from beautiful South Florida there's a look at Hard Rock stadium in Miami today two AFC teams set to do battle it should be a good one as it'll be the Jacksonville Jaguars taking on the Miami Dolphins and he's up past the 20 to the 22 yd line that didn't take long to see our first penalty of the game didn't it we always talk about everyone wanting to get into the game in a hurry the officials did as [Applause] well playaction it's [Applause] Lawrence oh this is taken in it's complete and they're going to get this beyond the 40 before he's taken down heck of a start a 30 yd pi pick up on their first play from scrimmage I've heard a quick strike offenses but this has taken that to the extreme I mean the very first snap of the ball game normally you're thinking let's get our quarterback comfortable and get him into the floow of the game but not here they come out attacking from the outset and it pays off in a big way and not much there at all maybe a yard up to the 43 that felt like a trap because it looked to me like the opposing front was on that play from the GetGo they had everyone crash into the ball here before he even made the line and they hold him to just a yard they work now on second and [Applause] nine they go playaction now Lawrence open man complete downfield to Davis and he's got another first down as he's brought down at the Dolphins 32 yd line a really nice gain of 25 yds but one of the ways the quarterbacks keep all the receivers alive in a play Never lock in on any one guy make sure you keep your eyes moving scan the field and here he finds the open guy for a nice pick [Applause] up meanwhile Lawrence's throw here taken in by Ingram and they'll work it inside the 15 yd line before it's all said and done that's over 40 yds of movement with those last two plays a nice gain there to his trusty tight end and now it's got them thinking opening drive touchdown here as they get into the Red Zone and in most cases with your tight end you feel like you've got a mismatch no matter who's covering him is it a small cornerback is it a linebacker who may not run as well in any event whatever you see you think that tight end can win that battle now hang on here a second looks like a jaguar in some obvious discomfort from that last play we'll get an update when we come back to Hard Rock stadium here's a second and [Applause] eight they'll send Kirk in motion right here's a fake on the Jet Sweep and instead a give up the middle trying to find a lane but instead he'll get back to the line of scrimmage and no more two runs in a row but only two yards to show for it he can rack up those tackles in bunches in the Run game from that middle linebacker spot and what he has to do is make sure he congratulates the guys in front and tells them thanks a lot because as the guy in the middle the Mike linebacker you're counting on your front three your front four front five whatever you've got in front of you to take up all the blocking allow you to roam and hit and that's what he did on that play but that was certainly an aggressive call and an aggressive play instead of just going for the first down took the shot in the end zone went for the touchdown and on third down they said forget about the sticks we won [Applause] six and his kick here is good and the Jaguars grab a three nothing lead that was a long sustained opening drive but in the end only able to get three the field goal out of it and absolutely you'll take the points in the early lead you never get those back but there will be a little bit of disappointment that they didn't punch it in for six after that kind of yardage and that kind of drive that they [Applause] had let's focus in on what we got to do here let's go get it now [Applause] out is the kickoff unit as they run up and send this one [Applause] away and he'll go down as this drive will start at the 25 yd line Miami's offense set and ready to go tongue of ioa and the Dolphins come up first and 10 at their 25 yd line they'll start on the ground with moer trying to run inside but nothing there tackle made by Devon Lloyd the linebacker I think what we just saw there partner was linebacking speed that can Trump o line power we see that at times because he filled the gap before the offensive lineman could get to the next level and take him on so after after the run for No Gain here's second and 10 tongue of ioa working out of the gun they'll swing this out rde here's o champ and they get him down but not before he takes it across the 40 yd line 18 big yards on that one and a Miami first we can talk all we want about football being a game of strength and Broad it's also a game of mismatches and they were trying to create one there getting it to their back out of the back field to make a bigger play as we often say get it to him in space let him use his leg Yeah if he can get a match up against a linebacker maybe a defensive end dropping out in his Zone Blitz he's going to win that battle just about every time another big Gainer that time this one goes for 19 yds so in Jacksonville territory now here's a first and 10 at the 39 yd line from the gun a run with moer and down inside the 35 he goes to the 32 yd line seven yds on the pickup there and it'll leave him with a second and three the success there Charles coming on the outside of the field of the ground game curious to see if that continues as we progress yeah we often talk about a variety in play calling and usually between run and pass but in this case with strictly the Run game you can be creative there as well run it inside run it outside keep the defense off balance and he stopped immediately there call it no gain that time as it's going to leave him with a third and about three to go nice job there defensively to clamp down because really they've been on their heels this drive agreed and they really needed that one for confidence just to feel a little bit better but I don't know if I would be daunted by them stopping me on one run this drive has gone pretty well I could come right back at him tongue of ioa going to try and throw on third down able to find the open man that's complete and he is going to have the Dolphins first down and he was able to get it by plenty a gain of eight on Third and three okay so now the question how did he get that wide open well we both know that he shouldn't because from the time they handed out scouting reports before this game he was circled starred everything find him cover him but sometimes you can scheme a guy open you put the receivers in a bunch maybe you move some motion Maybe put him on the back side of a formation and all of a sudden you've got a better matchup every now and then the offensive guys they figure a way to get him open even with everyone keeping