You know after watching this I've discovered that what I dislike about Peterson the most isn't the fact that he's just wrong about a lot of things or that what he's doing is harmful or overly simplistic.
It's that he never, under any circumstances, misses an opportunity to use 100 words to say something when 10 will do. He just loves the sound of his own voice. He loves the celebrity he's found, and he postures and pontificates and throws as many things like "metaphorical substrate" and "phenomenology" into the conversation in order to make what he's saying as vague and amorphous as possible. He knows the more open to interpretation his words are the more people will assign their own meaning, which makes him more popular.
The worst moment for me was the first question at the end, the guy asks "If all the people died would God still exist?" and Petersons response was "I don't think I can answer that." Now, what I shouted at the tv was "What a copout, you pussy!"
This was the most disingenuous thing I've ever seen him do. The guy literally can't shut up, loves nothing more than postulating and pontificating for hours and does it for a living, but the moment someone poses a question that would require him to "lose" if he answered it honestly then suddenly he's not capable of an answer. The he digresses into blithering nonsense about "I don't know what God is", yet one of his unassailable positions is that God is the center of morality & society and definitely exists. Completely dishonest.
Matt is one of the few nu atheists I have any respect for, hes smart, funny, and i havent come across anything problematic thusfar
So, I guess Peterson believes psychedelics can actually connect you with the divine.
Wtf? I love JBP now.
I suspect L. Ron Peterson is going to be more selective with who he engages with from now on. Dillahunty embarrassed him. Badly.
TIL I'm religious
I can't even listen to Kermit Peterson speak, his voice is so awful. How people listen to hours of his vlogs is fucking beyond me
Is there a version of this video where you can actually hear what they're saying? Because I'd like to watch it but the video is so quiet even if I turn my volume up to 100% I can barely hear them speak.
