the most important game of the season for us and and we understand that and we know that so uh you know what's at stake you know if you lose you you're done if you win you keep going so um there not much to talk about the way we play tonight the way we got to play for the rest of the series sense of desperation and um coming out with a sense of urgency now that we quote unquote Crack the Code we got to know this is a championship ball Club crack the safe they still going to protect the contents within that safe like like crazy with their lives and they don't want you to get what's in that safe out and they don't want do to get the safe out of their house we're about to go to their house so we got to be focused of course La could be tied with Denver or even up in the series had they not down 03 in the series after Thursday nights loss which extended the Nuggets winning streak to 11 straight games of the Lakers and afterward LeBron James he talked about the demands and impeccability it takes to win take a listen we know what it takes to win we know what it takes to win a championship and how you know damn near near perfect you got to be that's not like some something that's so crazy to obtain i' I've been a part of it four times where you have to have almost perfect basketball to win you know and I've done it with him so I'm I'm not a guy that you should ask that because I don't feel a way about anybody that don't want to strive to be as close to perfect as possible and it's just basketball at the end of the day it's just basketball so the Lakers have yet to play that perfect basketball ball and there have been a number of concerning moments for this team Stephen what's the biggest reason why they're on the break of elimination well outside of D'Angelo Russell I think one of the biggest reasons is that they can't get any stops particularly against Denver's front line you go about joic Michael Porter Jr and Aaron Gordon combining to score 66 points on 58% shooting in this series they can't get stops when they need to they shot hard horridly from three-point range at the beginning missing 15 of their first three six 16 three-point attempts but when you can't get stops when you've had a double digit lead where you're a plus 22 in the first half but you're a minus 42 in the second half of these three games is really you can't get stops and that's what this comes down to for the Lakers I'm glad Stephen A my dear friend over here outlined the specifics he's right about all that there was a phrase that we used to use years and years and years ago that describe situations like this when you look at the Nuggets three games in and the Lakers three games in they're not good enough yeah they're not they're fatally flawed they're not good enough in a lot of areas to me just look at Anthony Davis Anthony Davis has had a great series statistically right I mean you look at the numbers you go my goodness if if I thought Anthony Davis was going to have this going into the series I say the Lakers going to be all right Anthony Davis is one of the he's not one of the top five but he's somewhere between five and 15 in this league of the top players all league players but the dude he's playing against particularly in the fourth quarter is one of one and so you've got a disparity there the Lakers can't overcome and LeBron James as great as he has been all season he's not that in the fourth quarter at this stage and age and it's not to be expected it really isn't to expect anything more than that is almost unfair but Malika you combine those two elements alone if Anthony Davis is going to get overwhelmed at any point of the game and LeBron James can't produce late in the game after playing 38 39 minutes you're done cuz the rest of those players aren't of that caliber they're not good enough it's a simple answer the the Lakers are good and the nuggets are great that's it y but when it comes down to who you're going to point the finger at on why they can't beat the Nuggets just one game I mean that's it I'm not going to sit up here and blame D'Angelo Russell I'm not we should mention though he did go over seven from the field I'll let I'll let perk talk no I want to let you talk you the one walked in with attitude I do not have an attitude today first of all I look great I'm feeling great I'm all right you you gave it to me the preach calling me a pastor that's number one number two listen when you are a starting point forget the 0 for S forget the scoreless is as inexcusable as that is we can understand that you know you ain't scoring the ball you the point guard and you got two assists two two I mean come on man if you can't expect something from him on that level who can you ask of of anything from who is that who is that person C but but Stephen A here's the thing right we know that they've been great why because LeBron James moved to the point for a spot I feel like that D'Angelo Russell has been catching too much unnecessary heat especially hold on let me finish especially when it come when it came down to the last game with him sitting away from the team at the end of the bench because the problem I have is it's cool when they do it it's a problem when he do it okay and when I'm saying that is is that this man has been in trade talks the entire season the entire season and since then since then March 8th he gave Milwaukee to work 44 points 26 points against irant hold on listen to me for a second because I'm making a point 39 points against Utah then went there did his thing against Boston without ad and LeBron James the reason I bring that up is is because every single day this man has had to walk on the bus go in The Practice Facility get on the plane with snakes the people that didn't want him there and he stayed professional throughout so it was really messed up all across the board for people to criticize this man because he had a moment you know how many guys I didn't played with didn't had a moment news I have never ever in my life on this network thought that I would be sitting across from Kendrick Perkins and I'd be able to mistake him for Dear Abby You' got to be kidding me you're sitting here making an excuse for D'Angelo Russell you talking about snakes what what what exactly is a snake somebody that has you as a team they give you a contract they paying you dollars to be on a team you don't produce and they're contemplating moving on from you that makes the mistake I don't think that makes the mistake that's number one number two when you talk about D'Angelo Russell