eyes on him and that's certainly a guy they want to keep trying to scheme open from the 24 they'll go again on second and [Music] 10 going to the air tug of vioa and this one complete to Smith they get seven out of that so they're left with a third and three let not quible about the gain there on second down that was a positive play because that was a take what you can guess situation got out to the tight end now it gives him much better opportunity to convert on third down here comes play number nine now as they come up on a third and three here's Tong of ioa to throw goes right back to Smith again and he is going to have the Dolphins first down I do believe yes he's got it by about a yard there there on Third and three well they kept it simple there CD only needing the short gain to move the chain so they didn't want to go with a deep throw they just go with that safer shorter throw and able to convert nothing wrong with that at all partner check the box right make sure you pick up the first down offense is getting established you're moving the ball you're not turning it over check check check he's got it touchdown Dolphins Tyreek Hill on the touchdown pass from Tua and the Dolphins are able to answer the early three points and take a first quarter lead that's why you've got your star out there throw the ball to him they did that's simply saying we don't care what coverage you put out there he's so good we're going there with the football anyway and there's not a thing you can do about it inside the Red Zone they go to him he gets it done [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] what it is that's what it is now after the touchdown ready to kick it away is Sanders Devin duber now returning from The End Zone and only able to get this to the 19 so probably should have opted for the Touchback so time to see Jacksonville again on offense for the second time here in this game and after the field goal last time we'll see what they can get here at least they got points out of the last Drive Charles I never met an offensive coach that didn't want a drive to end with a kick most of them wanted to end with a p right in this case a field goal they'll take it way better than the alternative which is a punt but you met fan bases that wanted that that weren't happy with that field goal I haven't met a fan base yet that wants a drive to end with a kick other than the extra point that's it from the 24 now now here's a second and [Applause] five from the gun Bigsby takes it to the 26 just a one yd gain here is third down and four [Applause] Lawrence that is caught and he'll be out of bounds across the 30 yd line Lawrence finding Kirk there for the Jaguar first now that's absolutely frustrating for a Defender had a chance to get him on the ground before he got to the sideline but what great vision and understanding where he is on the field as he headed for the marker and picked up the first down now Lawrence on first down that's going to be caught by bsby so the completion good for just three and that'll make it second down he felt the pressure coming there that was a good job but just making something out of nothing so to speak yeah took the hit and still made the play you know when we talk about Runners all right and on running plays runs after contact we call that getting dirty yards tough gritty ones to me that's like the version of a dirty pass he knows he's going to get smacked yet still delivers the football and picks up good yardage throwing again on second down but this time it's incomplete I think he could have scanned downfield forever but there wasn't anything available ends up throwing an incompletion and I think he'll take that they head to the line facing a third and seven following the incompletion on second down throwing again here it's Lawrence he's got his Target that's complete and he will have a Jaguars first down as they're able to get the third down conversion that's a play that'll likely be forgotten when you talk about big moments in this game but plays like this are critical to keep drives going and if points result we'll call this play significant on First and 10 it's Lawrence throwing quickly there but it's incomplete nice progress down the field was halted by that incompletion they could try for some safe yards here to get things moving again or keep throwing it and pushing it down field to try and pick up bigger yardage after the incomplete pass here now is second and [Applause] 10 here's [Music] Lawrence a short throw to Ingram Oh some strong running and he's got another first down as he's brought down at the Dolphins 33 the catch and run good for 18 and a first down [Applause] after one 73 the score on EA Sports the Jags with a football to begin the second quarter so they'll come up first and 10 now from the 33 as they've got it as we resume action off the play fake here's Lawrence wide open receiver complete and he doesn't quite make it taking it within an eyelash dropped at the one 33 yds that time despite writing it down on my notes I never give enough credit to the offensive line and we have to here the protection that's what made this play a success quarterback had to wait for his Crossing route to develop and that takes a little bit of extra time and he'll take this one in for a Jags touchdown T bsby punching it in from a yard away and the Jaguars have retaken the lead two good drives on their first two possessions remember the first wound up in a field goal but we all know field goals aren't going to cut it in the NFL so they're not going to be denied here and they wind up punching this one into the end zone extra point right down down the middle and the lead is now 10 to7 [Applause] [Applause] here's the Jaguar kick team now as they run up and send this one away baros now from his in zone and ultimately he stopped right where he would have been if he had simply gone down to a knee at the 25 so Miami coming out for their second drive as this offense comes back out here Charles they're trailing in this ball game and they've been on the sideline for a while they did score their last timeout but they just had to watch that long sustained drive so we'll see if they can shake the rust off yeah and that's always a a question that you have when you have to come off the bench after having sat there for a long time are you ready to go are you loosened up but even more so are you mentally alert and ready to put your best product out there well on every play call you realize it's not going to go for a touchdown so a lot of your calls are setting things up for maybe later in the game trying to establish the inside run run with toughness now hopefully get to the perimeter later and let's face it you could do worse than a four- yd run on