Does it work? Gila Heat Control Platinum review

product review on this heat control window film this is the Platinum not quite sure what that means I'm assuming it's just the color of the window film uh always been curious if it works and I didn't see any videos out there so I figured I'd help someone out this is the the film The what I have left uh it is a see-through material um there is a clear side that you actually remove and then there is a kind of a platinum color I guess you can see how reflective it is which is I suppose the secret of its heat control but that is the color that will be on your window um so basically um here I have it installed on two sides it is 80° or so outside about 70° inside about a 10° different from the exterior to the interior um I have it installed on the left side it is not installed on the right side one of the first things you notice uh when you do install it is you don't have these um you don't have the harsh Sun that comes through now it still does of course let light in let's look at it again it's on this this side it's installed this side it's not you can see the the immediate difference now the question is I was more concerned about the heat as opposed to the um the tinting I I have a thermal imager um here is the thermal image of uh what you're looking at is um on the right side you see uh the brighter uh is the more heat and of course it gets a little cooler uh the lower it goes uh and then this is the side with the window tinning uh you can see uh it's definitely different uh colors uh here's my porch um the Shadow from the porch and of course the interior you can see where the coldest spots along the corners of the tile floor and here you have some heat kind of leaking in from the window um so the temperatures that it read was 86 on the left side with the thermal um coating with the um the heat control window film and then um on the right side it was reading 99 de um now I have a couple different um test that I would like to do here is the uh faux window with nothing behind it uh running at about 83° uh heat and then if you throw a curtain in front of it um uh 80° so we max out at 91 88 89 91 uh curtain dissipates the heat quite nicely as expected um on this side this is just a thin bamboo I we're hitting around 107 I'll kind of do up in the corners a little bit 108 drop down to where it was a little cooler 94 96 and now we'll come over to the uh heat control side we're hitting 90 so we go from around 107 to 90 and come down here 92 to 83 so we're hitting I don't know 10 15 degrees differences in between them which is in my opinion great uh you're dropping a 10° different so I I would imagine that um the uh 2-in blinds in front of some of this heat control film would be fantastic curtains would be even better um but for what the situation I have this is always a very hot Corner in my house um I think this is going to do a great job in protecting uh my house from heat sealing it off a little bit better uh it actually it reflects if you were to go outside and look at a lawn it's actually reflecting the sun off the window onto the lawn um pretty harshly so instead of all that heat coming inside or all that that sunlight coming inside it's actually being reflected um to the exterior so depending on if you have neighbors you don't want that shine in their house of course and um so a few things to think about and I hope that this has been helpful um let me know by leaving uh some comments or liking
