what up everybody up DJ damage welcome to rpm circle presents spotlight life here at revolt now Dorothy Martin received a call of a lifetime one morning while eating a bowl of cereal the call eventually led to her meeting up with her mentor Jay Z and snagging a record deal for her band with Roc Nation Dorothy said that she met other executives in the past but Jay Z was so cool it just felt like family not hitting the RPM stage please give it up for the group Dorothy Hey you can tell me he ball twisting a baby in the one once we got cake yo I can tell you Oh the right well welcome to revolt studios Dorothy Oh Dorothy I'm looking directly at Gregg in Dorothy yeah we actually cut Dorothy some time here for let's talk about the plot why is the band called Zack Greg DJ enjoy yeah too much yeah why I'm in trouble Dorothy people lost in the new visas even so how did you guys meet Matt hang up right outside the Viper Room you didn't have a shirt on well and my country thought he's a drummer and I look perfect he looks like he could be in the water yeah it's great that white balloons a part of your story it's a Nelly institution I mean if you could hear the sound too right yeah yeah do they then point you guys to sort of uphold something about LA and Sunset Strip innocence oh we packed it right before we went out on tour with Miguel which is not expected involved yeah you know it was a really really electric show I almost passed out on scene it was hot never yeah you weren't there I wasn't there he wasn't there yet but now he's in the bed now if you look up Dorothy the band you get the website you get the amazing story about a shaman now tell me about a song you were there I was there repart took in the white Santeria I wasn't having anything of it I stayed out the van old lady was getting down your man man you blew smoke in our case it was an amazing time how do you compare this to like ayahuasca or peyote or something was like we didn't try like okay okay I'm channeling you're getting spat on but you're sober it's basically like is that - I'm tripping fabric product shaman rituals it was a white sensory I like it's supposed to be rid of the negative energy attached to you yeah and after that a lot of great things started happening so get spit on wasn't a sham or next too thick and there's chickens I use chicken you're like cracked an egg on your hand lady cracking it was a whole fare - $30 I've spent many I got this dirty water and like spit it on I'm sure this is him getting his rocks off it's like he may have given my Wesker so everywhere they said I missed out on them and I know I wouldn't have to go down and getting spit on it's also kind of Sunset Strip in a way holding rock so I mean for all the shamans and mysticism that's in your background could you have even imagined that you'd be on jay-z's record label no that's an incredible twist no and it's you know I feel very much that we want to transcend genres and we can still be mainstream and still be punk rock you know I think that good music is good music and I think there's something special to this rocket and it's funny you bring up your honor because your album is a call to arms of sorts as an indictment of the coach movie Rock is dead Rock is dead it's funny cuz it's not it's never what you guys are certainly making sure it's okay yeah well and there's a lot of really great rock bands out there right like we see them all the time to look at your process in how you guys get together myself well mostly feed him starts and spicy turn around to move around with us I do tape there I tape there jam because they just get into it around love meetings which is kinda just happened yeah the Dorothy live shows clearly is something that people respond to the visceral thing you talk much about what you want to accomplish on stage or do you guys all just say it's my destruction going off socks like we should hand out duct tape so people can free duck take their socks and we're going to blow them so you're the cusp of something really big with the album the signal is doing well talk to me where you guys see yourselves in like five years what's like an ideal layout of the Dorothy story um Studio IDE Grammys are cool the way yeah movies Ibiza validation but also you guys look amazing on the red carpet and probably I think that you should wear a tweed suit yeah you're wearing a top hat yeah okay go I'm gonna go like little Kim with 15 yeah thank you goes little kick in with the pasties as well keep hair looking since we're always gonna be milking but with big kids yeah we're always swinging I want you guys to integrate you so badly so I could see had acceptance and I feel like the world would be better go with you on speaker Kelly's not playing the song amazing it off the pianist look if we get this year the Green Team and the wrap it up music yeah future grand new winners Dorothy everybody go so much for your time what you yeah thank you for tuning in to today's rpm circle presents spotlight live performance we'll see you next time