first down and he'll be brought down shy of the 40 at the 38 yd line nine yds the pickup there and it's a first down that's a good nice crisp run for a first down I wonder if the defense might have been loosened up a little bit maybe anticipating a pass instead of the run that they got so here's a first and 10 at the [Applause] 38 two are going to throw he'll dump this off to hm they'll wind up getting just a yard and it'll be second down [Music] playaction now it's Tua he'll let this go deep for wle that's going to be knocked away and incomplete boy that Ball's just hanging up there waiting to be intercepted that looked doomed from the start but they took the Deep shot anyway and fortunately it winds up incomplete after an incomplete pass on second down that'll leave him trying to convert on Third and nine from the gun it's Tua and that's caught inside the 30 and all the way in for a Miami touchdown jayen W 61 yds and the Dolphins have moved out in front pretty good response they had given up the touchdown and the lead but they struck back and I love the way that they just saw it happen took a quick exhale on the sidelines so let's go get it back and fast let's go ahead and throw the ball down field and get our own six points a huge chunk play to regain that lead [Applause] let's go now let's go [Applause] [Applause] now after the touchdown ready to kick it away is [Applause] Sanders and a good return as he'll be stopped just shy of the 30 yd line here comes the Jaguars offense as they get set to go again [Applause] Lawrence bringing the Jaguars up first and 10 just shy of the 30 Bigsby with a carry to begin the series and he can only manage to get a couple second and eight coming up well they always talk about playing great team defense and that was an excellent example right there everyone on assignment no one in the wrong spot everyone filling their gaps this is second and eight Lawrence will throw and Davis has it over the middle it'll be a gain of five and this will wind up being a third and three coming up here looking for three yds to pick up the first Lawrence on third down and a quick throw there but it's going to be incomplete that could be the stop this defense needed to get them back on track they've been pretty well dissected by the offense here in the first half after that possession now they know that they can compete with this offense on fourth down on is Logan cook to [Applause] punt and here here comes baros and 8yd return there after a punt of 47 and out will come the offense as they take over the Dolphins offense now ready to go back out onto the field so for this offense Charles remember drive one made it to the end zone drive two resulted in a touchdown as well now they'll try to make it three for three yeah and you know they told us all week that this was the plan and this is what they wanted to execute but did they really believe it would happen this well this efficiently I they'll take it and afterwards they'll say there is never a doubt in our minds we were going to be successful in this one so the completion good for seven there and that's going to bring up second down they gave up the completion there but this is what zone defenses count on catching the ball and not much run after the catch throwing now is Chong of vioa looking middle and it's incomplete the coverage keyed in on him since that last completion his way he earned a little more attention on that route and that made it a lot tougher to get a clean throw his way the Dolphins on third down a perfect three for three as they look to keep that streak going this time it's third and three now Tua on the bootleg here oh into a sea of Defenders had intercepted it's Devin Lloyd with a pick and his crew with will take over with a football at the 35 yd line on First and 10 it's bsby oh good move and oh he sheds a tackle now he's got some space and he's going to get this down near the 20 yd line a 14 yd first down pickup for the Jaguars there was a little space there yes but that was a well executed run by the rookie it was and he wasn't one of the higher rated rookie running backs coming out he was probably on the next tier but let me tell you something if he becomes more consistent and continues to have that drive to be one of the best we'll see more of that in the future and he is met at the line of scrimmage and he goes down right there tackle made there by Jordan pyer and when the defense wins and gives up no yardage on a running play that's something they can build on and carry themselves forward throughout the [Applause] game now Lawrence and his pass incomplete so many times we've seen him try to escape the pocket and do something with his legs but in this case the pressure was too intense and he made the wise choice to just get rid of the football and make sure no one was going to get it they had the incomplete pass on second down now they need a big play here third and 10 looking to throw Lawrence and incomplete on the Deep ball Ah that's going to hurt a bit because they needed to come through the completion there now drive that started with great field position is facing fourth down now a field goal try coming up here for the Jags he connected on his first this time it's 39 yds away and his kick is right there it's good and the lead is down to one now at 1413 so Charles they get to the with their first turnover of the game and then make it hurt a little bit extra with a field goal and anytime you give the ball up what's the first thing a coach tells his defense don't let them score off of this you've got to put out the fire in fact in 2021 that's what one NFL coach termed his defense the firemen go out there guys and don't let him put some points on the board [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] so we're back to a one-point game now as the kick off [Applause] comes and they will Wrangle it down a couple yards shy of the 30 the Dolphins offense now working their way back onto the field and we'll see if they can bounce back from that last Drive in particular if they can bounce back at the quarterback position Charles after throwing their first interception of the ball game yeah and some guys you know they're going to want to try and get a big play right away and take control back others they're going to want look to hit a couple shorter passes get a little momentum back that way but for the defense that goal's not changing a bit they want another pick you're exactly right about that in fact you got to watch them a little bit because in coverage they may cut down their gaps a little bit maybe there splits a little bit in order to try and get to the ball even faster so many times in my career I've heard coaches talk about completions are one thing but as long