[Music] hi i'm nikki with the christian county library and today we're going to make a glass gemstone sun catcher okay what we're going to need is your plate your clear glue your glass gemstones and later on we're going to need some yarn and i'm just going to set that over here okay first of all take your glue now when you're doing this make sure the bottom of your plate is covered it doesn't have to be too thick and you may not have to use all of your glue so i'm going to and i didn't quite pour it all out i'm going to see if that's not going to be enough may take a little bit to get it all out let's see if that will work and i'm going to start spreading it so it coats the bottom of the plate and this might take just a little bit for you to do as well you want to make sure and it coats the bottom i'm just going to help it out here make sure you have a good don't make it too thin or the gemstones might fall out i'm just going to spread it around make sure it's pretty even all the way around mine's a little bit thin on this side okay all right now i'm going to take my gemstones now when you do this you want to make sure this flat part is going down and the rounded part is going to be out of the glue i am just going to start on the edge and just randomly put them going around and then i'm going to start filling the inside and if you have any extra that's good i have a couple of extras if you if you want to move them around to see if you can't fit them in there fill in some gaps just kind of move them around a little i might fit that one right oops right there okay all right now most of the time it's going to take at least one to two even maybe even three days for the glue to dry and if you set it out for a day and you come back to it and if you touch like a gap and it's still a liquid or still tacky i would let it dry completely before you do our next step this is going to be our next step once it is dry this one this one has set for three days and as i'm feeling it it's dry it's not tacky and then all you're going to do is you're going to start finding a place and then start peeling the glue and start and this one it is a little still a little tacky i can still see glue on there but i'm going to go ahead and remove it because it's mainly dry now with it being dry like that yep i left there was one that came out but that's okay because i'm going to use that to put my string so once this is done i'm going to go ahead and grab my string i'm going to put it through the hole and i'll show you what you can do if you don't have a hole and just stirring it you can tie it now or you can tie it around whatever you are going to put it up on and you can make it as short or as long as you like there we go there is my sun catcher now if you don't have a hole you're going to find a place in between and you're going to take a pin and just twist until you make a hole there's a hole right there and then you can put your your yarn you can poke your yarn through there through your hole and then tie it but that is the sun catcher i hope you enjoyed this program i hope you continue to visit our website at christiancountylibrary.org to find more virtual programs see you later bye