and you say oh well he's doing it there are other people that's doing it I happen to know you're from bont Texas I happen to know you're very familiar with the Dallas Cowboys I happen to I happen to know that you remember a coach by the name of Jimmy Johnson a great one who who basically said I am consistent with the fact that you will be treated differently those who produce will be treated differently than those who don't D'Angelo Russell does not produce the way LeBron James and Anthony Davis does he did show up in the second half of the season after wet in the bed the first half of the Season then he shows up in the playoffs Fresh Off averaging six points or 32% shooting or 133% shooting for three-point range getting swept by by Denver and then you come up in this series again you stink up to join in game one you don't score in game three at all a donut come on per listen to me man it's nothing I'm not talking about or disagreeing with you when it comes down to his performance okay I'm telling you about this moment and he had unfair criticism about this moment I didn't been in locker rooms where guys didn't had their moment we didn't seen videos circulating when I was on the Celtics a big baby crying at the end of the bench I didn't witness Reggie Jackson break down on the bench you're going to have moments as a role player the Lakers distant themselves away from him all season long and at the time the one time that he disted himself away from the Lakers it's a problem well can I can I can I be in the middle it's probably way I don't even want to be in the middle of L he's not one of the Lakers and I don't I don't disagree with you about his performance CU he's not he's not one of the Lakers top five problems the Lakers got way bigger problems than D'Angelo Russell D'Angelo Russell is not relevant to that degree yes the moment looks badad for the for the purpose of Optics it looks terrible but he if I start listing the issues with why the Lakers are down 03 and why you don't need to bring this team back again if they going to have to play the Denver Nuggets D'Angelo Russell is not on my when the brother was flowing y'all said that was a big reason why the Lakers are are winning so how is it that now that they're losing it's not a big deal that he's not performing well and he is a piece of that near Perfection that LeBron James was talking about a guy who made 226 threes in the regular season shooting a career high from three that's the version of D'Angelo Russ they need Kevin Durant LeBron they find themselves staring down 03 holes for the first time in the first round of the playoffs in in in quite some time if both the nuggets and the Timberwolves complete the sweep it'll be the first time since Curry entered the league on a more micro level W the future of the Lakers their roster construction their head coach all of that comes into more Focus if they get swept what impact will this series have on Darin Ham's future here listen if you are a head coach of the Lakers and you get swept in the first round of the playoffs or you lose in five you've got uh job issues you've got job security issues and darham will have that uh I think that uh despite the fact he went to the Western Conference finals last year he won more games this year 47 in a regular season where they're without Jared Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent for most of it but here's what the Lakers are going to have to look like they're going to have to look at what is the marketplace who is available to them out there I think Mike buen holer is the most accomplished coach that's available the Lakers have not shown necessarily A willingness to pay for a head coach of what buen hoser is probably going to command on the market uh and then you start looking around out there and say and also they've got three draft picks that they can move now at the draft they had one they could use at the trade deadline there'll be more players available he has the potential to have uh a better team uh maybe more guard who allows them you know to be more of a a onpo Defender a score it is it fair for darham to lose his job but if they get swept if they lose in five it is part of the conversation and this is what pisses me off this is not a dingham problem this is a Rob pinka problem he knew that they wasn't good enough and I was preaching that before the allstar break when the whole world was telling me why would you give up D'Angelo Russell and why would you package up Austin Reeds this is why they're not at that level and they need a third star Austin Reeves up out of there with D'Angelo Russell and you bring in a third star no argument there except for one thing and one thing only and I'm going to look right into the camera and say this when Anthony Davis went in front of that microphone post game after game two all right and he said we were a bit out of sorts I don't remember the exact word that he used but it was similar to what Giannis was saying when he never brought up adri Griffin but we knew he was throwing up AJ Griffin that's why we made noise about that because it was the first hint maybe not the first hint but it was a hint that the players were looking at the coach I don't think it's right I don't think it's fair doin Ham's in the second season he took you to the Western Conference finals last year he got you to the playoffs this year your record was better you know that you're in you're you're you're inhibited to some degree DLo and Austin Reeves in the back court you see what Denver's doing to them but in times there is a fall guy that ends up being examined I do though want to take some talking about the competitive sweeps that happened for the Los Angeles Lakers against this this Denver Nuggets team they LED at halftime of all three games of the series but moral victories they mean nothing in the playoffs so Stephen A what do the Lakers need to do if they want to extend this series tonight pray a lot before the game right at tip off half time post game and just make shots make shots cuz you can't stop Denver you got to make shot they better hope Denver is like complacent and isn't paying attention but that doesn't seem to be the case Denver wants to embarrass them it seems like per am I crazy no it seems like Denver wants to you know they they know they haven't played their best they're saying it publicly and they want to take it to they're toying with the Lakers they have to hope that Denver just is all right whatever and that is not the personality of this team if if I'm