as we're there at the catch and we get guys on the ground we can live with that but if you're going to give up 10 12 15 yards after the catch then your defense is going to be a lot of trouble and he's going to get this all the way down inside the 35 the 22 more yards there and another first down not only have they completed a couple on this drive but they peeled off some pretty good chunks of yardage to absolutely great start two nice plays in the pass game now can they continue to feed off that backto back good plays have them on the move on first down Tua sets up to pass it right back to jayen W for another catch and he's got this down almost to the 20 before he's dropped consecutive catches for him that good for 11 well so far little to no resistance by the defense on this drive D alone three passes three completions three first downs they're taking it to them and it's paying off on First and 10 it's moer it's a pick up of four and it'll bring up second down when you find that kind of yardage you couldn't be more confident as a ball carrier and guess what you're going to go back and tell your offensive coordinator I'd like to keep carrying it thank you second and six here's Tua that's going to be caught by WD call it a gain of six on the play and that'll bring up what looks to be a third and inches can't be more than a half a foot that's now four completions in a row a good bounce back following the interception last Drive certainly not letting it affect him that's for sure and we all know inter receptions are going to happen so the big trick don't let it affect you going forward most of the good quarterbacks they just tell the ball boy get that one out of the rotation give me a fresh ball and let's go he's got his offense moving again it's complete swings it out to his running back and he's going to be out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage it'll be a loss on the play and it takes us to the two-minute [Applause] [Music] warning so fourth down two departs and on is Jason Sanders and the dolphin field goal unit from the right hash this a 31 yd attempt Sanders kick is good and high fives for that one as that drive ends in three so they are able to end that drive with three points in this one possession ball game and ideally you want to end every drive with points most quarterbacks would tell you let's end it with a kick right a pat that's number one field goal you'll take punts you really don't want to do that in this case they'll take the field goal and get prepared for the rest of the [Applause] game after the field goal Here Comes Sanders to kick it it away no run back here for du touch back out to the 25 here comes the Jaguars offense as they get set here and last time able to get three it's not what they wanted they wanted six but they got at least something they mustered something out of the drive they'll take it just I I like the way you've described it not ideal but they'll take it anything to put some points on the board but this time on offense they don't even want to see the field go kick or Trot on the field they want that ball in the end zone yeah they'll be going for six call it no gain on the play and it'll be second down no luck whatsoever there on the draw yeah they're supposed to use their aggressiveness against them that was the hope but maybe they had too big of a meal last night a half step slow and he ends up running right into the meat of the defense now Lawrence to throw on second down that one complete downfield to Kirk and he'll be out of bounds but able to get get it up past the 45 23 yds the pickup there well that's what you're looking for when you w to throw the ball downfield you want one of those guys who can play out on the perimeter can play out wide who can not only get open but when they're covered can uncover themselves downfield and create catches on first down Lawrence and that's incomplete an incomplete pass on first down that leads to a second and 10 here's Lawrence to throw screen Play here's [Music] etn and they'll get him down as he's inside the 40 a 14 yd first down pickup for the Jaguars they ran that one well and not only did they pick up a nice chunk of of yardage on the screen they send a message to the defense rush the passer all you want but you better be careful we can hit you going back the other direction first down now but the clock continues to move now Lawrence to throw a short throw to Ingram and he gets it down a yard or two shy of the 30 before he's out of bounds they'll wind up getting seven on the play and it'll be second down that's a staple of this offense drag route to the tight end yeah he's unable to use his size to break off much more yardage after the catch but still an effective gain nonetheless on second down Lawrence on the slant he's got Davis and he will have a first down here as they get into field goal range down just shy of the 20 now a timeout called for by the offense as the clock stops here with 46 seconds remaining in the first half [Applause] [Applause] now Lawrence on first down under pressure and he'll go down sacked back at the 31 Jaylen Phillips the former first rounder getting in there for the sack and every game we talk about what are going to be the keys as we go into it maybe that's a key for their defense today pressure the quarterback and make sure you play a good zone defense behind them and they get their first sack of the [Applause] contest throwing on second and long Lawrence he lets this one fly toward the back of the end zone and that will be incomplete tried to dial up the long one way out there but it'll be third down I know conventional wisdom says hey don't get it all back in one play but some times you go ahead and try to they tried to get it all back on that one weren't able to do [Applause] so and this one looks good it is good right down the pipe and that'll bring him back within a point so he's been a busy man here in this first half that's three field goals for him now and not just three field goals but three for three so even though the offense has struggled a bit putting it in the end zone They still been able to come away with points due to his leg [Applause] [Applause] let ride [Applause] so barring a Touchback this likely the Final Act of the half as the kick is [Applause] away so the two teams will head to the lock rooms here in Miami with the dolphins on top as we send you up to Orlando to check in with Jonathan Coachman at our EA Sports halime report the Dolphins in front and they'll be in possession of the football first as the second half gets started and able to take it past the 25 and up to the 28 yd line the dolphins getting set to go back to work here in quarter number three and Charles they've got the lead put your