This is going to be my first impression along with all of you. I don't know what we're going to find behind this door. Let's see, we find ourselves in what looks like a living room, where people could easily come to negotiate whether to sell Belize or buy Costa Rica. Imagine the business deals that take place up here. But well, let's see what I believe would be one of the most impressive things that the hotel has to offer: the view. Indeed, tell your bosses you're busy chatting. It feels quite strange that I'm the only guest in this hotel. We're going to check out the restaurants around here now, to see if maybe we can find someone there, but there's absolutely no one around. I haven't come across anyone. Good morning, afternoon, or evening. I hope you're doing great. Friends, as you know, on this channel, we like to visit unusual, exotic hotels, rooms hanging on the edge of a cliff, the hotel with the most stunning pool on the planet. And it turns out that here in Venezuela, there's a place with a spectacular history, a hotel that was abandoned for over 60 years. At one point, it was one of the most luxurious and exclusive places in Venezuela. Even today, it's still quite exclusive because, as usual, it's built on one of the peaks of one of the most important mountains in all of Venezuela. On the mountain, El Ávila, which divides the capital Caracas from the coast. It's a majestic sight that can be seen from wherever you are in the city. And being on a mountain, we have to take a cable car up, one of the most epic ascents I've ever encountered leading to a hotel. We're going up, and I can't even imagine the view we're going to have of the entire Caracas and how the mountain will look over there. I'll tell you all the details soon, but this hotel was inaugurated in 1956 and back then, it was inaugurated with this cable car system. Imagine if it's impressive now, just look at the view we have. Now, imagine back then. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, today we are indeed going to visit the Humboldt Hotel, which if I'm not mistaken, belongs to the government or something like that, and that's why it's a somewhat controversial place, from what I understand. So, let me tell you upfront that nobody invited me here. I am solely coming here with my own funds, by my own means, to explore this place that they say is trapped in the 1950s, that it hasn't been remodeled, but rather restored. By the way, it's expensive; it's not at all cheap to come to this place. Soon, I'll tell you in detail how much it costs, what's included, and the reservation process, which was quite strange, to be honest. You see, it seems you can climb the mountain through paths in the middle of the forest, and look at this view, look at the jungle down here, the cable cars going back and forth. It's like a scene from a movie, it's marvelous. I'm not lying; what a spectacular landscape. I thought that after the cable car, we would arrive directly at the hotel, but no, thank God there's an excellent service, and a little cart picks us up to take us to the reception. But what we just did is one of the best things I've done in Caracas. It could be one of the best plans around here, and they tell me that if you're not staying at the hotel, you can still go up, and it costs only 10 dollars. In a matter of minutes, we are at 2140 meters above sea level, and you can see the complete change in weather. It's freezing here, it even started to rain, and you can't see anything at all. This hotel is truly beautiful, my friend. I will show you all the details. For some reason, today the cable car only operated at five-thirty in the afternoon, and it's getting dark already. So, I've almost lost the whole day of the reservation. We'll make the most of the remaining light to show you my room, and then we'll explore the hotel. It works with a card. I don't know if this is from that era or if they've changed it, but look at this room. Even here, there's a button that should automatically open this curtain, but I can't make it work. Let's keep trying. Look at the room, my friends. It's like a maze inside, and everything is made of wood, just like in those times. I wasn't alive back then, but I've seen movies and images, and it looks incredible. They failed with the magazine; I was expecting to see a magazine from those years, but this one is modern. Here we have this little living area, like a place to negotiate whether to sell Morocói or buy Los Roques. Then, we have this desk for work, oh, look, with a little gift. With what I paid, let's analyze the quality of this gift. I hope it's good chocolate. It really is, filled and delicious. I appreciate that. Let's continue. Here we have what seems like a little machine to make coffee. Next to it is the main bedroom, where, thank God, we found the button to open the curtains and this window, I don't know what it's called, to let the light in completely. This fog you see is not a white wall or something, it's fog. That's how high up we are. Right now, it's all cloudy, and you can't see anything at all. Here we have a little screen, the bed, a mirror to see this beauty, and why am I showing you this room with a purse? What's wrong