Dozens of students arrested amid protests at Yale

Protesters against the war in Gaza are marching in the streets after police in New Haven have arrested students and removed them from their encampment. Organizers say at least 49 people have been arrested already this morning at Yale. Many of them have been camping out at Yale for days occupying Meineke Plaza. Now they're doing this in solidarity with campus movements all across the country including more than 100 students who arrested at Columbia University last week. Yes. So here's video from this morning when police first got there before seven o'clock, the group has asked the trustees to disclose their investments in the military weapons manufacturing companies and they tell us the president gave them a 10 minute meeting where they asked university trustees to divest the university has not agreed to do that. All right. Now take a look here. These are some new photos coming to us of, of police arrests this morning after they taped off the encampment and removed crowds. Now many who were arrested did stay inside the encampment. They've colored out their faces there. But organizers say these are students again. At least 49 pro Palestinian activists have been arrested this morning while police say they're already releasing. Some people, organizers have announced that some are already being charged with class a misdemeanors. Now, that's the highest category available in Connecticut. Students say they're trying to get their things now from inside the encampment. Many telling us that they don't have their I DS or life saving medication with them. All right. And crowds now taking to the streets protesting these arrests, police have now told them that as long as they stay peaceful, they can be in those streets without more arrests. We know they've largely shut down the four way intersection outside the Schwartzman Center that is Grove Street and College Street here occupying a lot of downtown of the city.