coaching hat on here now what's the game plan for the second half I think getting the running game going a little bit more because I thought in the first half they didn't get it moving the way that they would like they had success throwing it but I think these first couple of drives they'll want to get those running backs going and give them more opportunities and I will guarantee you that those guys were lobbying for them in the locker room at halftime hey that's good for a pickup of 10 yards and that'll leave him with a second and just a few inches [Music] left now Tua going to keep it running left and some 50y running here as he'll take this across Midfield and down to the 47 and a solid job using his legs 16 yds and a first down on the keeper well he is certainly dangerous when he spots a lane and he keeps it himself there worked out well and how about the moving Parts on a play like this you know you have to practice it over and over because it's almost like a ballet that has to be choreographed but how about once he made the decision to go he committed to it and went let's face it most teams are going to defend the running back much more than the quarterback on that type of a play five yds is the tally on first down that brings up second and five in the first half he was held in check on the ground but despite that lack of production they still have the lead yeah they've got to feel fortunate about that if they can actually get production from their lead horse that would help open up this offense and widen this margin too and Hill is going to have the Dolphins first down as he'll get this down inside the 35 seven yds there good enough to move the the sticks from the 34 now here's first and 10 up the middle they go with moer and he will take it in for a Dolphins touchdown 34 yds for Raheem moard and they are able to add on to their advantage well they've done a pretty good job keeping him in check to that point but he finally breaks off a nice run here and gets into the end zone and it just takes one doesn't it partner that can undo a lot of good work that a defense has done to that point you break off one right there and everything suddenly looks bad for you [Applause] let Us's go let's go now after the touchdown ready to kick it away is [Applause] Sanders and he'll be stopped up at the 25 here comes the Jags offense now time for their first possession of half number two Lawrence bringing the Jaguars up first and 10 at their own 25 yd line they'll try and start this drive in the air a quick throw there is incomplete Oh They'll certainly be on the tablet going over that one for sure clearly they were expecting something else out of the defense and couldn't adjust to make that completion happen following the incomplete pass here they go again second and 10 for the 25 etn up the middle and he takes this up to the 40 yd line before being coralled that one a pick up of 15 for Jacksonville sometimes it's hard to believe but there are times this game is about patience isn't it has had the game he expected but that run there that may get him going I was just going to say maybe that gives him a little juice cuz you're right he struggled especially in that first half yeah and I know the great ones always think to themselves just hang in there I'm just one big carry away and the Dolphins Rush gets home down he goes the pressure from multiple guys there as they bury him for a big nyd loss defensively on the previous play they gave up a pretty good chunk of yardage but right there they got a good portion of it right back and if we just flip it around from the offensive perspective took a nice step forward and how about a couple of leaps backwards after that play they've got to figure out a big call coming up here to try and gain that yardage back and he gets this up across the 35 before he's out of bounds and that's good for a gain of six and it's going to be third down and a ways to go here third and 14 I's just make this one simple could he be any more open than he was on that play and they lost him going to the outside hard to believe because you go through your accounting on each and every defensive snap who's got who what what defense you're in that was totally a blown coverage he'll air this one out deep for Davis and that will be incomplete well they weren't scared to let it fly but it falls to the ground and brings up fourth down I like the fact that he took the shot deep down field even if you don't get the catch maybe you get a defensive penalty and pick up the yardage that way here's Logan cook now as he'll kick it away for the second time here's baros that'll be a 40 4yd punt the return goes for eight and it will be first and 10 as they take over out comes the Miami offensive unit now they get set to take over and that last drive it was all about the ground game ground and pound and I don't care how we're playing the game in these days offensive linemen still want to fire out and smack the guy opposite them and move the football on the ground they feel better about that that's what they want to do that's how a big team and he might go all the way and he's going to be out of bounds but not before he takes it inside the 40 and explosive 38 yd pickup often times now offenses aren't nearly as precise As Days Gone By they just tell receivers find an open patch of grass and let the quarterback find you and that's exactly what they did on that play First with the pass through the air nice chunk of yardage there and then additional pick up with his legs after the catch so five yards here five on the play and that will bring up second down now Tua again it's obj back to back catches and all the way in for a Miami touchdown a Al Beckham 31 yds and the Dolphins have taken a two touchdown lead now great Corner route there not only able to catch it turn it up field and get into the End Zone it usually involves a little bit of an extra move doesn't it you got to get them thinking that you're moving to the middle of the field and you're breaking away to that corner boy that was well executed [Applause] a [Applause] now after the touchdown ready to kick it away is Sanders du now going to bring it [Applause] out and he had no room to run as he's tackled down inside the 20 the Jags offense now gets set and heads back onto the field over on the sideline hoping to hit that reset set button between possessions last time out they had to punt it away this time hoping to finish this thing off in the end zone the coming out with a jumbo package to start the drive they'll start on the ground etn and they're going to get him behind the line yet again as his nightmare afternoon continues Bradley chub came in and got him you got to figure the further they fall behind the more you think