is a historic one it stands by the side of a lighthouse from the pole of a kingdom fifteen hundred years ago and so they've just opened it 2001 they had to shut it down because there are some LTT problems and all this stuff and it was a challenge in Chennai Airport they wanted to keep everything safe but a lighthouse is basically there to give a beacon of direction to those who are lost at sea in 1984 I heard of a radio conversation between a very large powerful ship battleship called the USS enterprise which radioed something in front of it saying when collision course move to your right 15 degrees came a message back to said we are in collision course you move to the right 15 degrees the captain of the ship had never been [Music] pushed back in any way because this is a powerful ship it can decimate entire nations in 45 minutes so he sends a message says coalition 15 degrees comes back a message says yes we are in coalition you move 15 degrees now the captain says I've got to make this clear three messages and it says this is the USS Enterprise and I am the captain he moved to the right 15 degrees came a message which said this is a civilian but this is the lighthouse you decide when it comes to the Lord Jesus the light he does not adjust to us we adjust to him if he says he is the way I don't like it that's what we heard from two of us testimonies just this afternoon I have to subscribe Gulin Sheila had me ten years ago as possibly you remember we had our own 11:26 the USS 9/11 the UK s 7/11 1126 you remember the Taj Hotel was attacked not far from their home 164 people died six hundred or so non-fatal injuries yeah organized for me to speak to the Rotary Club night before Sheila says you need to speak on God in the middle of turmoil so I present a talk like this and the Q&A is somebody gets up and said are you making Jesus the only way I said no no no I am NOT making Jesus the only way he has made himself the only way so I am subscribing to it so it's up to us he doesn't adjust to us we are just to him different in character different in authority but third the different in destiny if you look at the end of number 25 and 27 we can wrap it format winds rain floods the house which was built on the rock stands the house which is built on the sand is destroyed destiny my friend here this day we are talking about eternal destiny we're talking about decisions being made which have eternal consequence so the storms are going to be real we said everybody faces storms but the tense with the Lord Jesus uses it's not really talking about current storms but a mother of all Strongsville is going to touch the entire human race all of us will have to die but there's going to be a time when the whole earth is going to feel this deadly dastardly storms which we probably will create for ourselves the question is how will we survive into eternity tomorrow evening I'm supposed to speak in Hyderabad on if God why so much evil we burden ourselves we're already on the path to destruction and Jesus says build on the rock not on the sand everything else is a poor foundation but build on the rock two men similarities both were building a house heard Jesus words they've faced storms the similarities in character in authority in destiny sometime ago I was going through immigration and customs in the US they took me aside and they wanted to check me out after looking through my suitcases for false bottoms they asked me to lift my shoe wondered if the heel would be false and in a final violation of privacy they asked me for my wallet my purse went through it and he said now mr. Richard you can leave I said to the man thank you for clearing me but I'm really interested because when you invited me here I thought I had won the special lottery but what was the problem and the customs officer said later on today the Prime Minister of India is coming into the country and there's a threat on the prime minister's life and we've got to check every one of your background they looked through every page every piece inside my wallet but I want you to notice something the storm did not make me wise or foolish the storm proved if I was wise or foolish the question now arises if we all have degree of isms inside our hearts and lives how do we go from being a foolish person to being a wise person of that - Lord Jesus answers look at the front part of verse 24 the front part of verse 26 he says everyone who hears my word everyone now the politician said everyone needs to hear me you'll say what do you think does he think he's God if a professor were to say everybody must subscribe to my worldview the internal part of you says I may have to do that for this class but I don't agree if a proud philosopher were to say everyone must follow me you'll ask is he mad do you know that Jesus by saying everyone was actually making a claim to be God because God says everyone it means everyone everybody within the range of my voice even through my dimmed sight everybody regardless of where you're sitting this afternoon everyone who hears my word and does it will be a wise person building his house on the rock if you heard Jesus words today and just leave like you came in we'll continue to build on the sand that's how clearly the simple parable puts it why is the Lord Jesus the foundation for the human race especially you because he created us he's carried us this far as you've heard from these beautiful seven presentations he's covered our sins he has taken our guilt he has paid for our shame by his death me rises again said I can be your rock in the only verifiable self resurrection in history I would be your rock embrace the rock when our oldest son wasn't a third standard he got his name on the board I didn't know what had happened next day he came and said but he probably got his name on the board I said what's happening he didn't tell me the third day got his name on the board and I called his teacher and he said it's because he's talking too much in class so I said son don't get your name on the board next day he went and got his name on the board this time I raised my voice and said do not thou shalt not get your name on the board he said I'll try the rule is clear he tried the next day he got his name on the board I said to him son if you get your name on the ward tomorrow I'll have to give you some discipline and now that got his attention it was of a higher intensity than just the raising of a voice but he managed to get his name on the board he came back I spanked him disciplined him on the bed he was strong he didn't cry next day he went I'm sure it hurt him or at least prompted him he stayed most of the day without getting his name on the board but the end of the day you've got his name above all and my wife and I were wondering how in the world can I stop the son of mine from getting his name of the board and finally in desperation I said to him son tomorrow Monday we don't want you to get your name on the board I've tried to instruct you I've tried to command you I've tried to discipline you doesn't seem like we're succeeding tomorrow if you get your name on the board I will take the penalty of your decision you will get to spank your father I said son it is so serious if you get your name on the board tomorrow you will get to discipline your father I will take the punishment Monday he went off to school I went to the office and I came back in the evening everything was quiet in the house I knew what had happened he had gotten his name on the board at that point I had to decide you know I say just boys will be boys girls will be girls or should I keep my word so that he can trust me so I took him to the back room I took my belt out and I dropped my trousers I laid on the bed and said son this is where you have gotten your punishment today I want to take the punishment for you no I cannot do that I said I will take it son for you lifted his hand up and brought it very limp on my back I said go ahead son I will take your punishment on me I got up put on my trousers and my belt I held him closely I said son I brought you into this world I created you I've carried you this far but today I've covered for you you know ladies and gentlemen friends from that day on he never got his name on the board again he has done lots of other things but he never got his boat name on the board again may I ask you which god loved you so much to come down to be humiliated to drop his trousers and be punished instead of you and may his ice he rises again and embraces you and says I have created you have carried you thus far I've covered you will you embrace me as your work I don't wouldn't want you to be a for the rest of your life from now into eternity you'll be like the wise man who built his house on the rock you [Applause]