with this hotel guy? By the way, what's up with the crazy hotel guy? And on this side we have the main bathroom, let's see if the bathroom is worth the cost of this room, we have some water there, basic toiletries, hairdryer, and on this side a robe, very good, very good, extra points, and the bathroom is also beautiful, I hope the hot water works here because the water is probably freezing, I have to say that the room seems gorgeous to me, honestly, for the price it seems very beautiful, but this doesn't look like an expensive hotel, how can there be hairs on my bed, now I'm scared, I don't know what happened here, over here I see a little stain, I'm really scared, I don't know if I'm going to lay on some weird occurrence and the only thing we lacked is opening the balcony curtain, look at this, friends, and by the way, to open this balcony you have to call a hotel staff member who is really friendly and who comes and opens this door for you, he even came earlier and opened it without opening the curtains because I didn't know how to do it, but well let's see what I believe would be one of the most impressive things about the hotel, the view, indeed, drop your Fs in the chat, this is the view we have, in fact, look, it seems like I'm in heaven, I seem like a little angel, angelic music there please, you can't see anything, but it's still impressive, I don't know, not even downwards, look, you can't see anything below, just that light, I imagine that Caracas should be somewhere there, something very very curious is that this hotel as I mentioned they keep it as it was built to the extent possible, but they don't modify it, they don't add new things, so for example, this railing is really low, so to be able to come out here to this balcony you have to sign a liability waiver for anything that could happen, any accident or something like that. Now we are going to take a tour around the hotel while I tell you the history of this place and why it is so important, controversial and everything else for Venezuela, this over here is one of the restaurant areas that I've noticed there are about three restaurant areas and they told me that at the back of the restaurant was the pool that the person who greeted me highly recommended to me, they said it is something impressive and we are going to check if indeed it is something impressive friends, look at this, the truth is that yes, it is huge, yes, it does impress, the color is spectacular and most importantly we are going to check the temperature because imagine up here just seeing the cloudy I can't imagine how cold the water is but let's see and it's not tepid, perfect temperature, what a wonder and look how fun, I don't know if this brings back memories like from old movies but seeing these lifebuoys and these striped towels remind me of those years, I can't imagine what this would have been like in its heyday, it still impresses now, the truth is that it looks very nice, I can't imagine in its golden age, right here in the same pool area is the gym where yes we find the facilities a little decadent, I don't know if it has to do with the heated pool I imagine it causes humidity, here a contrast with the cold outside or if it has to do with that they can't remodel but it looks much much more deteriorated, they told me earlier that this was the old movie theater, now it looks like a little meeting room but back then here was the cinema, maybe you've already seen it in drone shots of drone or maybe not but this is the first time I'm seeing the hotel completely and up close because from afar it's almost always cloudy, look at this marvel of architecture at the time it was something spectacular it is still very nice and it is about 14 or 15 floors now we are going there the last to see what is there, the super summarized story of this hotel which is very interesting is the following: it turns out that Count Vladimir of Bertrain a French engineer arrived in Caracas and wanted to make a cable car that would go up to El Ávila and that from El Ávila it would go to the coast that are over there in this sunset where you can barely see some rays of sun, he wanted the cable car to cross the mountain and reach the beach and the president of that time Marco Pérez Jiménez who was a dictator who from what I've heard from the people I've talked to I don't know if the word is that they loved him but at least they say that despite he was a dictator that nobody wants here the dictators that despite of that he built a lot of things like he left a lot of infrastructure in the country, wanted to modernize it, so when the president of that time climbed up the hill of El Ávila to assess whether to make the cable car that the engineer wanted to do or not, he came across a view to all of Caracas that left him amazed and that the man on the spot said: approved the cable car project! but also I want a hotel to be built here on top where I'm standing that crazy this place suddenly cleared up look at the bed of clouds down there the hills that we get to see and the rays of the sun in the background take advantage of it because at any moment it becomes completely white again the years passed, different hotel chains like