that they'll get away from the Run they're trying to stick with it but the results they just aren't there first play of the drive goes the wrong way here's second and 12 and they'll go again with etn nice little Juke and he'll get this up to the 30 yd line a 14 yd first down pickup for the Jaguars despite the score despite the deficit no quitting this guy he's running angry running through arm tackles he wants to change what that scoreboard is saying so first and 10 now from the 30 Straight Ahead etn a very tough run but for a pretty short gain out near the 32 credit him with a one yd gain there to make it second and nine yeah things were pretty stacked up there in the middle of the line a lot of bodies not much space I think ultimately he was fortunate to get anything out of that run from the 31 here's a second down and nine Lawrence quick slant caught by Kirk and he was able to shed one tackle but could not get away from there so give him five yds there on the pitch and catch and now we've got a third and four that was a nicely run slant route and what the receiver's trying to do is make the defender think he's going up field for a deeper route and then breaks it off usually after about three to four steps and cuts towards the middle of the field and now what he's trying to do is use his body to keep the defender away from the football and get the quarterback a really nice Target and he slips up past the 45 before being tackled they picked up five yds last time now they double it and get 10 here well they've certainly had their share of troubles running the football in this one but this play is almost an extension of the running game right here they set up the screen let him work out in space on the perimeter and he turns it into a big pickup and they'll throw on first down with Lawrence and that is caught it's Davis and he's going to get this all the way down inside the thir 35 a good pickup there 21 [Applause] yds so now first and 10 as they've crossed into Miami territory down at the 33 now they'll try and set up the quarterback draw here and he'll lose yardage on the play back at the 37 yd line a nice stick and stop for a loss here from jayen Phillips I see a shake of the head as he gets up up and you got to imagine he's thinking guys you got to help me out he's hoping his team can read his thoughts because he definitely needs some [Applause] assistance on second down here's Lawrence oh he's got him in Wide Open complete and he's got another first down as he's brought down at the Dolphins 22 yd line a new set of downs after a strong pickup of 16 yds [Applause] on First and 10 it's Lawrence and that will to the right side and incomplete offens is moving it a little bit have them back on their heels but they in a brief Pause by forcing the incompletion that gives them a quick chance to regroup and try and out a stand before they're backed up even further third quarter from Miami this is second and [Applause] 10 off the play fake here's lorrence and that is incomplete a lot of force baring down on him there he could not hang on it's third down as soon as he leaked out and began his route someone on the defensive side broke with him and arrived just in time to separate him from another reception this offense was on the Move now two straight incompletions have them looking at third and 10 Lawrence will throw and oh that's going to wind up incomplete nearly their first pick of the game but it does bring up fourth down how about this defense they came up with a couple of big plays in this sequence and none better than the one right there forcing the incompletion and bringing up fourth down and this one is right through and they're hanging around here as the lead's down to 12 another three on the board he's been the lone bright spot that's now four field goals if this offense had finished a few drives we'd be looking at a different complexion to this ball game because right now the trade is really wrong for them isn't it they're trading field goals while the other team's scoring touchdowns that's not going to work [Applause] [Applause] here's the Jaguar kick team now as they run up and send this one away [Applause] and he takes this near the 25 just a little pass there call it the 26 out comes the dolphin offense now as they get set to take over here Tua and the Dolphins now with a first and 10 at their own 26 here's tongue of IO and a throw on target over the middle of the Hill it's a game of M matchups and that's why you take your receivers and move them around a bunch especially your best guys and when they work out of the slot you often hear the coaches talk about how great it is because it gives you a two-way go you can break out or you can break in that makes it hard to defend second down eight to go from the 28 they hand it off to moer and they get him down but not before he takes it across the 40 yd line 71 yds for him on the ground now as he has been terrific here this afternoon defensively they were in the 3 four and that old line just dominated the D line there let's go with a verbal telestrator here because that D line has a nose over the center and it has a two defensive ends over the offensive tackles that means the guards don't have anyone over the top of them that creates a natural bubble inside they Sprint up field take on the inside linebackers if the back hits it fast enough there should be space to run back now in Miami it's Dolphin football it's also dolphin lead to begin quarter number four two of once again here on second and 10 Jaguar pressure and a Jaguar sack Eric Armstead credit him with a sack and it goes as a loss of six he found his way into the back field and he simply would not be denied well they say that life's all about opportunities and that holds true when you're playing defense as well how about him seeing that chance making the most of it did a great job of wrapping him up and bringing him down open man downfield as W he's got it how about that they weather the storm of a third and 17 to pick up the first partner I like that they're staying aggressive on offense because to me this drive is what is known as a putaway drive you score here that might put this one to bed I like the fact that they're playing with confidence and not playing with fear playaction now it's Tua that's to the right sideline and it falls incomplete you still hold your breath a little when Tua gets out of the pocket but there he made the wise call if there's nothing downfield just throw it away so after after the incompletion on first now second and 10 throwing now is Chong of miloa and that Fallows to the ground incomplete a nice job of bodying him up defensively and now it brings up third [Applause] down this off offense was on the Move now two straight