Don't tell my wife how I did this! Wood-Mizer sawing "impossible" HUGE Pecan log

alright guys thanks for tuning in and watching another somnolent video here what you're going to be seeing here is a continuation of a previous job selling this giant pecan log this section you can see me sawing here is actually half of one log in the green this log was so heavy that not even the hydraulics on the mill could pick it up which is kind of amazing because I can't say I've ever had a log on this mill that it can't pick up I've had 36 inch beech logs that were about 18 feet in length and it had no problem I did a green weight calculator on a pecan log of this size before it was cut and it estimated the log probably over 5500 pounds so we actually sawed it in half not a big deal because this is going to be turned into fluorine for the customer's home the customer actually had two logs of this size and their two saw them both in half so what your seen is only one of four that I actually saw here this was one large tree they said that when it was felled you could hear the crash at the park which was about half a mile away you're going to see me encounter a few challenges while sawing this log was all the more difficult projects and the reason for that being this log was larger than 36 inches in diameter which is the maximum capacity of my mill so you'll see me having to do some crafty work on this this was a very rewarding project to complete mostly because the customers informed me they had other sawmills that came out the property and one specifically that have been sawing for over 40 years said that there's nobody that would be so both satisfying for me and the customers are also satisfied because we basically did what others said was impossible hopefully when watching this video you won't be too critical and see some of the mistakes that I've made but you will see that hard work and determination pay off and allow you to accomplish tasks that otherwise wouldn't even be possible this pecan log did yield some beautiful lumber in the end but it is quite misshapen so it was difficult to turn on the mill you'll see us using a bobcat at times because I'm just having a hard time getting it centered to where I can manipulate it around to get the cuts I need I've done quite a bit of editing on this video just to speed things up and cut out some of the monotony of the project enjoy the video and if you want more information on my saw milling or woodworking business just check out southern indiana sawmill comm or look at us on facebook thanks guys have a good day [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Oh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Music]