the Sheraton tried to grab it manage it but nothing worked, even also related in part I imagine when the years passed when this was like an icon of the dictatorship of Marco Pérez Jiménez so I imagine that socially nobody wanted to support the place after until Hugo Chávez tried to restore it but the crisis fell and again the hotel was abandoned until finally in 2018 the current government restored the hotel and made a concession with a chain that now yes it grabbed and even in 2020 it opened just three years ago one could say it opened its doors again this place so this is how this place was abandoned for more than 60 years until it was restored and we are using it again this is going to be my first impression along with you, I don't know what we will find behind this door let's see we find a small living room for people who perfectly can go to negotiate whether to sell Belize or buy Costa Rica imagine the businesses that are created here above and this door open to go out here, no! it's one of the most beautiful sunsets beautiful ones these eyes have seen friends look at the orange sky the clouds the mountains I imagine all this is part of Cerro El Ávila and over here part of the facilities wonderful just barely we made it we managed to see a sunset from the highest point of Caracas of the most wonderful ones I have seen because of the place we are in because of the mountain we have in front and the colors of the sky that can't even be seen well in this camera also in this hotel we found a floor on which there is a casino and let me tell you why it is shocking to find a casino in Venezuela a little over 10 years ago the very same Hugo Chávez closed all the casinos in Venezuela leaving about 100,000 people unemployed dozens of huge buildings of abandoned casinos because I don't know much the truth but I understand that he was completely against the rich and considered casinos as a place of entertainment for the rich so he ordered all the casinos all the bingos and things related to this type of business to be closed so only a few years ago the current government trying to give a breath to the Venezuelan economy gave permission for casinos to be reopened in some places I was told that in tourist places, casinos could be reopened so that's why it really impresses me to see a casino and also to be able to record it because we have the fortune on one hand that today it is closed so there is absolutely nobody we can freely enter to see a little bit of what is there and on the other hand it is fortunate because we are not seeing it work but usually when it is working it cannot be recorded These are some of the machines we come across. I don't understand any of this but just in case there are experts in the comments, this is what's here. They look like those slot machines, here probably some cards are played ah, well, blackjack, and this other kind of table with that roulette over there how interesting, tell me if you knew this about casinos in Venezuela and if you know anything else leave it there in the comments night fell and it's getting cold I had to come for a coat and here I want to show you something interesting that I hadn't told you and it's that I don't know if it was Hugo Chavez or the government added another star to the Venezuelan flag, it's crazy to change something so important and I've heard that sometimes people when they want to protest or so, they remove the star that was added but those who do that might get into trouble look how crazy, the lobby and this part here is like a meeting room, a lounge that is completely alone they told me earlier that this piano over here is like one of 7 in the world, something like that too unique just to practice my piano skills and get put in jail it seems very strange, like I am the only guest in this hotel right now we are going to the restaurants that are here to see if maybe there is someone but there is absolutely no one, I haven't come across anyone from what I understand all this area here in the past was for meetings and everything was separated with curtains for private conversations and that you see there is a fireplace I hadn't paid attention to this detail, see everything covered in copper this is one of the two restaurants that we find in the hotel this is the hotel's own restaurant, the Humboldt restaurant the design seems beautiful to me, in the background we have a view of all Caracas and they're telling me that here it's more normal, you could say that a lot of families come here and so so there are hamburgers, pizzas, main dishes like the famous churrasco and the dishes range from 20 to 35 dollars this is the other restaurant that looks very cool, to be honest, it's called La Buat', it's a French restaurant, let's see what they offer and over there in the back is the nightclub that is not open today but we are going to enter anyway because it's a 50's edition club and indeed, look at the circular dance floor from those years, here a good party is going to be set up the weekend, they already brought us the menu but while we decide they recommended the 911 cocktail, which please, what is this my brother, it's a cocktail based on Satan's rum 1796, berry medley, cranberry, lemon