incompletions have them looking at third and 10 Tu are going to throw and the pressure gets there and Tua is going to be taken down Josh Allen drops him for a loss of 10 and it's going to be fourth and long he's known for his legs in his fancy footwork but he's not getting much of a chance to use it here the defense continue to hold the upper hand by bringing him down on that play so they're forced to punt on Fourth as this one's away and this punt sails over the sideline and the spot it looks to be right at the 25 yd line out comes the Jacksonville offense as they get set to take over here their defense was able to force the punt that's the good news but this is still a two-score game and they need points on this drive and in a relatively quick manner they go play play action with Lawrence throw left side complete to Ingram the completion but they go in the wrong direction a loss of yards and now they're dealing with the second and long fourth quarter every drive so critical and you figure may only get one more shot after this so a touchdowns imperative on this drive it is but you also have to think to yourself in play calling don't hold anything back don't save it for the second touchdown you got the first one for the second one didn't even matter looking to throw Lawrence throwing middle and it's complete will be a gain of five and now third down and six to [Applause] go they are in need of six yards here if they hope to move the chains on third down Lawrence that is caught and he is going to have a Jags first down as they're able to get the third down conversion and in a two-score game obviously every play every third down like we saw there magnified big pickup it was a huge pickup but they really want though is not even get to third down they've got to maximize time and conserve as much as possible they'll fake it on the Jet Sweep and instead a hand off up the middle it's a pretty strong running there as he'll take this across the 50 and down to the 44 13 yd gain yet again just like last play they held him in check in the first half but that's his longest carry of the game right there so would this be the definition of fresh legs since he didn't get much done in the first half now he has a great opportunity he's taken full advantage of it Lawrence's throw into the hands of Kirk and he'll go out of bounds after taking it a little further down inside the 40 he's been a busy man here in this one and there showing off some nice footwork to stay in bounds and with those types of catches and the volume that we've seen in this game wouldn't you keep him busy as well I would of course you got to keep throwing it to him he keeps making [Applause] plays Lawrence going to get this to etn the result only four yds there on the play and that'll leave him with a third and just a yard [Applause] here's Lawrence to throw pass taken in by his big tight end and he will have a Jaguars first down as they're able to get the third down conversion often times we think of those tough yards as grinding yards that a running back has to pick up how about the tight end there picking up the first down in that situation that's what he's there for right big fella get it to him let him fight off some people and pick up the necessary yardage on first down Lawrence throwing quickly there but it's incomplete he already came through for them on this drive no surprise that they were hoping he could do it [Applause] again here's second and 10 now from about the 32 on the draw here's Lawrence and he will cross the 30 down to the 29 yd line he'll wind up getting three on the keeper there but it leads to a third down pretty good little two-play sequence there you force the incompletion and a very short pickup yeah now maybe you bring in an extra defensive back or two because you want to try and defend on third down they like to play those nickel sub packages don't [Applause] they open man is Kirk complete and this won't do it he needed six he only got halfway there the goal of a wide receiver screen is get enough blockers in front to create a wall and let him pick his spot to run the football how about the defense there swarming to it and not allowing that to happen did not let him get down field and they're indeed going to go for it here on fourth down so trailing here in the last quarter let's see how this plays out they'll complete this to Ingram as tight end but he will be stopped behind the line as he will not come close close to the marker the Jags come up empty on fourth down and this 11 playay Drive is going to lead to nothing on the scoreboard tongue of ioa and the Dolphins come up first and 10 at their own 28 yd line they'll come out throwing here to start the drive and that is incomplete he couldn't hold on through the contact brings up second down he did a fine job there of not hitting him before the ball arrived and I've got to tell you you can often mtime that play because of the angles of approach when you're going to get him sometimes you panic as well and think I've got to be there right now instead in this case timed it perfectly and knocked it [Applause] free meanwhile two his throw complete there to Smith that'll leave him with a third and two coming up they got eight yds there certainly feels like they're more scars at the tight end position than there were even 10 years ago and I think it's become more of a glamour position because of the ways it can hurt a defense and guys want to be involved they can be in line close to the line of scrimmage they can split out like receivers but hands route running speed and some toughness to go across the middle you put it all together you got heck of a tight end candidate give him a couple on the run as it brings up a fourth down well they picked up a portion of it but not all all that they needed now that leads to a decision on fourth and one let's see what they decide to do the Dolphins will send out the pter now as he'll punt it away for the second time and a fair catch signal for and taken just outside the 20 yd line 37 yds on the punt with no return and they will take over first and 10 [Music] now Lawrence he'll get this out to the flat for etn so the completion good for six yds and it's second down a good start there on this fourth quarter Drive they need more of what we just saw down a couple of scores there's still time all right it's not like you know they're totally out of it but they have to score quickly and they're going to need some big time plays Chunk plays explosive plays they need yardage on each [Applause] snap now Lawrence and this one too low okay I'm not quite sure how to judge that one maybe didn't have enough legs Underneath Him mechanics might have been off maybe some fatigue that one came up short yeah fourth