Norm MacDonald hangs out with Don Rickles still and Norm said Don doesn't even remember anything about his craft. For Norm's birthday all he asked of Don was to watch an old show of Don performing so they could could go over it. Norm said he didn't get a thing out of him craft wise but it did make Don smile.

I tried to do something similar at my brother's wedding.... The humorous jabs were received as unfunny insults.... the ending seemed insincere and completely fell flat. I drank a lot after that.