and mint this is literally a call for emergency look, they opened the IV bag, it looks like a serum bag, and what looks like blood started to fall into the glass it even looks thick, look at that. This restaurant is more expensive than the other one for example this 911 emergency cocktail costs about 12 dollars let's see how the serum bag is delicious, very dangerous. and here in the menu we find a lot of makis that the average is about 20 dollars and meat that the meat goes from 25 dollars up to 62 here we have a truffled grilled tenderloin that comes with a salad a sauce that they told me is homemade and at least when they arrived the smell is very good let's see if it tastes as good as it smells it's good, it's not spectacular, but it's tasty and in total we went for 50 dollars in a calm dinner at the Humboldt because there you could order up to 200 dollar champagne I think was available. Please look at this marvel, it got dark, it cleared up and we have all of Caracas behind us, the hill, I imagine that the sea must be there somewhere. Wonderful my pals, wonderful, and I don't know how "cafetal's old women" you are, which is what people in Venezuela call gossipy people, but if you noticed in the restaurant, we were completely alone. There wasn't a single other guest, I don't know if in the entire hotel there will be others and they are hidden somewhere under a couch or something. But it seemed strange to me that there is too much staff, in the restaurant there were a lot of people. When we entered the club, I don't know if you could see, it was dark, but there were also at least four or five more people and the hotel without guests, I imagine that to function it has to get fully booked on the weekends. The next day, Good morning friends, let's see how Humboldt welcomes us this morning. And again we have a view of the sky. We woke up completely cloudy, I think this is the first time we are going to resort to so much violence in a video. 2 F's in a single video, please explode that chat. By the way, something I haven't told you about Caracas, which in theory should be over there, we will have to imagine it. is that for some reason there are too many mosquitoes in the city, I don't know if it's because there are quite a few forests within the city, many trees and plants, or if it's because I am too sweet because I walk around with all my feet full of bites, so for this reason friends, I can never be without Off repellent that protects me from mosquito bites, which can also transmit diseases, imagine getting dengue or zika away from home, it's a big problem, so better to prevent. A fact that I haven't told you about this hotel is the way to reserve, it's a somewhat strange way, there is no way to reserve through booking or even there's no way to book online, to be able to reserve here it seems that you have to write to the hotel and the hotel sends some payment forms that none include a common way like paying with a credit card visa, Online, or something like that, but to reserve, a friend had to make a payment through Zelle which is for accounts in the US to accounts in the US what we had already seen before. Only in this way could he reserve to come here and also when I arrived to make the check-in, I had to fill out a form in which I reported or certified how I had gotten the funds to come to this hotel, which for the amount that it is, I didn't see it necessary to have to justify where the money came from with which I made the reservation, but this is how you book here at the Humboldt. We are starting very well with breakfast, we have some pastries here, fruits, yogurt, orange juice, even a cappuccino, and this is the entrance and now we have here the main dish, which is the Creole breakfast. From what I have heard these days touring Venezuela, I realized that this is the typical breakfast. It's the closest thing to what we have in Costa Rica but this is made here in the hotel, obviously it's going to be different than what I've tried on the street. The street one almost brought everything except this and instead of mini arepas, it brought a large arepa that you would open and put all these ingredients inside and you would eat it like that, and it also came with 'tajada' which is fried banana. Here I was told there are Andean arepas, pork rind arepas, and I think white arepas, like the traditional arepas. I'm very curious about this pork rind arepa let's see how it is Wonderful, I'm satisfied, the breakfast was really good it was the only thing left to assess from this hotel, and here you go my friends, here's how much it cost us for everything you have seen, only with breakfast included, it cost us approximately 278 dollars on a weekday, I don't know if it's more expensive on weekends, but that's the price for the cheapest room in what is said to be the most luxurious hotel in Venezuela, which by the way, is a five-star hotel, I hadn't mentioned that tell me, what do you think, would you pay that to stay here? I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did, don't forget to subscribe, share it if you liked it and see you in the next video pure life and kisses from someone who was trapped in 1956 for a few hours