quarter maybe you do start to watch is the arm there the leg still there this has been a tough game the Jaguars on third down they've converted five times in their many chances thus far this is third and four here's [Music] Lawrence work in the middle of the field and he's got a man complete and he is going to have a Jags first down as they're able to get the third down conversion and with that last play he's now up over that 300 yd Mark and in today's NFL it almost feels routine and I hate that when you're talking about a 300 yard passing game to me 300 yards still signifies excellence and he's achieved that in this performance he'll get that underneath etn and he'll be coralled out across Midfield down to the 45 it's a throw again is Lawrence they'll try and set up the screen to etn and he is out of bounds but not before he's inside the 30 and when you're throwing the ball downfield really well like they have been on this drive it's really a nice time to work one of the screen plays in one of my favorite play Callers In the game has always told me he starts every game with 10 to 12 screens because if he starts feeling the pressure from the defense he uses their aggressiveness against them throwing now Lawrence on first down on the slant he's got Davis and he's going to get a solid gain of nine before being brought down second and right at a yard Nothing Fancy on first down but a very consistent type of a play hit that slant a lot of people call it an extension of the running game and it can be if that pass is completed cuz you hit a guy on the run like that you often can go for big yardage sets him up nicely for second down staying ahead of schedule he'll drop that under underneath etm and he'll get it down this time to the 17 we often talk about understanding The Playbook understanding progressions and understanding what the defense is doing we saw all of that on that play great recognition and understood where his running back was going to bait found a way to have him leak out underneath hit him with the football and they picked up the first down and that is incomplete now the coverage a little too good there and it's second down that's certainly not the worst thing it stops the clock and let your offense catch its breath and lets us exhale a little bit now I expect them to call a couple plays in the Huddle so they're ready if a tackle happens in bounds second and 10 now it's Lawrence sideline throw it's complete and a nice job there of keeping the toes in bounds that's certainly one way to beat the blitz get out of your hands quickly get it to the big fella very effective saw the pressure got rid of it and the completion ensued a big play here crowd on their feet third and four throwing again here it's Lawrence and he'll just get rid of it that means it's just one last chance left and this has to be a first down or a touchdown or this game's over [Applause] go the decision made for him they've got to go it's fourth [Applause] down here we go got to have it Lawrence and completes it to Kirk over the middle the Jaguars going to go ahead and use their first timeout as the clock stops here with 46 seconds left to play fourth down trailing in the fourth quarter they felt compelled to go for it and they got it well I look down at my play sheet and what I would find plays have been successful throughout the game that have worked at the distance you need and that's exactly what they got done here's first and goal Lawrence going to throw again back of the end zone could he get his feet down no it's incomplete limited time left on the clock after that incompletion so I think both sides are going to save her every second to prepare before the next snap cuzz once the ball's in motion it may be a Non-Stop push to finish this drive off everyone better be on the same page right now because I think they're going to try and get separate plays off in quick succession if they can he'll connect on the out r with Ingram that was an okay hook up there with his tight end but unfortunately they didn't get the kind of yards they had hoped for that's going to bring up third down [Applause] this crowd doing all they can here's third and goal off the play fake here's [Applause] Lawrence looking in zone but it's incomplete passing Lanes tough to come by with so many defensive backs on the field here late in the game and it's not just the number of bodies it's their quickness and their agility that makes it tough to complete a pass here it is fourth and goal and they'll try and throw for it with Lawrence and it's caught he's got it for a late touchdown but probably a little too late it would take a miracle of Epic Proportions if they're going to pull this one off coming from where they were they knew this was going to be tough but they got the touchdown now they need the miracle the onside kick and a little extra yeah and you have to get the onside kick and not have the ball bounce around a lot and eat up time you want to be able to grab it possess it and get your offense out there for what you just termed a miracle Last Chance point after right down the middle and now things get a bit more interesting here in this fourth quarter so looking at this situation you should have time for the onside kick and then at least one play and the Dolphins are indeed going to get this and that should all but do it a fourth quarter they felt like they needed the football back Unfortunately they couldn't get it and I know we' brought analytics into the game and someone has said here that the data says that when a team's expecting an onside kick 80% of the time the team expecting it they do actually recover the ball which is what we saw here I just wonder if that number is much more of a anecdotal type of a number kind of like when the coaches tell us well when you score on special teams 93% of the time you win the game I'm still waiting to see that number as empirical Miami set to take over and this one all over but the shouting you might say now there's one timeout remaining defensively but probably no real need to use it here yeah the only time they would use it strictly for Pride do it baby Victory very likely now for the Dolphins as they take a knee here and whistles and they take their final timeout with 7 seconds left down to an os's Tua and that should just about do it what a ball game this was what an atmosphere this was in the home team getting the late touchdown getting the Victory and now everybody in this building can file away with smiles on their faces and what do real estate people tell us all the time it's location location location so being at home that can be a big deal because remember they were down to their final chance to retake the lead that home field advantage I think it help fuel
